Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This recipe was really good. I cooked it for Thanksgiving instead of green bean casserole. It was my kids first time having fresh green beans and they both loved it! The only thing different I did was to halve the amount of onions since my family isn't a huge fan of them. Will definitely be making these again

Cranberry Upside-Down Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This coffee cake is great! It came together very easily, the topping was tart and nutty, and the cake was very light and yummy. I couldn't find the base of my springform pan, so I made it in a bundt. Came out wonderfully!

Caramel Pecan Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
These are so yummy. My new favorite cookie! Super easy to make and would be great to do if you had a little one who likes to help bake! I used Caramel Hershey's Kisses and they turned out very moist and gooey in the middle. The hardest part was making sure my hubby didn't eat them all before they got to their intended destination.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
gonna try this review once more (two failed attempts). I just finished making these for a dessert wedding reception, to make them appear different from other cookies, I added a small piece of candied ginger to the top of the cookie prior to baking. The cookies are very moist and ohhhh so tasty. I cant wait to "overhear" what the wedding guests have to say.

Texas Cowboy Stew

I have made this a few times now and it is ALWAYS a hit with our family! It makes a LOT of soup, so expect leftovers for a family of four. Great dish to feed a crowd too!

Taco Soup VIII

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Good basic recipe but like the other reviewers, I think this sucker needs some tweaking to bring it up to 5 stars but that is a great blueprint to customize. It's too thick. I thinned with mixture of chicken broth and beer. Also, adding canned chopped green chilies, (mild) gives a nice flavor. I use ground turkey which I think is a better flavor. Other garnishes are sliced olives, sour cream and chopped tomatoes, which are also good in the soup.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Fabulous recipe and a bit more sophisticated than some of the other taco soups. One caveat: Beware the chilies in the diced tomatoes. I bought some that were so spicy it wrecked it for me. I like some mild heat but this was over the top. My husband liked it but make sure it's a brand you've used before!

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This was a great recipe, thank you. I did add a few extra seasonings (celery salt & garlic) and more butter. The extra butter was not necessary afterall, there was a lot of fat/grease once I removed the chicken from the roasting pan. The drippings made for a lovely gravy. I added baby red potatoes (quartered), celery chunks, carrot chunks and onion to the roasting pan when I started cooking the chicken. The veggies got seasoned with the same as the bird. Everything was fabulous! Thank you for sharing this one, it's a keeper and the whole family raved about it.

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I love this recipe and so does my hubby. I use canned chicken and make my own crumb topping with soda crackers, italian seasoning and butter. Like others said it's also very good with provolone. Since I'm using chicken pieces instead of breast, I just smother it in cheese since that is what we like. Very good and easy!

Apple Squares

I cut the sugar in the cake part by ¼ cup, used at least 1 ½ cups of thinly sliced apples, didn’t use the nuts (although they would have been delish) and cut the cinn/sugar topping in half. Good and easy dessert for a fall evening.

Scallops with White Wine Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
While I do not eat seafood, I do prepare it for those who do enjoy it. I rely heavily on other people's recipes to figure out what I am doing. I almost chose a different scallop recipe but thought twice and chose this one. Boy what a GREAT choice that was!! Here are the reviews: Tenderest, sweetest scallops my dad has ever had and he doesn't normally like scallops! He couldn't stay away from them!! My mom, a scallop lover, enjoyed every bite and thought about stealing the package of scallops that I set aside for her to take to my Grandfather. My honey also really enjoyed!! This recipe paired well with the pan-seared rockfish with lemon beurre blanc from foodtv.com. They have very similar sauces and I cooked both dishes at the same time, then served everything with steamed green beans and fresh green salad. Thank you for sharing this one, it IS A KEEPER!!!

What a great "go to" recipe when there's no bread in the house for dinner. I need to double this recipe for my family of four, though, they go fast! They're great with a pinch of dried rosemary!

Salmon with Lemon and Dill

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
While I don't eat seafood I do cook it for the family. This recipe received 5 stars from those eating it and 5 stars from me for it's total ease of preperation and cooking! Due to a limited salt diet I substituted the S&P with Mrs. Dash, but still used the garlic and dill. (Must admit- I didn't measure the spices though, I just sprinkled until it looked good.) Thanks for sharing, this one is a keeper!

Magic Cookie Bars I

Just made this tonight and my husband has half the tray gone. I used crushed Vanilla Wafers since I didn't have graham crackers and the flavor was the same. I also used an 9x11 pan and they came out a bit dense but still very delicious. Great easy recipe!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
Okay, first of all I do not do the whole canned soup thing in recipes. I substitute tomato or marinara sauce, add some canned tomatoes and this is a great recipe. I also add a little red wine OR barbecue sauce (smoky) to cut the acid, which makes it a bit deeper and complex.

Blackberry Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
I made this for a large family get-together. Used 6 Granny Smith apples on this (medium) and 600 g (about 3 pints) of blackberries -- but I had to bake it in a casserole dish (no pie pan). It turned out amazing. I added a little cinnamon, but other than that followed the recipe exactly. So delicious!! Not even any leftoever crumbs in the dish after my family got done with it.
