Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
I made this recipe early in the day to take to a get together. I ran out of time and didn't get to pick up the bread bowl so I microwaved the ingredients at my destination and served hot in my mini fondou pot along side of sliced sourdough baquettes. Everyone thought it was excellent, I even got some "I like this better than that other one your bring" comments.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
I was expecting more from this recipe and was disappointed that I didn't get it :( I ended up having to add a lot of red pepper flakes, more italian seasoning and some red wine to balance the flavors out.

Red Cabbage Salad II

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
This is a very good recipe! The only thing that I changed was to add more salt, pepper and vinegar, given that I didn't think that there was enough of those ingredients. It also got better as it sat in the fridge and melded flavors :)

Watermelon and Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
LOVED this recipe! I took the advice of another reviewer and froze my watermelon chunks and added less ice for a more concentrated watermelon flavor. I also added some blueberries that I wanted to get rid of and they gave the drink a little extra color and flavor as well :) Great stuff on a hot day!

Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This frosting was great! I didn't change anything in the actual recipe, just the method. I made sure to chill the cream, beaters and my bowl before I began and it turned out great; a much better alternative for a lighter "summer" frosting as opposed to a heavier buttercream.

Hot Bean Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
this recipe was excellent. I did not add the hot sauce, green onion, or parsley, but did add one can of rotel. I just stired the cheeses in and served in the crockpot to keep it hot. Great party dip!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
I liked this chicken dish, but I was hoping that it would have a VERY flavorful taste to it. It was tasty, but not what I expected. The only thing that I did different was use whole, skinless and boneless chicken breasts and let them marinade for about 5 hours. I also made fresh ranch from one of those Hidden Valley packets; maybe the recipe would taste better if I had used bottled ranch? I loved the rosemary flavor and actually would put more in next time! All in all, it was a good recipe and I will come back to it and give it another shot.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
Mmmm...delicious. I used a buttercream frosting home recipe on top of the cake. Absolutely fantastic! A bit flour-y at first, but turned out great. Kinda thick, but will make again! Try it with a glass of milk for perfection! :)

Microwave Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
The ease of this recipe for me was what earned it the 3 stars, but I was disappointed with the taste. Mine was WAY too tart, even after adding another 1/2 cup of sugar. Perhaps my lemons were just too tart, as they came fresh from a neighbor's tree and not the grocery store. I also added a little slurry of cornstarch and water to thicken it and left it in the fridge overnight to get the consistency that I wanted. Even though the taste was not what I was looking for, I am willing to try this again.

BBQ Bacon Ranch Dip

Excellent dip, made it for a bbq and it was completely gone, used a homemade bbq sauce from AR, and green onions instead of green peppers (family issues). Thanks Gina!

Potluck Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Liked this rice a lot! I scaled the recipe down to 4 servings and used less soy sauce- I just kept adding until it tasted right to me. And since I didn't have chicken granuals to use, I just cooked the rice in chicken broth. I also think that toasting the almonds for this recipe are key to making it taste extra good.

Blueberry Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Very good pie! I cheated and used a ready-made graham cracker crust but it still tasted great. I also added a few tablespoons of lemon juice to the cheesecake mixture and to the blueberry mixture and did not top with whipped topping. Super yummy!

I thought this was really good, I only used one T of the hot sauce and was happy I did, it was pretty spicy with just that. We served over rice.

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe! I did not char the tortillas at all- don't like the flavor- and instead I mixed the sour cream, chicken, canned green chiles and some green peppers and onions all together and then did the layering with the sauce and cheese. It was hot the day that I made this so instead of using my regular oven I used my toaster oven and it turned out great!

Homemade Crispy Seasoned French Fries

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Loved the batter of this recipe, as it did provide a very crispy french fry, but I hated the mess! LOL. That's probably my hubby's fault, as he was manning the deep fryer and is a VERY messy cook :) I can't wait to try this on other things, like onions or other veggies. Oh, and I used beer in place of the water, as we both love anything that is beer battered!

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
I loved how easy this recipe was; I took the advice of another reviewer and microwaved the water and sugar and put some ice cubes in it to cool it. The only drawback that I could see with this recipe is that it was too sweet for my husband and I so I added less sugar. To make it more to our tastes, I just added some more water and the juice of one extra lemon. Very good!

Sausage Crescent Rolls

These were actually excellent! I had some filling left over so just rolled some up in a regular croissant, I think I will do them this way from now on. I also added carmelized onion, which I think enhanced the flavor.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
My husband LOVED these cookies and could not stop eating them while they cooled. The only thing that I would do differently is eliminate the cloves and replace it with more cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg- it was a little strong for me. Other than that, a great cookie!

these were ok to me. It was, I think just to much flavors going on at one time. I think I will stick to eating my bacon wrapped smokies and jalapeno poppers seperately.
