White Sauce

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
This sauce is great and a good base sauce. Add a pinch of nutmeg to send it over the top.

Slow Cooker Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
Made this just as written. The family thought it was OK. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Just needed more spicing up?

California Style Israeli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
This recipe is delicious and like the others have said, it gets better the second or third day. I love to put it in a whole wheat tortilla with a slice of turkey. Makes for a quick, delicious and healthy lunch.

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

This recipe was WONDERFUL!!! The sauce was very good and would go great on top of steaks as well. Definitely give this one a try, I got rave reviews.

Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Oh my gosh! This is so good! I'm giving it four stars though because I did add a little extra. To keep it moist, it definitely needs more bananas. I added 1 3/4 cups of bananas instead and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for a little spice. Turned out great!

Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies III

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
I love these cookies! If you like a thick chewy cookie though, these are not for you. These ones are kind of airier and crispier, but still soft, which is what I like. And they aren't overly sugary like some others I have had. I didn't have any almond extract though, so I used vanilla and I did add a teaspoon of cinnamon. Yum yum yum! Thanks for the great recipe.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I liked this recipe, but I guess I prefer a little bit lighter and crispier oatmeal cookies. These ones were a little thick and dense. That is all personal preference though. I took them out a little early to make sure they were nice and soft and they set up nicely. My family really liked these too. They were gone the next day. Overall, very good, easy recipe.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
I thought this was pretty darn good! The first time I made it, I was missing onions though, so I added them the second time I made them. I like the idea a couple of reviewers had to use pasta sauce instead of ketchup. I think I will do that next time. The ketchup was a little too sweet with the brown sugar, but overall very yummy!

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
Actually I would give it 4 1/2 stars rather than 5. It was very good, but also very thick and pasty. I served it on rice as suggested. Lots of leftovers! Next time I'll thin it a bit and maybe not cook the lentils so long.

I've had very good results using this recipe. I think beating the egg whites and folding them in is what makes the difference. My daughter loves making these and does a better job turning the 'skivers than I do!

Creamy Mushroom Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
I loved that most of the ingredients were already staples in my cupboard. I found this recipe a bit salty. Next time i will use a low sodium chicken stock and salt to taste as i cook. i agree that this recipe also needed more mushrooms. All in all with a little tweeking, i made this a wonderful low-fat sauce with plenty of flavor. Next time i plan to add shallots.

Orange Yogurt Bread

Wow! This was great, and so moist! We ate it without the glaze. I substituted soy yogurt for the yogurt, and for the butter, 1/3c vegan butter + 1/3c shortening.

Really good! I added 2 small diced potatoes, like another reviewer, and also 4 cloves of garlic and 2 tsp Penzeys Sunny Paris seasoning. It was delicious.

Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
This is the first 'from scratch' cake that I've found, that my family likes better than a mix! It is less sweet, and more moist. We love it. I added an extra half cup grated chocolate directly to the batter (unmelted), and substituted soy yogurt for the sour cream. Also substituted 1/4 cup applesauce for one of the eggs. Delish, and healthier!
