The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
I rated this a 4 only b/c I did not follow recipe exactly. Per other reviewers, I added 2/3 cup lemon juice and the zest of 2 lemons b/c we like it more tart. Also added an extra T of flour. Other than that, everything was the same. My hubby really likes it b/c it's not too sweet.

Whipped Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
Okay dude... I did this BY HAND. My boyfriend and I took turns doing the 'whipping'. I think it turned out quite yummy. edspecially used as a dip for this sites Award Winning Chocolate Chip Cookies. I used regular sugar and twice the amount of it and the vanilla. I love that you can play around with this basic base. Thanks for sharing. :)

Emily's Excellent Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Interesting. So while I was making this, I was scared and a little disappointed. Then when it was done and I garnished it, and it looked better, I felt okay. Then when I ate some, I almost finished half the pan by myself. I used Hot Chilli with ground beef and Jack Cheese. I dont know if it was because it was flavored with hunger, but it was pretty good. Oh, and I'd call this "Nachos".

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Woah... I cannot explain to you how delicious these are. I used the allrecipe site and made the homemade basic whipped cream and put it on these. My boyfriend wants to marry me now and I feel like I can go on Americas Top Chef and just make these over and over and win the season. I halved the recipe and added a little salt and baking powder and extra vanilla to the cookies. I used reg. sugar and added extra for the cream. I made these cookies pretty thick, and they stayed soft overnight. Sooo good...THANKS!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

these had great texture and rose up very nicely, but the taste wasn't all that special, pretty bland actually. it either needs to be sweeter or saltier. next time i will add a little bit more of either sugar or salt.

Rice Pudding

This was fabulous after I changed a few things: 2 cups of cooked rice 1 can coconut milk, the rest milk (about 2 cups) cinnamon instead of nutmeg half a cup of plump raisins (soak in hot water) baked at 350 about an hour and let cool for 15 minutes

Followed directions as is. Nothing special. I would have no problem making them again, but they did not stand out from other candied yams. Giving them four stars because they do not deserve three.

Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
WOW!!! i've never made bran muffins before b/c i wasn't sure if my kids would like them. i want to eat healthier, so i decided to try these out. i made a few subs from what i had on hand. used applesauce instead of oil, 1/2 WW/white flour, used Raisin Bran cereal then added 1/2 cup cranberries to the batter, then sprinkled raw sugar on top. fantastic! both my boys have already eaten 2 and i just took them out of the oven 15 mins ago. will definately put these into my rotation. perfect healthy snack.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Was pretty disappointed with this recipe. It was not very cheesy at all. It seemed very dry to me. Followed the directions the full way through. It made a ton of food, and the leftovers did not reheat nice at all. But I guess thats expected with mac and cheese. The only reason I am giving it three stars is because some people in my family seemed to like it a little bit. Will not be trying this one again.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I was very torn when deciding how many stars to give this recipe. I don't like to hand out five stars very easily. This was very tasty, and when it came down to it, this recipe deserves five stars because after all, it is only green bean casserole. And for how good it tasted for green bean casserole, it earned it. My family made me make a second dish of it the day after Christmas, because that was the first dish to go, and even with all the other leftovers, they still wanted more of this one.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I have only been making pies for a short while now, but this was by far the best pie crust that I have ever tasted in my life, not to mention that I have ever made. No other recipe I have tried comes close to this. I did substitute 3/4's of a cup of shortening, for 3/4's of a cup of butter, for taste. But leaving a cup of shortening for flakiness.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Very good apple pie. I made this with "Ruth's Grandma's Pie crust" from this site, which I strongly recommend. I added one teaspoon cinnamon, and a half teaspoon nutmeg, from the advice of another reviewer. Get as much of the caramel on the lattice top as possible, you will not regret it.

Chocolate Pretzels

one word: ADDICTIVE! i used the waffle pretzels with hugs and the kisses with the caramel in the middle. i accidentally grabbed the peanut M&Ms but it turned out so yummy with that peanut crunch. i took it to my son's 1st grade Christmas party and the kids chowed down. will definately make these over and over again.

Beef Barley Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Really, really good. i sub'd stew meat for the ground beef and used a bouillion cube instead of granules, and just threw in a bag of frozen cherry tomatoes from my summer garden instead of the canned ones. everything else was the same. it did take quite a bit longer with the stew meat (10 hours was just right.) it's very hearty and filling and i loved it with a dollop of sour cream on top and some homemade bread!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly and it was easy and tasty! The consistency was nice and thick and it dried pretty fast. I was a little freaked out about using shortening but if I try not to think about it it's a delicious frosting. I'm curious how it would taste with butter instead.
