Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
Very nice sauce. I didn't have anchovy or marjoram but otherwise followed the recipe. Very tasty but light. I liked the texture on my ciabatta bread pizzas. Not over powering like some other sauces can be.

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
Excellent recipe with fantastic texture. Worked out perfectly using my bread machine. I posted pictures of it and I'm using it for pizza crust after baking it. I'm sure this crust will be delicious. I did add about 1/2 tsp of garlic powder to the dough and it's made the bread very nice. I used 1 loaf for our pizzas and the other loaf I cut into some slices to dip in evoo and some seasonings. Woweee.. better than the restaurant!

Simple Carnitas

Very nice flavor. I followed the directions exactly except I put in the slow cooker for about 5 hours on high. Shredded nicely. I liked the flavor infused by the oranges but it wasn't overwhelming. Thanks Ken for a great recipe! Cheap but delicious.

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
I, too, baked this in the oven at 350 for about 65 minutes. I used the oven because I hadn't really read the directions until it was too late. I will try it in the crockpot next time though. I used Egg Beaters to replace the eggs and fat-free bread crumbs. Instead of the sage I used Greek Seasoning. Next time I think I'll reduce the brown sugar in the topping to 1 tablespoon as it was rather sweet. What gave it the 5 stars was the taste and texture. Perfect cutting meatloaf that stayed together just right. I can't wait to make meatloaf sandwiches tomorrow :)

Northwest Steakhouse Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I had 2 very thin cut t-bones and I smeared the softened butter mixture over (using only 1 tbls of butter for 2 steaks). The flavor was delicious. I cooked on a cast iron grill pan for about 2 1/2 minutest per side, perfectly cooked and great flavor. Thanks for this recipe and next I'd like to try it on chicken.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Very nice loaf of bread, quite sweet but oh so tasty warm from the oven. I did cut the recipe in half but I still needed to knead in about 3/4 cup extra flour (in order not to be sticky). It rose nice and high. I brushed with egg yolk before baking and put a pan of water into the bottom shelf of the oven to bake along with the bread. The crust was perfect.

Ground Bologna Sandwich Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
I used to make this years ago and it works great in a food processor if you don't have a meat grinder. I also use ham for the same thing. I like to use bread & butter pickles but that's your choice. I also grind up some onion into the mix before adding the mayo/miracle whip.

Sugarless Fruitcake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Wow, I am so pleasantly surprised how great this tastes! I used 1/2 tsp of nutmeg instead of mace and then used a whole 20oz crushed pineapple. Followed the rest of the ingredients on the recipe. I did bake it for an extra 15 min for a total of 55 and my picky husband said it was one of the best fruitcakes he's ever had! Thank you, thank you since I've been searching for a great recipe for Fruitcake.

Slow Cooker Western Omelet

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Pretty good but the timing and spice is so wrong. I put it in the crockpot about midnight and I got up at 5am and it was completely done and starting to really brown on the sides.. ON LOW! This just won't work for overnight breakfast. It was so bland, it needs a lot more salt in my opinion. I did save it by adding some homemade pico de gallo so it made it edible. I won't be making this again.

Yankee Salad

I really liked this. I had some left over cooked angel hair pasta so I used my pastry cutter in a big bowl and cut the noodles all into little bits. Then put the rest of the ingredients. I did 1/2 everything and it still makes enough for about 10 people. Great way to use up noodles not used for the dinner. Thank you so much Linda for posting this great recipe.

Simple Baked Apples

I used Splenda and fat-free 1/2 & 1/2. I followed the other's suggestions about putting the spices & flour into a ziplock. That worked perfect. I also left out the raisins since I didn't have any. I'm rating it 4 stars because it looks awful but the taste is good. I'll make it again but never for guests.

Sourdough Tomato Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Wow, very nice right out of the oven with butter. I served with beef stew and it was perfect. I did get 3 rather large boules out of this recipe so it could be cut in half and would be just right, at least for us. As the previous reviewer said, I may add a bit more salt next time, and there will be a next time!

Kyle's Favorite Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Very good! I only browned the stew meat and put the veggies in raw (without sauteing). I also didn't use mushrooms. Otherwise, followed the directions. I had to add about 2 more cups of homemade beef broth to bring it to the consistancy we like. I used a Shiraz for the wine, we like that flavor and it was perfect. I have tons of leftovers so I added a can of tomatoes, can of corn and a can of peas to the crockpot and will cook for a couple more hours. That's the way my hubby prefers.
