Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This recipe sounded easy, but somewhat bland. After reading some of the reviews, I decided to make a few changes. In addition to the listed ingredients I add the following: 1/2 a chopped onion and two cloves of garlic (both cooked up with the ground beef), a can of cream of celery soup, a good couple shakes of worsteshire sauce and an envelope of dry ranch dressing (the ranch dressing mix was an awesome idea that I never would have thought of myself!). The outcome was a delicious, quick and easy dinner! No one is trying to call this a gourmet meal, but for a tasty and hearty home cooked dinner this definitely fits the bill.

Reuben Sandwich I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
It turned out good! I made two different kinds. I was making food for my parents and me, my mom's lotos-intolent, so I made hers with hot mustard, and just a little chese. I made the others with more chese, i picked gouda, which turned out delious with the sandwhich. I also used apple sauerkaaynt, with garlic yogurt dressing, instead of thousand island, because I didn't have any. I used both corn beef and pastrami, three slics each, and sliced them in half ,in triangles. AAfter using on a skill, I baked in the oven. What I'd change next time less gouda, less sauerkraunt, maybe I'd still use apple, but use yogurt sauce with no garlic. Well, other than that, it was perfect! Thanks!

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
This was the firsttime I ever made apple sauce! I used three small apples, peeled, and chopped them. However i had a hard time cutting them smaller, but having some kind of grinder, so I useda spoon first, then decided to use a fork. With the fork I Pushed hard dowbn in it, and cut diffrerent ways. However it was hard cutting in a bowl, so I put in on a cutting board, and would scrap the apple pieces with the fork to make them smaller. I put in back in the bowl. I used 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of cinamon, and 1/2 cup brown sugar, then i boiled it on the burner. Since I used the burner I ended up with trhe right amount of water. However I might want to warn you that if you haven't done this before the cinamon can turn your applesauce really brown. Mine was that color. It was a great recipe! Thanks!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
Quick and easy cupcakes from scratch no less. I noticed there's no salt in this recipe so I substituted buttermilk for the regular milk. And the cupcakes turned out very good and soft inside--no cornbread texture. The ingredients are simple and basic so you can whip these up at the spur of the moment if you need a last minute dessert. Great, thanks for the recipe!

Made these for the Super Bowl party and they were a hit. I don't have a deep fryer, but I do have a non-stick large wok, so I used that instead. Easy to prepare, will make again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
Outstanding! I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of using only 1/3 cup of sugar. It was an easy recipe to follow and my family loved it! The only issue I had was it took over double the time to rise - even though I had it in a warm oven. Next time I think I will try it with quick rise yeast and see if that speeds the process up. Thanks for the great recipe!

Open-Faced Broiled Roast Beef Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Recipe was easy. I made them for my family as a quick meal before my son had to play trombone at a concert. i did change the meat from a deli roast beef to some thin sliced round steak but kept everything else the same. Next time I might use a different type of cheese and maybe spice up the veggies a bit.

Sweet Potato and Turkey Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
We have a tradition of having shepherd's pie and angel food cake for Christmas dinner. It is easy to make ahead, and it's well...shepherd's and angels, get it? But I wanted a more flavorful festive recipe. After searching through a couple dozen, I chose this one. It's healthy, delicious and had all the wonderful aromas and flavors of a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. I had some left over mushrooms, and I mixed it with the meat. This will be my Christmas Eve Shepherd's pie for years to come! Thank you very much.

Chicken Salad Croissants

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
This was a really good idesa! My mom said it turned out all blended together. I used three raw breasts of chicken(sauted in pan, and cut the chuewy fat parts out), only three crossiants, cut dill pickles and added two sliced hard boiled eggs(sliced w/an egg slicer), and used mircle wip, instead of maninease. It was great, however next time if i decided to still use swiss, I'd try to seperate, even with more chicken and less swiss instructed, i ewnded up with too much swiss in mine. Maybe next time I'll try new kind of chese, or two.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
FANTABULOUS!! That's what my 9 year old said about this bread. What a great, easy recipe. My whole family loved it! I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of baking it in 2 regular size bread pans and 2 mini bread pans (I didn't have a 3rd regular one). This ended up being a hit as my kids loved the mini size sandwiches it made. My 2 year old was especially tickled to have kid size bread. Thanks so much for the recipe...I will definitely be making this again and again!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Quick, easy and good...even my toddler ate it up. I changed the recipe to suit my family's preferences. I pre cooked frozen corn, carrots and green beans instead of canned veggies. Used 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup and 1 can of Cream of Potato soup. Added salt, pepper, a little garlic powder and a bit of poultry seasoning. Great comfort food - will definitely make again!

Exactly what I was looking for. I made this when we had company and I didn't want to serve plain carrots. The amount of syrup and butter was just right to give a unique taste while still letting the flavor of the carrots come through. Everyone loved them...there were no left overs!
