Sloppy Joes II

Submitted By: Tamara

"This is the recipe my mother used for Sloppy Joes, and it always gets compliments!"

Rave Review: "I browned the ground beef, onion, and green pepper. I then put the remaining ingredients into a slow cooker and cooked on low for about 3-4 hours. This recipe was really simple & delicious."--Brandy Berner

Porcupines

Submitted By: Tara

"These are great to make ahead of time and then freeze. We freeze them with mashed potatoes and corn as part of a homemade TV dinner."

Rave Review: "My husband loves this dish and so do the kids! So tasty! These are also good served with warm bread for a hearty fulfilling meal. I did substitute onion powder for the chopped onion (picky kids) and it turned out perfectly."--TERRIS911

Stuffed Peppers

 Submitted By: BDEGER
"Green peppers stuffed with ground beef and rice and topped with a seasoned tomato sauce."

Rave Review: "Loved the recipe but the green peppers need to be blanched before being put into the oven. Put green peppers into boiling water for 1-2 minutes then quickly put in ice water. Then proceed with recipe as is. Green pepper has a much better consistency this way."--mominpa

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Submitted By: Janeen Barlow

"This is a quick, throw together slow cooker soup with a Mexican flair. Teenagers love it. Serve topped with corn chips, shredded Cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Make sure you adjust the amount of chile peppers if you're sensitive about spicy foods."

Rave Review: I will definitely be making this again! My husband loved it and was craving more the next day. We ate it a spoonful of sour cream and cheese on top, with tortilla chips of course. It's also very good with rolls. Makes great leftovers!
--Lesli

Easy Mexican Casserole

Submitted By: ANDREALF63

"This is an easy and very tasty dish. I often substitute ground turkey and low fat dairy products and it is still delicious! Serve with chips, salsa, and green salad."

Rave Review: "Very easy to prep with ingredients I usually have on hand. Next time I think I may use plain yogurt instead of sour cream and mix it with a little taco seasoning to up the flavor and ease up the calories a little. You could totally add a can of corn or another thing of beans as well and it would be delicious. Thanks for a keeper!"--Jaime

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Submitted By: Deb

"This is the tastiest, easiest chili recipe you'll ever find. I recommend serving it with sliced jalapeno chile peppers and crackers or cornbread."

Rave Review: "Even my 7-year-old ate this! I coupled it with the "Absolute Mexican Cornbread" and, needless to say, it was a keeper. I followed the recipe only substituting the dark red kidney beans for pinto beans and added a little bit of fresh jalapenos...other than that it really doesn't need any tweaking!"--Christine

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Submitted By: tangastar

"This is an easy tasty meatloaf. It tastes as good as it smells!"

Rave Review: "This recipe was fabulous!!!! Instead of spreading the ketchup and brown sugar on the bottom of the pan I mixed them together and used it as a glaze on top of the loaf and it came out beautifully. I won't be using any other meatloaf recipe again!"--Aimee

Shepherd's Pie VI

Submitted By: Jacquie

"This Shepherd's Pie is a layered casserole of beef, carrots, and potato."

Rave Review: "This is a fantastic Shepherd's Pie recipe! I made it the first time exactly as written, and the second time I substituted ground turkey for the beef and added a can of creamed corn and some cooked peas over the carrot layer, just to get some extra vegetables in. My husband and I liked it even more with the turkey. Fabulous, quick, and nutritious comfort food!!!"--Karalyn

Try sprinkling mint and thyme in your potatoes when you have mashed them, before putting over the meat. Then just place under the grill until the peaks of the potato are bown and crispy. Serve with extra gravy

Another idea for a quick and cheap meal with ground beef is, mixing two eggs into the beef along with a little salt, rosemary, breadcrumbs to make them go further, and a good dollop of blackcurrant jam. Cook in oven, they don't take long depending upon the size of them. They are so juicy and a lovely taste. Serve with pasta salad.

Sorry! I forgot to mention my previous comments were for meatballs. I also like to make them putting basil, chopped mushroom and onion, egg, and breadcrumbs, and a little pizza sauce.

My meatballs always get rave reviews, and nobody can figure out what I did differently... instead of bread crumbs, I use a package of cornbread stuffing mix, and instead of water, I use a bit of (very) cheap red wine... gives it a really rich, amazing flavor.

Love this website for trying new recipes. My version of an invented Shepard's Pie is ground turkey or beef, canned sliced potatoes, green beans and stewed tomatoes. Add your own seasonings for flavor and mix together. A little shredded cheese (go easy) on top for added crust. Awesome.

I used to work at a fast food place that served taco's the taco meat filling was kept in a big pot like a slow cooker-leftover french fries were added to the meat filling to stretch the filling and it actually made it taste better! you could probablly use any kind of left over potatoes.

Good recipes. We change this up to a pot pie variety using browned ground beef, the vegetables listed, a can or two of creamed corn, and instead of mashed potatoes, we mix up a biscuit batter and pour on top.

Love Allrecipes.com! I use this site to inspire my creations. I hate following recipes, but love cookbooks (and this site) to assist me. I love how the members here offer their spin on a recipe.

I love this site, but would be happier if they stopped pushing my recipe review back. I put my recipies in back in 2009 and they still havent looked at them...They are recipies that I actually use and my family loves. I just wish they didnt take soo long. Is anyone else having this problem??
