It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
This chili was so good, I couldn't help but sneak into the frige at night to take little bites of the leftovers. My only changes we're to omit the tomato juice for a can of whole tomatoes which I chopped up. Also I used all pinto beans, since I'm a wierdo and I don't like kindey. Lastly, just added a little chopped up jalapeno! My hubby is going to give me a hard time for breaking into the chili I set aside for his lunch tomorrow...lol!

Red River Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
This was great beef stroganoff and I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a great recipe. I cut the butter down to 1/4 cup because that seemed like too much. I seasoned the flour with Emeril's Essence and pepper, added 4 cloves garlic , 1 large onion and a pinch of sugar and 1 tablespoon Heinz Organic Ketchup along with the broth and seasonings. It thickened up beautifully and I had no problem at all with it being runny like some reviewers. Make sure you coat the meat with the full 1/4 cup of flour. I simmerede it about 20 minutes before adding the sour cream.I served it over extra wide egg noodles garnished with fresh minced parsley. I have tried dozens of stroganoff recipes and this one stands out as one of the best. My husband said MMMMM after his first bite and said how tasty it was. I'm making this my keeper beef stroganoff recipe and it doesn't require planning ahead like the crock pot recipes.Thanks. If you're wondering if you should try this......DO IT!

So easy, healthy ,inexpensive and tasty! What more can you ask for? I used Hunt's petite diced tomatoes and added minced garlic. Yummy and light...looking forward to the leftovers!

Simmered Sirloin with Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
Excellent and easy recipe. It was not too dry like one reviewer said, it was perfect. I added 1 stalk diced celery, a little red wine, a pinch of sugar and fresh ground black pepper to the recipe. I garnished it with fresh minced parsley and served it over egg noodles alongside steamed broccoli and sourdough rolls. Yum! I will be making this again. Thanks!

Pie Crust V

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
Great pie crust. I always buy crust instead of making it from stratch, but I'm glad I tried it. This is a quick and easy recipe for even a first timer. I followed other reviews and put a whole egg. I also rolled out the dough onto plastic wrap (didn't have parchment paper). I used it with sweet potatoe pie- it was delicious!

Casablanca Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
The balance of sweet and spicy was great. My husband preferred it to be a little more spicy, said it was too sweet, so I cut back on the mango chutney (only kind in our store was a sweet and spicy mix-so it made the dish a little sweeter and brown sugar some and he enjoyed it better. But try it first the way the recipe calls for it.

Mexican Spaghetti Sauce

Delicious and a keeper. I added garlic and green/ red bell peppers and omitted the corn. I topped this with cheddar/mozzarella cheese, sour cream and green onions. My son said it was the best spaghetti ever and he gobbled it up. Great blend of flavors. Thanks!

Beef Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
My family loved this recipe and so did I! It was perfectly creamy and yummy. Comfort food at its best. I used ground turkey and added 1 stalk of celery, onion, garlic, and 1/2 of a green bell pepper. I used seasoned salt instead of the garlic salt and I added a tsp. of chili powder. I used a blend of sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and sprinkled the top with fresh minced parsley. I think the amount of cheese in the recipe is the perfect amount and I didn't think it needed more, like so many others did. This wonderful recipe will be made again and again. My hubby usually doesn't love these types of dishes like I do, but he raved about this one and said he couldn't stop eating it-we fought over the leftovers. Thank You!

Grilled Chicken Burgers

I didn't like this recipe because of the texture. I followed the recipe and no-one wanted to eat them. I ended up tossing them. Also ground chicken is very expensive where I live. I think I'll stick to turkey burgers.

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
I made these muffins with my 4 year old and her friend and they loved them. For a kid size twist, I used mini cupcake wrappers and cut the recipe in half. It made about 18 mini muffins. They came out too cute. They really enjoyed making them and the recipe was super simple. I usually shy away from making muffins, however this recipe is a keeper. It's so nice to make your own fresh muffins, instead of buying those terrible tasting store ones. Thanks!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
Very good cookie! I used crunchy unsalted peanut butter and I also found that I did not need to use a fork. I tried the filling, but actually like them better without. If you do make the filling, I recommend cutting the filling recipe in half because it does make alot. I will make these again.

Cranberry Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
We love these chops. I make them just like the recipe says, except I season the chops first with some Emeril's Essence and brown them in oil . I add a little Worcestershire sauce and follow the recipe the rest of the way exactly. I love using the bone-in chops-more flavor. I usually serve them with mashed potatoes and broccoli or green bean casserole. It reminds me of Thanksgiving. This is one of the best pork chop recipes I have ever tried and my 5 year old son also loves them and usually he doesn't like pork chops.

Jet Swirl Pizza Appetizers

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
This is a great recipe to experiment with. I chose to following many of the suggestions listed. I used fresh pizza dough from my local supermarket. I placed the pepperoni in the microwave for 15 seconds to reduce the grease. I also added pizza sauce (tomato sauce with 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp italian seasoning) before I put the meat on. I also sprinkled a little olive oil on top before I rolled it up. More olive oil went on the bottom and top of the roll. I have one of those oven that cooks everything faster than the recipe states so it only took about 20 minutes. I served this for dinner with a salad. My family loved it and there is enough leftovers for lunch tommorrow. I will make this again, next time trying vegetables.

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
I do not like any form of fast food fried chicken, KFC..nasty! This recipe however was awesome. It was the 1st time I've ever attempted to make fried chicken and is far better than any other I've ever tried. Even my boyfriend who usually gives my new recipes a so-so, told me to rate this as high as I could. Only thing I did different was to dip the chicken in each mixture twice & let it set 10-15 mins before adding it to the pan. Thanks for opening my eye to the goodness of fried chicken!

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
This is my favorite recipe ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really can't understand how some people said this was bland. The flavors blend perfectly and are better than any shrimp I've ever had at a restaurant. We make this every two weeks and I would never dream of changing anything about this recipe and that's amazing coming from me because I tweek almost every recipe I get! We serve this with Guy Fieri's Bloody Mary flank steak and his Bomb Bakers ( baked potatoes that have been brined before they're baked and served with horseradish cream sauce), and asparagus with a balsalmic reduction. This has been on our Sunday dinner menu twice a month for 2 years now.The cayenne gives just the right kick. I will eat them until they are gone-no matter how many I make. I wish I could give this recipe 10 stars! Simplicity at its best! Thank you! This is also on my birthday dinner menu!

Curly Noodle Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
This soup was very tasty, easy to prepare and hearty. My family all loved it, even my 5 year old who was complaining that he didn't want soup for dinner-lol! I added slied zucchini in with the chicken and veggies along with a bay leaf. When it was time to add the pasta I also added some frozen green peas and about 1/4 cup fresh minced parsley.Along with the spices ,I added a pinch of sugar, salt, Accent, and Emeril's Essence. Avery yummy soup that I will make again. IMO, Taste of Home always has the best recipes!

Ting-Town Barbeque Beef Sandwich

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
This recipe was excellent. If you follow it exactly it thickens up perfectly. The only changes I made was : I rubbed my roast with cajun seasoning and seared it in vegetable oil before putting it in the slow cooker, and I added 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce. I used Sweet Baby Ray's for my bbq sauce. These sandwiches had just the right kick and were the best I've had .I will be using this recipe again . Thanks!

Pecan Bars by EAGLE BRAND®

Made it for the in-laws for christmas since they love pecan pie and I didn't fell up to making a pie, and they loved it. It was easy to do and I actually liked it too and I don't like pecan pies. Sent what was left home with them and their friends loved it and now they want the recipe too. Like one of the other members I had to cook it a little longer too.
