Pasties II

Good...but we still doused them with BBQ sauce to eat. They came out a little dry and lack-luster. Maybe next time add mushrooms or some more seasoning.

Crispy Orange Beef

My husband LOVED it. I thought that is was too sweet...but still good. Either way, I ended up doubling the sauce so that there would be enough, otherwise I mad it as written. Will make again.

Overnight Raisin Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
GREAT! Kids and hubby ate them up (so did I). Only changes I made were not to soak the oatmeal overnight (20 min in the morning) and I used pancake mix instead of the flour and baking soda and baking powder. Will make again soon!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
I made the sauce and had with with ramen noodles (w/o the seasoning packet). I would not do this again. Using ramen noodles was a mistake, they were mush and did not hold up to the sauce...it was a big (albeit yummy) mush pile. The sauce was great.....I plan to make it again with the noodles specified in the recipe. Rating just the sauce...Yum.... will make again.

Sopapillas

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
Yum! I made these and drizzled with honey. Now that I know that they are so easy to make, we may be in trouble :-) They were not the *best* sopapillas I have ever had, but they were a very close second...and I made them versus having them at a Mexican restaurant.

Ukrainian Sandwiches

This was good...but not great. It tasted like your basic sandwich. I was disapointed as I had expected so much more. The only change I made was to serve it on sandwich bread and not french bread.

We loved this... tasted like we were in a great Mexican restaurant. The only change I made was to not cut the pork into pieces at the beginning...I left it whole. Wonderful flavor! Yummm!!

WOW... This was great bread. Sweet and moist. Note really something I would use for a sandwhich, but great with butter and honey! Would make great dinner rolls, etc.

Simple Sugar Cookies

These were OK. They turned out more like a biscuit/cookie than an actual cookie. Too delicate to frost and not really that sweet w/o frosting. I will probably not make again.

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
this cheesecake was wonderful. I altered it a little as I felt some ingredients were unneccessary. I used oreos and butter, no sugar and no cocoa in the crust. In the cheesecake I ran out of sour cream so I used 1/4 c sour cream and 1/4 c plain yogurt. I used only 1 c sugar. I doubled the cocoa and doubled the irish cream (YUM!). As other people suggested, I only put in 1T flour. Oh and another thing is I used the fat-free cream cheese. All my alterations were perfect in looks and tastes. The presentation was pretty. I did have a slight crack on the top but thats because I forgot the water bath until half way into it. It was a pretty crack though LOL. Will make again.

Baked Bar-be-que Chicken

hubby loved this recipe! It was so simple to make! I found it didnt take as long to bake as the directions state. The meat fell off the bone and was so tender. I used Bulls Eye BBQ sauce, original flavor. I did add a touch of black pepper. Excellent.

Raspberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
These were AMAZING. They are just like ones I get from a gormet bakery in my hometown. And i've tried so many to try and figure out how they make thier SOO good. I'm so glad I finally figured it out! The only thing I changed was I used coconut milk instead of heavy cream because I'm lactose intolerant (coconut cream is the best substitute for heavy cream when baking, it's the same consistancy with just a hint of coconut flavor) and I used all vanilla extract. Although the batter is thick I still fold in the berries, but i also used frozen because fresh aren't available this time of year where i live. I let them thaw just a little to soak up the sugar but still be firm enough the fold in. It also works better as a bread instead of muffins. I've made these with strawberry/banana pieces, blackberry, raspberry, lemon zest poppyseed and plain strawberry. Everytime has came out amazing and delicous. Thanks so much for posting this!

GREAT!! But...I thought that it was better if you did NOT bake it after adding the coating....just stir well and let it cool to room temp.

This was ok. The one in my old betty crocker cookbook is better. The key to success with this recipe is the way you cook it...keep stirring to prevent lumps.
