Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
I have owned my machine since 2003 and have used it alot. Never have I made such a wonderful light and fluffy bread. I love my machine but was tired of bread that wasn't soft like the store bought. So I tried this recipe and like many was a bit leary on the mixing yeast with the water. My machine says not too. But I listened to my trusty family on line here and WOW this was truly amazing. I follwed the suggestions of eveyone and added an extra 1/2 tsp salt. I used some Whole wheat flour as well. I set the machine and took off. When my family come home there was a beautiful loaf of perfect bread waiting for us to chow on. Only one problem.....we ate it all too fast and now it's gone...have to make more. I love that there are only 6 ingredients!!

Excellent! I didn't use tomatoes, but added raspberries, romaine lettuce, and balsamic vinagrette. It was a crowd pleaser!

Three-Berry Lemon Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I made this for my daughter's graduation party. It was a little too lemony for my taste as well as tasting sort of "fake lemon", so next time I'll use vanilla yogurt and cut back on the lemon juice. Otherwise, people loved it and I will definitely make it again.

Quick and easy yes. I found the taste a bit on the dull side with not much character. No pizzaz.

Warm Apple Buttermilk Custard Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
Oh my gosh, this pie is devine!! It will easily be enough for 2 crusts. I doubled the recipe and had left over custard. I just cooked it in a seperate dish with the pies and topped it with struesel and had another dessert. This is a definite "do again"!! Please note that it is a time consuming pie to make but you get what you bargain for!!

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
These are FANTASTIC!! I have made these about 6 or 7 times now in the past 3 weeks. So easy and good. I make them because we try to cut back on buying snacks at the store due to costs. The changes I made to make them fit my household were these: instead of 1 cup of flour I used 1 cup of my house flour which is: 1/3C of wheat germ, 1/3C whole wheat flour and 1/3C of unbleached all purpose flour. Then I added dried bing cherries, some chocolate chips and pecans. The batch I am making now have craisins, chocolate chips and almonds. My children can't stop eating these and they are perfect for their lunch snacks and after school and sports snacks. Thank you!!!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
I tried this but then added my own twist to try to emulate Applebee's Fiesta Lime Chicken...I did the recipe almost exactly, added tequilla with the lime, but then at the end de-glazed the pan with broth. Then topped the chicken with salsa-ranch and Cheddar and placed on a bed of crumbled chips and broiled...sooooooooooo good! The flavor of the chicken is what really made it! Next time I'll just try the chicken shredded into tacos, or over nachos! MMMM! This is my new favorite chicken!

Garlic Potato Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2008
I certainly never like giving a bad review especially since this has no reviews yet.....but the only thing I did differently was to replace the white flour with wheat and these biscuits tasted doughy. Even though they were cooked and looked just beautiful...they tasted like dough. I guess it's the mashed potato's that did it. We are big biscuit eaters and it was hard to eat these. I'm so sorry.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I have tried for 15 years to make tortillas. Each time I'd fail and throw the idea away. Then I decided to try it again with your recipe. I didn't use the wheat flour. I just made flour and I used my electric mixer. They were AWESOME!!!! I am so excited. I am hispanic, and although my grandmothers both made homemade tortillas I never got to learn prior to their passing. So Thank YOU again!!!!

Tasty! Here's a tip...use powdered sugar so it disolves. Regular sugar can be grainy. Also don't use that nasty splenda cr*p, it's so bad for you. This is just like an orange julius!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
This is one of my family's favorite. We make them into small breadsticks. Using fast rising yeast, let it sit for ten minutes after kneading (should rise a little) and then shape into breadsticks. Brush with melted butter, parmesan and garlic pepper. Let them rise for about 20 minutes then cook for 14 minutes at 250 degrees. Delicious!!
