These " copy cat" recipes ( Twinkies, Hostess Cupcakes, etc) are so identical that the only thing missing is the sealed cellophane wrapper & the box ! They are so close in taste, texture & look.

I'm not sure how good these recipes are in weaning us off processed food when they call for ingredients that are processed to begin with, such as cake mixes and whipped toppings. All the cake mixes I've ever seen have hydrogenated fats and highly processed ingredients. I'd rather see recipes that used whole food ingredients. Just my two cents.

KATSINTHEKITCHEN, I agree! Looks yummy, but the recipes I've seen have cake mixes and such in the ingredients, which was very disappointing.

There are many non-mix cake recipes out there that would substitute well for the boxed mixes in these...
