What is Allrecipes.com Menu Planner?
Allrecipes.com Menu Planner is a tool for home cooks to create menus for single meals or multiple meals. You can create a menu for a day, an event,
or a whole week or month! Allrecipes has created more than 1,000 menus, ready for you to use and customize.

By hovering over Menus at the top of any page, you will also see a list of menu options. If you see a recipe and would like to add it to a menu or
create a menu with that recipe, click Add to Menu in the Recipe Toolbox. From there, you can add the recipe to an existing menu, or create a new
menu containing that recipe.
What is a menu?
A menu is comprised of complementary recipes combined to make a meal, or several meals, depending on the type of menu. When you use an Allrecipes menu,
the menu contains nutritional information, a shopping list, and helpful hints on preparation and serving. You can view menus already created by clicking
on the Menus tab at the top of any page, and Supporting Members can save and edit these menus, as well as create their own menu.
How do I access my saved menus?
You can access your saved menus by logging into your Allrecipes account, and clicking on the Menus tab in your My Allrecipes Toolbox in the top
right corner of any page. Click View All My Menus to see all of your saved menus, or click on My Allrecipes, and your list
of saved menus is in your My Menus section.
What is My Menus?
My Menus is a list of menus you have either created or saved. Menus are a feature for Allrecipes.com Supporting Members. Not a Supporting Member?

How do I find Allrecipes’ Menus?
Allrecipes Menus can be found by clicking on Menus at the top of any page, or, for more specific menu types, hover over Menus to see a list of options.

How do I save Allrecipes’ Menus to my Recipe Box/My Menus?
From any menu page, click Add to My Menus from the menu toolbox above the menu description.
How do I create a menu?
There are several ways to create a new personal menu.
- From any recipe page, click on Add to Menu in the recipe toolbox. From there, you can create a new menu by clicking the
New Menu button. You can also add the recipe to one of your existing custom or personal menus using the drop down.
- From your My Allrecipes Toolbox in the top right corner, on the Menu tab click Create New Menu.
- Decide will you will create a single meal menu or a multiple meal menu. To create a week’s worth of meals, select Multiple Meals. You’ll see a weekly planner appear. However, if you select Single Meal, you can always change your mind later, adding meals to a menu is easy!)
- Select recipes. You can select recipes directly from your Recipe Box using the Build Your Menu box on the left side of the page. Then drag and drop them into the menu in the center of the page, or search for recipes using the search feature in the Build Your Menu box. As you add recipes to your menu, your shopping list will be created automatically.
- To add a meal to your menu, click Add New Meal under the last meal you have created, and follow the same simple process to create a new meal.
- Want to change the serving size? You can change the serving size of the entire menu from the Menu Options drop down on the Menu Edit page by clicking
Change Servings. To change the serving sizes of a single recipe, you can click on the existing serving size, and select the servings you would like. (Please note—only recipes that are Kitchen-Approved will be re-scaled)
- Once you are happy with your menu, save by clicking on Save Menu on the far right or using the Menu Options drop down.
Don’t worry! You can make edits to your menu at any time!
How can I customize an already created menu?
On the menu you wish you change, click on Customize Menu in the Menu Toolbox. From there, you will be able to remove recipes in the menu, drag and
drop recipes from your Recipe Box into your meal (shown on the left side), or search for recipes to add to the menu. Your shopping list will be created
automatically as you add or remove recipes from your menu. Click on the down arrow in the small orange box next to Menu Options in order to create a
new menu, rename the menu, write in items not included in the menu, add details, change serving sizes, and save and share your menu on your Allrecipes
profile. Click on Add New Meal under the last meal in the menu to add another meal to the menu.
How can I make edits to a menu I have created?
These same steps you follow to customize an existing menu apply to making changes to menus you have already created. Simply click on
Customize Menu in the recipe toolbox to the right of the menu description, and add, change or remove recipes from the menu.
How can I find menus I have previously saved?
Your menus can be found in My Menus. You can see your most recently added menus by clicking on the Menu tab in the My Allrecipes Toolbox
in the top right corner. From that same tab, you can also choose View All My Menus in order to see your saved menus. You can also see
your Menus by clicking on My Allrecipes. Your menus will be listed under your saved recipes in a separate category, the My Menus section.
How do I know how many recipes are in each menu, or how many meals are included?
From the Menus tab, click on any category of menus. A list of menus will appear detailing how many meals and recipes each menu has. There will also be a description of the menu, as well as tags indicating occasion recommendations.
How do I add other items that are not a recipe to a menu I am creating or customizing?
In the menu you wish to change, click Write in your own item from the Menu options drop down. From there,
you will have the option to create a personal recipe and add it to your menu. The item or newly created personal recipe ingredients will also
appear in your shopping list, under Other Items. (Please note: items you write in and personal recipes are not reflected in the nutritional information,
and will not scale if you change the number of servings.)
How do I remove an item or recipe from my menu?
From the menu detail page, click edit menu (or Customize menu for Allrecipes’ created menus). Highlight the recipe
or item within the menu you would like to remove by moving your cursor over it. Once the menu is highlighted, click the orange x on the right side. This
will remove the recipe or item from your menu, and its ingredients from your menu shopping list.
How do I add details to my menu?
From the Menu Options drop down, click Add Details. From there, you can change the title, add a description of your menu, notes, and add categories.
Add the information you would like to include and click OK. It will appear on your saved menu once the menu is complete.
How do I share a menu?
Any previously created menu you save will be automatically shared on your Cook’s profile page. To share a personal menu you have created on
your Cook’s profile page, click on Menu options from the Menu edit page, and click on Share.

What is the difference between My Menus and Menu Planner?
My Menus is your list of saved menus. Menu Planner is the tool you can use to edit or create new menus.
How do I create a shopping list for a menu?
As you create a menu, your shopping list will automatically be created. Once you have finished creating your menu, click Save Menu
on the far right. Once you have saved your menu, click Add to Shopping List. (Please note—if you make a change to the menu,
and then re-save it, and click Add to Shopping List again, all of the items will be added to the shopping list for a second time.)
You will be able to choose to create a new shopping list for the menu, or add the menu to one of your existing shopping lists.
How do I add menu ingredients to an existing shopping list?
There are two ways to add a complete menu to an existing shopping list.
From the Menu editing page, click Save Menu and then Add to Shopping List. You will be able to choose the existing
shopping list you would like to add the menu to.
From any menu detail page, click the + next to Add to Shopping List. You will see a drop down menu with a list of
your existing shopping lists. Select the shopping list you wish to update.
How do I find other cooks’ menus?
Currently, menus are not searchable. However, you can see any cook’s shared menus by navigating to their profile page. Their shared menus will be
displayed underneath their Recipe Box. (Please note: Only Supporting Members will be able to view the complete menus.) Additionally, the newest shared
personal menus will appear on the bottom right of the Menus home page (click on the Menus tab at the top of any page to arrive on the Menus home page.)
If I like a recipe, but don’t know what to pair it with, how can I find a menu that recipe might be good with?
On any recipe page, if there are menus that contain that recipe, the menus tab under the Nutritional Information below the recipe will have those menus
available. There are additional related menus which may contain the recipe, or similar recipes in the Related Menus box to the right side of the
recipe page.
How do I print a menu?
On any Menu display page, click Print Menu to be taken to the menu print preview page. Select the print options you would like to print, and
click Print. Click Cancel to be taken back to the menu display page. From within the Edit Menu page, click the Menu Options
dropdown next to the menu title and click Print to be taken to the print preview page. Select the print options you would like to print, and click Print.
Click Cancel to be taken back to the menu display page.
