Nacho Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
Hmmm, this is just OK but it was sufficient in a pinch. I had some cheap singles to use up and my husband wanted cheese sauce on broccoli so this recipe did the trick. He had to whisk it for me because the singles wouldnt melt and we ended up adding approximately an additional 1/2 cup of skim milk because it was extremely thick. It really didnt taste like anything so I added a few shakes of garlic powder and a pinch of onion powder.

Carrot Zucchini Saute

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This was very good especially since i love me some veggies and always have a hard time finding a good side dish. This is a new favorite. I cooked the carrots a little longer because they were still very firm, then at the end i added a little salt and my favorite seasoning mix, Spike.

this was delicious. i liked the flour on the chicken, but you need just a thin layer of it. Other than that it's a keeper and i will definitely make this again.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
They were a little more moist than i thought traditional scones should be. One suggestion is if you don't use a food processor make sure you freeze your butter or it'll get too soft in the process. I also doubled the recipe and found out that you need to put your dough in the fridge inbetween baking.

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
I don't understand all the raters who changed this recipe and then gave it 5 stars, or didn't like it, said they would change it next time and still gave 5 stars. I have made a lot of ice cream over 30 years, and this is the only batch I have ever not liked. Mini chocolate chips were waxy, hard and gritty. The mouth full of grit made it impossible to taste any creaminess in the base. I should add that my husband is a chocolate chip freak and will eat just about anything with chips on or in it. I used Schilling peppermint flavor, and even cutting it down to 3/4 tsp., it tasted weird not minty. Let me not forget...way too salty. If you made and liked a different recipe in place of this, please point us to the one you actually made and give this the mark it deserves unaltered. If you think your changes rate a 5, just put that in your own comments, not the rating please.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
This jelly is super good. We had it on Ritz with whipped cream cheese and it was delicious! We made 2 batches and got exactly 6 half pint jars from each batch. We used up the jalapenos that were left on our plants which had turned red - I think we used about 8 pretty small japalenos to get a 1/2 cup. Since the jalapenos were red, I used a green bell pepper. This was the first time I've made jelly or done any canning and the jars sealed up perfectly. Will be giving these out for Christmas. If everyone likes them, it'll be added to our annual Christmas baskets. Thanks!

Possibly one of the most delicious thing ever. I used pumpkin pie spice in place of the cinnamon because I love the extra flavor. While cooking it smelled like autumn in a pan! Definitely will be making this again to eat over pancakes!

Felix K.'s 'Don't even try to say these aren't the best you've ever eaten, because they are' Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
This chocolate chip recipe really is the best in the site. The cookies had little burnt sugar rings around the sides, oh god i nearly lost it when i ate one. sooo good. I used mini reese's cups that I found at trader joe's as a substitute for chocolate chips. Best decision i've made in a long time. My cookies came out so perfect and the firefighters that i gave them away to loved them.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

I cannot over emphasize how great these pretzels are! The absolute best I've ever eaten. My only alternation is that I basted each pretzel with melted butter right out of the oven. I served mine with homemade mustard, cream cheese and pumpkin butter.

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!

This really IS the best bleu cheese (for us anyway). It was super thick and bleu-cheesy and the perfect consistency for a wedge salad. Will save this one for next time.. thanks.

Chocolate Baklava

This is really good and super sweet! I used semi sweet baking chocolate and didn't really measure out the sugar and cinnamon and I used pecans and it was really good. I could have done without the orange juice in the syrup. I will definitely make again.

Seafood Sandwich

Better than it looks. The main picture they have up of this with the lettuce in the bun is unappetizing - it looks like it has tons of mayo. Ours were delicious, I followed the recipe as written except I used minced shallot in place of the onion.

Cilantro-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Very good dressing - I used 1 teaspoon of honey, otherwise made it as written. I served this over a mexican salad with chopped romaine, black beans, mexican rice, crushed tortilla chips, shredded sharp cheddar and garlic marinated shrimp. Soooo delicious! I made the whole batch and just for 2 salads we used 1/2 of it. I will make this again!

Spinach Enchiladas

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
I have made this twice. For the "as written" recipe, I give it a 4. However, when I made it a second time I spiced it up with more garlic, lots of chipotle cayenne, oregano and a dash of chili powder. I added all of those to onion when it was sauting. Very, very good and I will make this revised recipe again.
