Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed on Nov. 27, 2009 by MegBiery
Fantastic pie! I added extra cinnamon and nutmeg (about 2 tbs each) along with a tablespoon of vanilla to the syrup and it caramelized beautifully with the apples. My friends call it "caramel apple pie", and it tastes as good as it sounds! It's also very versatile.. I've made it with fresh pie crust and lattice top, store-bought pie crust with whole top, and graham cracker crust with streusel topping and it ALWAYS comes out beautifully!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2009 by noonie4
Great recipe. I make them every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Covering the bacon in brown sugar first, then wrapping the mini wieners works well. And rather than using toothpicks, I just use large skewer sticks and put about 5-6 on each stick. You can fit about 10-12 skewers on a baking sheet, and it makes it very easy and quick to turn them half way through cooking. Most people enjoy eating them off the stick too, or you can just remove them and put them in a crock pot/warming dish and they don't fall apart after being cooked.
