Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
I was scared to death about making my first Thanksgiving turkey, but this recipe plus a few little extras was fantastic!! I just rubbed the inside and outside of the skin with a homemade herb butter, and used the bottle of wine on the bottom of the pan,,,, it was fantastic!! Thank you!!

Annemarie's Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This one is great, because it doesn't require powdered sugar! I added the zest of the 2 lemons that I used, put half in the crust, half in the filling, and also added 1 tsp. vanilla to the crust. Oh, and a dash of salt to both crust and filling. Doubled the recipe and used a 12x9 pan. Really, really yummy! Thanks for the recipe.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
In the midst of baking these right now- my entire family gives an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up!! Made a couple of changes- doubled the recipe, used 1 entire bag of milk choc. chips, plus added 1/2 bag Reese's Pieces, 1 bag M&M's, and 1 bag Peanut M&M's. Also added about 1/4 c. more of oatmeal- wanted to clear that last bit out of the container. These are tender, tasty, and everything my family and I love in a cookie! Thanks so much for posting this- it's a total winner! :)

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
Turned out really good! Just be sure to get dough really cold before rolling out!! I also added the extra sugar and vanilla, and made smaller cookies, so they took the minimum cooking time!!

Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
Thank you for this wonderful recipe! I made 2 alterations- used 1/2 lb. ground beef and 1/2 lb. ground pork, and used 1/4 t. nutmeg + 1/4 t. of the allspice. As in other reviews, found the meat mixture to be very soft, but used a cookie scoop (similar to icecream scoop, but much smaller!)and plopped the meatballs right in the pan- worked great. The flavor and texture are much like my Norwegian grandmother's meatball recipe (I don't make hers because the recipe calls for veal). The flavors are fantastic- thank you again, flicka! ;)

White Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
YUMMY!! This fudge is as easy as it looks and tastes fantastic. I love it, and so does my family, we don't do a lot of chocolate so the white chocolate made it great!! I used almond slivers (pre-cut) instead of pecans or other nuts and it worked perfectly!! Thanks a million for this tasteful alternative!

Cream Cheese Mints

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
I made these about five minutes ago!! They are FANTASTIC. I couldn't believe how easy they were. I substituted the oil for extract (adding a little to taste) but the consistency with 3 oz of cream cheese was perfect!! Try rolling them in Holiday, red and green sprinkles along with the food coloring, it looks great!! Thanks for the recipe!!

Real Homemade Tamales

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
This recipe is fabulous- used whole pork sirloins for the meat (far less fatty, and less expensive, too!), and it came out great! Had some extra masa dough left over- so stuffed a few with shredded cheddar cheese tossed with a little of the sauce- added an extra Yum Factor- every once in a while, one of us would get a cheese one. Oh, and a little side note- these things freeze beautifully, as does the sauce- discovered that if you thaw them in the fridge, they reheat in the microwave or steamer equally well, and are as good or better than the first time around! Thanks for the great recipe!

Upside Down Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
This is almost exactly how my grandmother used to do her turkeys (stuffing has a better texture when cooked separately, anyway!)- the upside-down technique works well with all other poultry, too.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
Very tasty! Did two things differently- added a bit of fresh parsley, to brighten the flavor of the oregano; also, grated the garlic with my microplane grater (which was already being used for the Romano anyway!) This was really, really good- rave reviews from the whole family!

Yummy Eggnog Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This was a great recipe! I do recommend it frozen or defrosted VERY shortly before serving. If you're going to make more then one just make sure you have a big enough mixing bowl! I did cut out almost 1/3 of the cream, but then again I tripled the recipe! Anyway, maybe experiment before bringing one to the dinner party... =)
