Sausage & White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was pretty good! I made it as per the recipe, except I used ground thyme because I didn't have any fresh. I'll make this again, but I think next time I'll cut the sausage up into smaller pieces. It just seemed like slicing it made for really BIG pieces in the soup. I might take the sausage out of it's casing and cook it that way. I'll also add another can of beans. This soup was filling, and tasty.

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
Will make again! I just added a little Cinnamon Plus (from Pampered Chef) to the dough. And I used a mix of blackberries and marionberries, and before it finished I added a few blueberries--just to get enough. And this is the first time I have made a dessert in my cast iron, great! But you definitely have to make homemade ice cream to go on top! Thanks!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was my first time making my own red sauce and meatballs. I have to say that it was simple, with deliecious results. I was very proud to serve the finished product. I don't know why people are making a fuss about the sugar. 1 teaspoon of sugar didn't make much of a difference in the taste. Consider that there is much more of all the other seasonings. I recommend trying the recipe the way it's presented here. It's definitley worth the risk.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
OH MY GOSH! These were SOOOOO good!! I'm afraid I may not have any left tomorrow! Everyone in the family, hubby kids and I, loved these! I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't have the square bake dish so I used a 9" pie pan instead, and it turned out fine. I will definitely make this again and again! Goes great with a scoop of ice cream as well!

Dip For The Stars

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I made this for a work potluck today. It was mostly gone by the end of the potluck; I put the rest in the kitchen and it was gone by the end of the day. Everyone loved it and I came home with an empty plate. Perfect. A few people asked for the recipe. I did make a few changes--didn't have time to crush garlic and I didn't have shallots, so I subbed 1/8 tspn garlic powder and 1/4 tspn onion powder. I made it in a bundt pan and use oiled press and seal wrap. Perfect. Thanks!

Pretty good, a little bland, I'm not quite sure what is missing.

Twice Baked Potatoes

this was a good start...I accidentally mixed in the cheese w/ the potato and milk mixture, and it turned out fine...a little cheesy.

My Best Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
The meat turned out really well--I also cut the cooking time--but I feel there is too much liquid smoke. My daughter loved the meat because it tasted like bacon, but I didn't care for it.

Bowler Beef Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I used this on tenderloin I served to company, and I got nothing but compliments. The only change I had to make was to use dried ginger. I'm sure when I make it with fresh ginger it will be even better.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I thought these were good, but not spectacular. I used chive and onion cream cheese with a little bit of shredded cheddar mixed in. I will definitely make them again, but I won't grill them. Much, much easier just to pop them in the oven. I will also doctor up the filling. Maybe add some canned chili's and garlic powder.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
This was fantastic! I did add Old Bay seasoning like other readers suggested. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because it wasn't thick like clam chowder. Will try again though, maybe with more flour? Thanks again!
