Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
I am a lover of all things peanut butter! And these do not disappoint. Great peanut butter flavor, moisty, chewey, and better than anything you'd buy in a grocery store. This will for sure be my go to recipe in the future. You also might want to try Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles, those are fantastic as well.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
Dynamite! As per other reviews, I did add 1 cup of apples. Omitted the nuts, because I didn't have any on hand, but next time I think I'll use pecans. I followed the recipe exactly except for the amount of apples, and I do think that the sugar amount could be scaled back a bit. Next time I'll do the 1/2 cup of brown sugar and only 1/4 cup of white. I also scaled WAY back on the topping, cooked it in a round, stoneware pan, and boy these turned out wonderfully. A keep for sure!

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
WOW! So yummy! These seriously taste like something you would get at a breakfast place. Delish. I did add a little extra buttermilk to thin out the batter, but other than that, my stand mixer whipped these babies right up. I will never again buy the stuff from the store.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
While these rolls weren't quite the recipe I was looking for, they sure turned out great! Super tasty, really easy to make. I do not have a bread machine, so I just followed the recipe directions by using my stand mixer. I let the mixer do all the work for about 5 minutes and then kneaded the dough for another 5 on my board. Tore off balls of dough, and baked on my stoneware. Turned out perfectly moist, brown and delish! Hubby was really happy with these! Thanks for sharing...

Jalapeno Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
The flavor was really good, but I only gave it 3 stars because they are pretty labor intensive in my opinion. I followed other reviews and baked mine, and the broiled to get the bacon crispy. I think what I would do in the future is pan sear them before putting them in the oven. And find a better way to keep the cheese from leaking out. Not sure if I will make these again, but they weren't horrible.

Apple Pecan Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
While this was tasty, I really thought it was missing something. I followed the recipe exactly, and just felt like it wasn't nearly as tasty as an apple crisp. I think maybe the cobbler part was what killed it for me. I did like the pecans in it though, and might have to try adding those to my crisp recipe.

Sausage & White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was pretty good! I made it as per the recipe, except I used ground thyme because I didn't have any fresh. I'll make this again, but I think next time I'll cut the sausage up into smaller pieces. It just seemed like slicing it made for really BIG pieces in the soup. I might take the sausage out of it's casing and cook it that way. I'll also add another can of beans. This soup was filling, and tasty.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I thought these were good, but not spectacular. I used chive and onion cream cheese with a little bit of shredded cheddar mixed in. I will definitely make them again, but I won't grill them. Much, much easier just to pop them in the oven. I will also doctor up the filling. Maybe add some canned chili's and garlic powder.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
These are simply amazing! Just amazing.... I followed the recipe pretty much how it was written except I don't have a bread machine, so my stand mixer with the dough hook attachment worked great. Once dough was mixed, I let the mixer have at it for about 5 minutes, and then kneaded the dough for another 5 by hand. I doubled the filling recipe because I like ooey, gooey cinnamon rolls! Rolled out the dough, filled it up with the filling and raisins (didn't have any nuts), and then let the rolls raise for about 45 minutes. Baked as recipe stated, used the recipe icing, which was perfect. I'm going to have to freeze some of these bad boys because I could seriously eat the whole pan! BY MYSELF! These take awhile to finally get your end product, but having the stand mixer doesn't make them tedious to make. Will definitely be making these again..and again..and again....thanks for sharing!

Beer and Brown Sugar Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
This was very good. I think there are ways to improve upon it, which is why I gave it 4 stars. I did change a couple of things. I used a ziploc bag for the marinating process, I didn't add any garlic powder, but added 4 tablespoons of minced garlic, I used a whole bottle of Guinness, 1 TBSP of Soy Sauce, 5 TBSP of brown sugar, 1 TBSP on Worcestershire Sauce, and a TBSP of black pepper. I didn't have any teryaki on hand, which is why I used the soy sauce. We used a tri-tip and marinated it for about 10 hours. Threw it on the grill for about an hour and it was really tasty. My husband really liked this recipe. I think next time I'll through in a couple of jalapeno's during the marinating and some cayenne for a little heat.
