This recipe is easy and I used the crock pot. It tasted kind of sweet which is typical for Hawaiian dishes. It's good served with rice.

Steak Pie

Going northern european style is great for the fall! I added 2 chopped parsnips, a chopped turnip, ~1 cup chopped carrots, and a roasted bulb of garlic with the onions, and 1/4 cup grenache/syrah once the vege's were tender. Spiced (to taste) with Bay leaf, herbs de provence, paprika, celery salt, tumeric, fresh ground mixed peppercorns & increased the worchestershire to 2 tsp. Next time i'll include a couple fingerling potatoes.

I added ~1/2 cup of raisins to add a little sweetness and replaced the olive oil with mayo. Very nice on toast or just by itself.

Butternut Squash and Turkey Chili

Easy, healthy, and hearty! Ignore where it says it serves 12, though. I think this, along with some crusty bread or some sweet cornbread, would have served 4 perfectly.

These were decent. I have made them a few times. They are better when you put them score side down...but just ok, nothing special. I probably will not make these again.

Butternut Squash and Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
I was very hesitant to add squash to chili, but i went for it (Acorn instead of Butternut). I forked the outside of the squash and baked for 15 mins at 400F before peeling and adding to pot. I replace the diced tomatoes & tomatoe sauce with 2 (10oz) cans of Spicy Rotel and a small can of tomato paste and 1 cup of broth. The recipe started out pretty bland, but was improved with additionalchili powder (total: 2 tblsp Chimayo Red + 2 tsp Pasilla)

Excellent - followed Discobunny's recommendation on the baking powder/baking soda trade-off & buttermilk substitution, and didnt knead the dough. Definitely the best biscuits i've ever made.

Needs a little work. The first time I made this it was a little dry. The flavor was outstanding but needs to be more moist. Also it's important to make extra sauce to use in place of catchup to serve with.

WOW!!! I literally closed my eyes as I savored the first bite of this delicious dessert. I served it hot and with vanilla ice cream. YUMMY!! We were all blown away! It was so rich and buttery! Next time, I'll probably cut the sugar, butter, and dew in half and I'm sure it will be just as good but with half the fat. Will MOST DEFINETELY make again and again!! FANTASTIC RECIPE!!!!!!!!

Pumpkin Roll-Out Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
I like this cookie. I did make a few minor adjustments, by zesting an entire orange...which made maybe 1.5 tablespoons instead of one and by using only cinnamon to flavor the pumpkin, because thats what I had on hand. I also used fresh pumpkin that I roasted and then boiled down. They taste orangey like that, but I think it tastes better with more orange flavor. They were ok to roll out.As long as you have enough flour dusted it doesnt stick. I cut them in halloween shapes and I will be making them for halloween! Thanks for the recipe.
