Chocolate Mint Candies Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Very very good cookie, the kids thought they tasted just like brownies. I didn't have enough of the mint candies for each one so microwaved them and used a knife to ice each cookie. Excellent!

followed directions exactly, this was a very easy cookie to make and roll, the cookies turned out beautiful. I did add red food coloring and peppermint extract to one of the batches.

Tuscan Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
this was very good. I flaked and only added one package of cream cheese, diced everything in the food processor and it was still amazing. I may add less garlic next time, but that may have been different had I had all the cream cheese in there.

Two-Cheese Spinach Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
I made this for my Bunco group and they loved it, even the ones who don't like spinach. It was so good that I am going to make it again for Christmas dinner, and every holiday after that. Thanks Chris for sharing the recipe.

Cornbread I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
My husband and father both come from the south and HATE what we use as cornbread here in California. It is sweet and cakelike...and although I love it, I have had to listen to them lament about missing REAL cornbread. When I found this recipe, I hoped that it finally put an end to their complaining...and it did! It was all they had hoped for...I did make a few adjustments after reading some of the other reviews...changing the salt to 1/2 tsp. , added a 1/2 tsp. of baking powder, 3/4 C. flour, and 1 TBS. oil...and it was perfect for them both. (In fact, the only reason I gave it just 4 Stars is because I did have to alter the original just a little...) Thank you sooo much for this recipe...and for the previous reviews! This one will be one of our regular recipes from now on!

America's Favorite Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Well, I made this for the first time 35 yrs ago, hard to remember the details now, but my kids remind me of how good it is. 1 tsp of butter is a bit skimpy, I need MORE! TIP - If you burn it by "accident" (it does happen)carefully carry sandwich to the sink, with a sharp knife scrape off the burnt part. (make sure to rinse the sink, so your mom doesn't get mad). Happy Cooking!

This was soooo good. My coworkers are still talking about it 4 hours later. I made the bottom the day before and just "dressed" it this morning before work. I heard the words "Melt in your mouth" more than once.

The Meatball that Fell Off the Table

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
I was surprised at how good this dish tasted! At first I was a little skeptical of the fact that there is no salt in the meatballs directly, but they turned out very well. I made them bigger and browned them in olive oil, then took them out and made the sauce; I then returned the meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer until done. I also added some sour cream to the sauce in the very end and I thought that that was a very good addition- just added a little extra punch. My husband kept saying how good these were and told me to make them again soon! Thank you for the recipe :)

Tomato and Mozzarella Bites

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This was really good! I used the marinated braid from Trader Joes, just unbraided it and cut in chunks. It made about 40 of them. I poured the whole thing of evoo and balsomic vinegar over the top and just poured it off before I plated it (30min later), next time I think I will make far less of it and drizzle it over them after I plate them.

Chicken Enchiladas with Creamy Green Chile Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
My husband and I really enjoyed these! The only changes that we made were to just heat the tortillas in some sauce instead of frying them and to add green peppers to the chicken and onion mixture. The sauce was very good and I couldn't believe how easy it was to make! Great recipe :)

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

This was good, but I felt that there was something missing. I also thought that the meatballs were way too salty. If I make it again, I will modify the recipe to suit my tastes better.

Fresh Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
This cake had great flavor, but it turned out very sticky and kind of fell apart in some places after I baked it. Here are the changes that I made: I baked it in a bundt pan, added 1 tsp. nutmeg, 1/4 oil and 1/4 cup applesauce, 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup white sugar. I let it cool on a rack for about 3 hours and it still didn't come out of my VERY greased pan all the way. I think that if I make it again I will add more flour to bind it better and flour my pan along with the grease.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
I gave it 5 stars because I know it would be just as good if not better they way written. I used green onion instead of regular and cheddar instead of swiss. I also only used one forth of the bisquit in each one, it didn't come all the way up the sides but was fine coming out. I prefer less bread more filling.

Big Smokey Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
These were really good. The only issue I had was there was really no adobo sauce in the can with the pepper. They were so tightly packed in there. I just added a bit more of the peppers to compensate. It worked out fine.

Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
Me and my guests thought these were wonderful. Make sure you use a blue cheese that you would enjoy eating. There is such a range of flavors (some I can't stand) That may be why some people thought it was so overpowering and some thought it needed more. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly, will definately make this again.

Chicken Paprikash II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
A really good recipe! I'm almost full-blooded Hungarian so I'm always wanting to eat anything that is of that origin. I loved the paprika in this dish and I actually added an additional tablespoon. I also used chicken broth instead of water, added 2 bay leaves to the mixture and used boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Next time I will make it with bone-in-skin-off chicken breasts and see if that deepens the flavor a bit. Good stuff!
