BBQ Chuck Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
This recipe did wonderful things with my lowly chuck roast. I don't have a spit so I did the indirect heat thing on the barbie. I used the boiled marinade to very generously baste about every 10 min., which I really think is the key to this and made sure to move this around for even cooking. It took almost 2 hours to reach 145 degrees. It was a thing of beauty coming off the grill. Absolutely delicious.....try this one - I think you will be glad you did. Ahmad you rock cuz your pic made me want to make this and thanks to Sue for such a great recipe.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
I'm glad I "listened" to the reviews that stated to use the buttermilk if you want this for a dressing. Thanks to Melissa I did and it's still very rich and thick but suitable as a dressing. I used low fat mayo and low fat buttermilk and I still absolutely love this dressing. The seasoning is perfect for me. Just remember if you want a dip the sour cream will be ok I'm sure - I even had to add a bit more buttermilk to get the right consistency. I do think there should be a better description of the use of sour cream vs. buttermilk - only reason I did not give this a 5 also.

Garden Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Great green bean recipe with a couple twists to make it unique. I did use a full 8 oz pkg. of crimini shrooms and diced up the water chestnuts - we all enjoyed this. I'm not a salt person but did wait to taste till after I added the cheese and I thought it needed just a bit more salt than called for. Thanks Diane!

Brazilian White Rice

This cooking method creates a great soft fluffy light rice. I used vegetable broth and this simple rice has good flavor. Went well with our spicy bbq chicken breasts.

Spicy Orange Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
This is really good. I marinated 6 large chicken breasts in it for almost 48 hours. I made as is except I only had plain chili paste so I just added a couple cloves of garlic and used mirin for the Chinese wine. I wished I would of also made some extra for a glaze - next time I will. This has nice heat so keep that in mind if you aren't into spicy. I think this would be even better on a couple pork tenderloins...yum. I didn't get to eat the pineapple as the previous reviewer stated cuz mine was in with the raw chicken but I'm sure it is good and I would actually use slices with the glaze for ease on the bbq when I make this again. Thanks for the great marinade recipe Rhonda!

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I did not care for the vinegar in this recipe. I don't think it belongs in bleu cheese dressing but I gave it a try. While this was ok I will make a more true bleu cheese dressing next time. Absolutely NOT the best....sorry.

Chili Rubbed Pork Tenderloin With Apricot Ginger Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This was so visually pretty coming off the grill I could only hope it would taste good too. Well this deserves a definite ride on the "hot tamale train" for sure. OMG the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. I did add just a small amt. of chipotle chili powder also and I thought the heat level was spot on. The leftover glaze was so good for dipping. I love the lime in this and next time just might put some more in but I had a small lime. There were lots of smiles all around while eating this. Served it with Parmesan crusted asparagus from AR and Shitake Mushroom Brown Rice from Food Network. It was good too. A 5-star recipe and a 5-star meal. Thanks Pork Board!!

While the salad part is a bit boring and typical, the dressing is excellent and I will make it again. I did add some thinly sliced red onion to the salad and that was a good addition.

Dad's Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
I cook a lot for my elderly father and being an old military guy he has asked me to make SOS or something similar for such a long time. I found this and made it with just a few healthier ingredients. I used ground turkey, 1% milk, added some minced garlic and used "Better than Bouillon" in lieu of the bouillon granules. Better than Bouillon is a great product - 50% less sodium than broth, stock, cubes or granules. I just recently discovered it at Costco. I made biscuits for him to eat this on and he was just a happy camper. I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much but he got all the leftovers to take home.

Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
Cha-ching! I loved this - everyone loved it. Only thing I did differently is I subbed honey for the maple syrup which I always do when it's called for in any recipe and I used just a bit less brown sugar. I can't stand the flavor of maple syrup anywhere but on my pancakes. This dressing was excellent, unique and complimented the ingredients of this salad perfectly. This will be made often. Thanks Sperl25.
