Dark Molten Chocolate Cakes

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
I subbed 6 tablespoons of sugar + 6 oz unsweetened chocolate for the bittersweet. My cakes came out molten in the center. Make sure to butter & sugar the ramekins beforehand - easier for the cakes to slip out onto the plate. The only problem for me was that the part that cooked all the way was more brownie and fudgy-like than cake-like. Maybe I'll look for another recipe for that texture.

The Best Lemon Bars

I thought it was a tad sweet, even though I added 3 lemons worth of juice (about 1/3 cup). My friends thought they were delicious though!

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
This was a tasty dish. I used another can of broth and a cup of water. I wanted more servings out of it. I used my left over roasted chicken from the night before. The dough was perfect and very easy to make. If you are not using the extra water and broth it yields a lot of dough. The only reason I did not give it five stars is the spices. My man had to add spices while eating it, but he loves spicy things.

Aloo Phujia

This dish was easy to make and flavorful. My man thought it could use some more flavor. I added the exact amount of spices it called for but apparently I needed more. I thought it had kind of a curry flavor to it and it was good. I give it a 4 star but my man gives it a 3.

Cajun Shrimp Orecchiette

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
A fantastic dish. I loved the flavors it was light and delicious. I made the mistake of using frozen shrimp. This can be chewy. Definatly use fresh when you can. I love the flavor of the oreccheitte pasta. I buy delallo pasta as it is the only one I can get that is orecchiette in my local market but it has great flavor. I never thought it made a difference with what pasta I bought but it does.

Szechwan Shrimp

This was very good. We like spicy in our house so I am very liberal with the red pepper flakes. Like everyone else I double the sauce. I also add some chinese noodles to the dish at the very end. I make it in my wok and it is wonderful.

Yummy! I sliced a lamb shoulder roast and added fresh basil\mint\thyme\rosemary. All sounded like a great compliment to lamb, and I was right. Definitely making this again and again... XD

No Bake Bumpy Peanut Butter Nuggets

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This is an easy one to make. The colder it gets the tastier it gets. So make sure you bite into them when they are at least in the fridge overnight. I loved the flavors with the cinnamon, wheat germ, and of course peanut butter. I love peanut butter but it wasn't "complete heaven" good that's why it didn't make the 5 star rating. It is a nice thing to make with your kids. That is if they can wait overnight to enjoy them.

Black Forest Cake II

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
Absolutely delicious! I made them into cupcakes, and filled the cupcakes by using a small cookie cutter to cut a hole, then filled it with the cherries and powdered sugar mixture. I didn't use the heavy cream mixture. Instead I topped the cupcakes with regular buttercream frosting, maraschino cherries, and dark chocolate shavings. Will definitely make again!

Mostaccioli Bake

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I loved this bake. I never missed the meat at all. The spinach really added to the flavors and surprise of all surprises the cottage cheese was so much better than using ricotta cheese. I will make sure to use cottage cheese all the time now for my lasagna recipes. This is a fantastic dish and a pleasant break from any meat.

Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies

yum! I excluded the shortening since I didn't have it, upped the vanilla to a TBS cause that's the spoon I had in my hand and YUMMMY! The texture to these are unbeatable! If you know the yogurt is in there, you can almost taste it, if no one tells...everyone stands around wondering what your secret is :)

Honey Oatmeal Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Absolutely delicious! The honey give it a light sweetness, and the soaked oats make it soft and chewy. I substituted 1.5 cups of whole wheat flour for the all-purpose. I also agree with other reviewers that this recipe does use more flour than called for, but do not just dump it in until the dough isn't sticky, knead in small amounts gradually. It did take me awhile to knead the dough until it wasn't sticky anymore, but I tried to add as little extra flour as possible (I just kept re-coating my hands as I kneaded), and the texture of the finished loaves was light and soft. We also ate our first loaf before it had even cooled! Definitely a family favorite!

Spinach Quiche

This quiche was so delicious. I rummaged through the freezer and found out I didn't have any spinach so I used zucchini instead. It is very forgiving and a great basic recipe for quiche.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
This was excellent. Truly authentic tasting - I'm part Indian - and almost addictive in taste, it was truly a joy to make and consume. I doubled the recipe and used only one jalepeno for the whole thing, and used six of the eight skewers of chicken we had. With the other two I made sandwiches the next day! I cut up the cubes of marinated chicken, put them on sandwich rolls and covered them in cheddar cheese, and let them broil on low for about 5 minutes. They were delish! :D The Chicken Tikka itself was amazing - we had some fresh naan and used white basmanti rice, cooking it in oil. :D Yum. A strong 5!

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
This was excellent. I made these for my man who is a big granola bar fan. He loves the playgroup bar recipe but these were just as good. For me it was easier to make. The condensed milk was the only liquid. I made it with 1/2 cup of peanut butter chips and 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. I also used peanuts instead of almonds. I used did raisins in place of cranberries. It all worked out great. Granola bars are so easy to improvise with whatever you like. The condensed milk was fat free but you would never know it. I am not sure this batch will last the weekend. Yummy!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Who needs the blueberries? This one sure doesn't. It was so good. I have been a bisquick user for many years and although it is decent it does not compare with this recipe. It was deemed "the best pancakes I have ever eaten" by my man. It was so easy, and no need to wait that hour. It must make it better somehow but I have never waited that long to try it. This beats anything you get at a restaurant!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Wow only brown sugar and ham who would have thought. It was very good and added so much flavor. It does take a lot of brown sugar but seeing as it is the only other ingredient besides the ham itself it makes sense. I have tried so many other ham recipes with liquor, without, mustard, you name it. This one is a keeper.
