I was terrified to try Red Velvet cake due to all the horrible outcomes I read about. I'm proud to say that it didn't turn out too bad! It was a tad dry, but not to the point where it was crumbling. Next time I try this I will do what another user wrote, add a little more shortening. The recipe says to alternate adding the dry ingredients with the buttermilk. This is so important. I alternated and blended very well before adding the next. The batter came out smooth and creamy. The end result was good, just a little bit dry. I'm happy with the results though!
