RSS - Really Simple Syndication

What is an RSS feed?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a format for sharing web-based content through automatically updated links. Sites like Allrecipes can provide public RSS feeds that include recipes, cooking related articles and food news. Subscribers to these feeds use software to include this information on their own websites, or to read the information directly.

Allrecipes offers several “Daily Recipes” RSS feeds organized into topics. Each feed includes several recipe
items—these include brief descriptions and links to the full recipe.

How can I use an RSS Feed?

Ways to use RSS include:
Using a program known as a News Aggregator (or news reader) to collect, update and display RSS feeds. Here is a list of some of these products.

  • Using certain websites’ functionality to collect, update and display RSS feeds. An example is Yahoo’s “RSS Headlines” feature of the MyYahoo personalized area. Click here if you would like to add an Allrecipes RSS feed to your MyYahoo page.
  • Incorporating RSS feeds into weblogs (“blogs”) or other personal web pages. Examples of blog hosts include blogspot.com and livejournal.com

What are the terms of use?

Allrecipes RSS content feeds are provided free of charge for use by individuals and non-profit organizations for personal non-commercial uses. We encourage you to use these feeds, so long as you provide proper attribution to Allrecipes and don’t alter the textual content.

If you provide this attribution in text, please use: “Allrecipes.com.” If you provide this attribution with a graphic, please use the Allrecipes logo provided within each of the feeds. We reserve all rights in and to the Allrecipes logo, and your right to use the Allrecipes logo is limited to providing attribution in connection with these RSS feeds.

In our recipe feeds, we include the recipe submitter alongside the title, please do not alter this for display—we want our community recipe submitters to receive credit for their work.

Allrecipes reserves the right to require you to cease accessing or distributing these feeds at any time and for any reason.

What kind of content does Allrecipes syndicate via RSS?

Allrecipes offers the feeds below in RSS 2.0 format. Please see the terms of use section for more information.

Allrecipes provides two different link styles for each feed below. Clicking the first button (1) will subscribe you directly using some news aggregators, if this doesn’t work for you try the second button. The second button (2) links directly to the RSS file—some news aggregators will allow you to “drag” this button into the reader to subscribe, with others you may need to type the feed’s URL (listed below) directly.

RSS and Internet Explorer 7

When using Internet Explorer 7 the feed button Feed Icon lights up when the page you are on offers RSS feeds. Click the icon to see the feed and, if you want, subscribe to have the feed automatically sent to your computer. This link will be found on all Daily Recipes pages and on the feed pages themselves.
