Davis, California

Davis is a university town that is quite well known for being "green". You will find ethnic foods of every variety here. Everywhere you look it's all about organic, fresh, and local. There is a large co-op as well as several farms that sell directly to the public. At a few of the farms you can even pick the produce yourself. It doesn't get fresher than that!

Easy Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed on May 9, 2008 by Garrett McCord
Vile. Real rhubarb jam and jelly doesn't involve crushed pineapple and strawberry jello to mar the taste of the rhubarb. A friend of mine made this and we tossed it. Made a real jam from scratch the next day.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed on Apr. 14, 2008 by Crin
This recipe worked really well for me. It had a nice bready, chewy texture. I used half whole wheat and half all purpose flour and threw in 1/2 tsp. of baking powder like others suggested. For half of the dough, I used a medium sized muffin tin to get little bite sized pizzas- it would work great for appetizers. Or dessert pizza too, if instead you spread melted butter and cinnamon-sugar on the tops and drizzle it with vanilla icing :) MmMm...

Apple Raisin Cakes

Reviewed on Apr. 12, 2008 by Crin
I can see how people think this is a bland recipe, BUT if you serve them as 'pancakes' they would be wonderful with maple syrup. Making them as thin as possible will definitely help with the blandness problem as well. For the kids or even themed parties, try placing a cookie cutter on your griddle and pour your batter into that to get cute shaped cakes! :)
