Cinnamon Apple Jelly

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This jelly is really good but we discovered that it sets better if it is cooked longer and on medium heat rather than high heat. The batches that were made cooking on high did not set as well as the batches made on medium heat. We found that if you cooked it for 15-20 minutes (after adding the sugar) at a boil over medium heat that the results were much better. VERY YUMMY though - a wonderful sweet surprise. If it doesn't set as jelly it's great as a pancake syrup or over ice cream

FANTASTIC pumpkin butter. We had never heard of it but used this recipe to try it and it was a tremendous hit with the entire family. They ate up the whole batch in less than a week. Thank you

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Very tasty, but a little time consuming. I do a bar recipe that tastes as good but can whip up in 10 min. For Valentines treats for my AWANA class I made these in rubber ice cube trays shaped like hearts. Some of them cracked coming out, obviously not the problem of the recipe, but my own variation on it.

Peppermint Meringues

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
Recipe as written a 4, I thought they needed some peppermint extract so I added it. Also just for some visual intrest I painted my ziplock piping bag with red food gel stripes so that the meringues had a candy cane appearance. turned out very cute! Check out the picture. And not hard at all! I'll make these every Christmas season.

I made this cake when I was courting my wife. I think that she married me cause of this cake. (Now she can't eat dairy so she can't have this anymore).

This is always a hit when I make it. Every time I do make it people want the recipe. I do use fresh onions when I make chopping them as small as I choose.

Chicken Souvlaki Gyro Style

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This had fantastic flavor and really hit spot. Reminded me of my husband and I's favorite college Pita haunt. As to the people confused by the recipe's chicken marinade make sure you are using a balsamic vinegrette as specified instead of straight balsamic vinegar, 2 TOTALLY different things. Vinegrette is a salad dressing made with equal parts or slightly more Olive Oil to balsamic in addition to garlic, herbs, etc.. The recipe is just fine as written! Thank you for the walk down memory lane!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Really did not care for these, the idea sounded good and other peoples pictures looked good, but mine, just an "eh". I used a strawberry cake mix, cream cheese frosting, and dipped in chocolate. They were messy to dip, didn't come out nearly as pretty as I'd hoped, by the end half my "chocolate" was cake crumbs. Don't think I'll give these another shot.

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Definately one of my new favorite deserts! I stuck to the recipe completely, though next time will use slightly more cornstarch as mine was still a little soupy. Here's what I did for the baking of it though. Put the peaches, and everything that goes with the peaches into a large cast iron skillet, cook on the stove boiling and letting it thicken for 8-10 min. Then scoop the cobbler topping on top and sprinkle with cin/sugar, same cooking as before. p.s. do not forget to foil line a baking sheet to put under your dish!

Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
My family loves this recipe!!! It's quick, easy, and kid-friendly... all 4 of my kids will usually take seconds (even my 2-yr old will sit down and eat all her dinner without fussing). I sprinkle the cheese over the top instead of mixing it into the pasta though... I think it makes it look a little more appetizing.

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I was incredibly leary about trying this recipe while reading the ingredients but decided to give it a whirl when I ended up out of syrup on pancake morning. I NEVER have buttermilk on hand so had to sub that with 2%milk mixed with 1 tb of lemon juice. My kids and I really loved the flavor, the consistency kind of threw us, it is not thick at all, very runny but also not sticky as store bought syrups are. Overall very good recipe! We enjoyed it and will use again, maybe instead of store-bought!

This recipe was awesome and delicious. But I did add 2 8-ounce cans of tomato sauce instead of the water. Kind of made it a little more saucier. My 4 kids (ages 18 months, 8 yrs, 9 yrs, and 11 yrs old) loved it!!!!

Thin Mint Crackers

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
This is such a good cookie! Very intersting how a cracker can turn into something so delicious. Also used 2 bags of Andes mints. Kept the chocolate melted in my chocolate dipping pot. Used tongs to flip the crackers. My 5 year old daughter made almost the whole batch after showing her how to do it so really not complicated.

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
This is after a 8 hour sit in the fridge, but the cake so far is very good and I'm sure only going to get better by tomorrow. I altered a couple things just based on what was in my pantry. Cinnamon grahms, and oreo pudding, also didn't have jar frosting so followed the reccomendation of others and used the chocolate sauce recipe by BaysChick. I will probably try with vanilla pudding the next time, but the oreo cookie pudding is very acceptable!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 8, 2007
Very, very good! My husband who thought he didn't like snickerdoodles ate about 10 when he took these to work, the rest were ate up in about 30 minutes. I did alter the recipe slightly being that I don't carry shortening any longer. Did 1 c. butter and added 1 egg. Also followed the advice to take out at 8 minutes even though they appear underdone, this made a very moist cookie. Delicious!

These were awesome! I loved the scent that filled my house and the flavor was superb. The only change I made was using chocolate covered raisins because apparently my K-Mart doesn't carry regular raisins! Anyway, they turned out excellent.
