The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
This is hands-down the best sugar cookie recipe I've ever found. I add an extra cup of sugar and extra tsp of vanilla as suggested and they turn out perfect.

For a decadent adult version of this, drizzle Kahlua on the chocolate cake layer! I have been doing this for years and it's definately a hit.

Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
I halved this recipe and it came out perfectly! 1 lb. of cukes per quart is right on! I was bummer out to find one of the jars broke in the water bath. I've never had that happen before but heard that it can. All sealed nicely. I used baby dill and more garlic. I'll be making these again as soon as I find some jars!

Bread and Butter Pickles II

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
These came out really nice! I added the red peppers for color like suggested. I packed the jars with the veg first then added the liquid but I had to make more since there wasn't enough of the vinegar mix. I also did the water bath canning method (15 mins) just to be safe. I think I'll leave out the turmeric next time since it leaves a sediment at the bottom of the jars..not too pretty. I halved the recipe but made the full recipe of liquid and had to make more. After all of the adjustments I'll be sure to make these again.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I love my whirley-pop popcorn, but I don't measure and sometimes get things a little too salty. This is our favorite way to "rescue" the popcorn. So much so, that my husband has asked me to over-salt a batch just so I'd make this again. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Tzatziki Sauce (Yogurt and Cucumber Dip)

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I halved the recipe for just the two of us and wished I hadn't - I would have used it for a dip for pita chips. I didn't have the mint so used dill, still delish!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I made two batches of this, one with a crumb topping and one without. The loaf and muffins with the topping were definitely our favorite. I didn't drain the zucchini and each batch took four small ones to make the two cups.

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
This is our favorite recipe. We make these often and the real crab tastes so much better than recipes using imitation (too sweet). We don't like water chestnuts so used 3 green onions chopped instead. Also, instead of the paprika I used cayenne pepper for a little kick.

Veggies on the Grill

If you're looking for way to cut calories and don't want to sacrifice flavor or just like tasty food this is tops. So far I've tried this on grilled potatoes and I give it 5 stars. The only change I made is E.V.O.O (Olive Oil) in place of veg. oil but makes the spuds come alive. Thanks to H. Ross Njaa for this keeper. PA's Kitchen

Really loved this recipe. I used vanilla soy milk instead of milk and added more vanilla and they were amazing. I filled them with nutella, bananas, strawberries for a dessert. Then for a breakfast filled them with yogurt and granola. There are endless possibilities. My familiy loved them!

Cinnamon-Raisin Granola

This was the first time I had ever made granola. Overall the recipe was very simple and tasty, but more like a cereal than a real crunchy granola. I think its a good base to work off to make a better granola with different add ins.

Slow Cooker Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
This was on my list of soups to learn to make!! Very pleased with it and the outcome. I used a can of chicken broth instead of the water and chicken bouillon. I seasoned it with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Prior to adding the milk and flour mixture I warmed it up in a seperate bowl, so I wouldn't be adding cold milk into a hot crock pot. This reduces the chances of curdling(?) with the milk. I serve with sour cream, shredded cheese and bacon crumbled on top. I also serve it in a sour dough bread bowl!!!
