Just what I needed to know. They turned out great although I cooked them about twice as long.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
A roasted turkey has so much more flavor than a bird out of a bag. This was a first time endeavor for me and now I know. We turned the turkey over 2/3 of the way through and now I've been hearing to turn it in the last half hour, just enough to roast the breast. It didn't need anymore cooking when I turned it so the turkey ended up a little overdone. I would do the last half hour next time but I will also pay more attention next time as it cooked a lot faster in the last fifteen minutes than it had in the previous three and a half hours. I do highly recommend the roasting and not using a bag concept, though. It's just so fantastic when it gets to be roasted instead of steamed. I'm a convert!

Broccoli Rice Casserole

My fiance's family has a recipe I think is fantastic. He loves it, too. He loves this recipe more! It was so easy and turned out perfectly. I used fresh broccoli, not frozen, and it was fantastic.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
I grew up with this pot roast and nothing beats it! I made it for my future mother-in-law and her husband and his father as well as my fiance and they were amazed at the gravy that you don't have to do anything to make. They also couldn't believe how amazing the flavor was or how tender the meat was. It's the juiciest roast with the best flavor. So very easy for a fabulous meal on a weeknight! I love it! I just want to add, if you get the wrong cut of beef, it will turn out dry. The best cut to use for this is beef chuck or a shoulder roast.

Chicken Pesto Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
I loved this pizza and yet it wasn't quite right. With that said, I don't think this pizza was the problem but rather the pesto I used. I want to get that stuff gone - it's a pesto I do love on pasta but a little too lemony for this pizza. I plan to try this again exactly as it is with a home made pesto and I also want to try it substituting alfredo sauce for the pesto sauce. I will definitely make it again, though.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
There is no other word besides heavenly to describe this cake! It was awesome. It has a fantastic flavor, it was moist and and held up well to frosting. I will be making this cake many times in the years to come. There is only one problem with this cake. One piece isn't enough! :) I can see doing what other reviewers have as just a minor tweak and what I plan to try next time is an extra egg white and 1/4 cup extra milk. I used 9" cake pans and a little more batter would have been nice.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
We loved this crust! It was so easy to make and it worked perfectly for a super thin crust pizza. If you make the full batch, you get two thin crusts out of it! We saved the second to use the next time. All I can say is I have no intention of ever ordering pizza for delivery ever again! This was a perfect crust for us!

Slow Cooker Beef Barley Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
This is a great beef barley soup recipe! I wouldn't change a thing! I did have to, though. I didn't have enough beef stock so I used beef boullion. That was fine. I also wanted to try my fresh herbs instead of the dried thyme. Other than those very minor changes, this was fantastic and very easy to make. My fiance had never had beef barley and was kind of skeptical of it and he now is a big fan of the stuff and wants more of it!

Nany's White Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
VERY DRY CAKE! I also don't think this recipe was meant for 9" cake pans as each layer was about half what it should have been. It DEFINITELY had an interesting flavor, though, and would be well worth trying again with more milk as other reviewers recommended. However, for what I was after, I'm gonna keep lookin.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
Having read previous reviews and being of the younger crowd I thought this recipe sounded like exactly what I wanted. I do think this recipe is fantastic, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It was too buttery, not creamy enough, and a bit on the sweet side. With that said, and with what other reviewers have posted, I am not scrapping this recipe but will try to alter it specifically to what I want. Beware, I halved the recipe and it iced a cake and I have enough left over for at least three more cakes. We shall see how well this stuff keeps. :)

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
This had what we considered to be an awful flavor but worse than that, it wasn't anywhere close to a salisbury steak flavor. Didn't even seem to be anything I could work with to get to what I wanted.

Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
We totally enjoyed this soup - I will be using this recipe all Winter long. I added more potatoes and I made it without the meat. I added left over pork roast and cheddar to my bowl. Instead the frozen mixed vegetables, I added frozen corn and broccoli - and, a can of green beans. I added a bit more water because I added more veggies and 1 more bouillon cube. Good Stuff!

Low-Fat Pumpkin Bread

Pretty good - I made 1 loaf with walnuts, one without. I enjoyed the nutty loaf the best. Also, I used allspice, as you get a choice, but I think nut meg will be better.

Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
I love this stuff! I will make it again and probably quite frequently as it's a nice change of pace for lunches. Added: broccoli red onion diced ham cheese crumbles Omitted: shredded cheese green olives Will omit or use depending on purpose of salad: bacon bits I made this recipe Sunday evening and it sat in the fridge overnight and into the day before it was eaten. I'd recommend that. I'd use just the ham in the future for a weekday salad because by the next day, the bacon bits were no longer crunchy. However, if serving fresh, those bacon bits are a nice little crunch. I used only about half a bottle of ranch. When taste testing, it seemed like a lot and to keep calories down, we stopped at half. However, the next day, the pasta had completley absorbed the dressing. That was interesting but overall, the flavor was fantastic and I'd do the same again next time I make this. Everyone in my office wanted this particular pasta salad, so be prepared if you are taking it to work. It was fantastic and all the colors were very appealing.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
I've always just thrown a corned beef in the pot with the packet it comes with and added potatoes, cabbage and carrots later. NEVER AGAIN! This was so fantastic! There was extra flavor, the beer made the fragrance wafting through the house a tad more interesting and it was by far the tenderest corned beef I've ever had. I love this recipe. Only twist I made was I just made the corned beef and did not go onto the sandwich stage. For a party, especially a Paddy's Day party, I definitely would try that, though.
