Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Delicious! I was very worried about trying this recipe, just due to the fact that all that I've ever made, or had at my family's house, has been the box stuff. I have to say this recipe is VERY simple to follow, and the results are marvelous! I though it had such a wonderful flavor and got rave reviews from all of my dinner guests. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. We'll have this every year from now on.

Rita's Sweet Holiday Baked Ham

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was my first ham and it was really good and I had a smaller ham and I wished I would have cooked it a little less. But everyone loved the flavor. Thanks

Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
Makes a wonderful chili! A few minor changes- I only made it for two people so I cut the recipe in half. It doesn't have an abundance of flavor on its own, so I added another clove of garlic, crushed red pepper, and a whole lot more chili powder (didnt measure, just dumped!). I seasoned the meat heavily when browning. I also added 8oz. of tomato sauce per the other reviews saying it wasnt moist enough, and I think that did the trick. It has a wonderful dark, rich color and the house fills with the smell. I will make this one again!

Doggie Biscuits I

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
All the dogs that tried these really enjoyed them,One dog, was whimpering to get at the rest of the bag!! hahahaha The only thing is, like other reviewers said, i think the proportions are a bit off. I used less water, per other reviewers and then i subbed some of the oil for bacon fat- but I think you can cut back on a 1/2 cup. the dough was so greasy I had to keep adding flour and oats and cornmeal. Dough was easy to roll on parchment paper, and i used regular cookie cutters and then to make a smaller bite size treat cookie for my Boston Terrier (and friends small dogs) I used a water bottle cap to cut out little circular cookies. We tried these, they were flavorless to us, but the dogs loved them and so did all the dog owners when i gave them as birthday party favors. Im going to make these again and again!!!

Winter Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I'm confused. All the other reviews are stellar, but my socks weren't knocked off. It needs something-like a sauce. There is little to no moisture when its finished cooking, and makes the overall impression of the dish less appealing. I will make it again however. It was tasty, easy, and healthy. I think next time I will pour 1/2 C. apple cider over everything befor baking to create more of a juice/sauce.

Southern as You Can Get Collard Greens

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
I cooked my turkey necks for an 1/2 hour and then put in 3 bunches of greens. Sauteed an onion and bellpepper and added them to the greens. I added a little vegetable oil and let it simmer for 2 hours. It was jammin. Thanks for the recipe. I always have a hard time with greens. Your recipe was very helpful. Thanks.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Thanks for the recipe. It was quite good. I just substituted the butter for shortening and followed the suggestions of doubling the apple glaze, but not the apples. We had it with cornbread and collard greens. It was gooooood!!!! will put this on rotation.

Golden Pork Chops

I really enjoyed this recipe. I followed the advise of browning the meat on the stove and then putting it in the oven. It was great. I never eat pork chops or mushrooms but this recipe was excellent. Thank you!!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This is very delicious! I made this recipe cut down for two, except I used fresh tomatoes and still used 3 cloves garlic (love garlic) and it was sooooo tasty! My husband was dipping frenchbread in the juices toward the end of the cooking. the chicken was so flavorful and not a bit dry! We ate this with spinach & french bread. This would be excellent with a little more sauce over angelhair. Thanks!

Pork Apple Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
These burgers came out really juicy! We will definately be making these again. I used ground turkey instead of Pork, added an extra garlic clove and cooked them in a skillet, lightly coated with Pam. The balance of the turkey patty w/ the pineapple slice was excellent and the burgers were so juicy you didn't really need mayo or anything on the bun. Dont press down the patty, just let it cook and the juices just plump them up! We ate these with some lightly pan fried salty-seasoned red potato fries. My husband enjoyed his burger so much he went back for a 2nd patty!
