Horseradish Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Never put horseradish in my deviled eggs before. So this was something different. I took these to my friend's house for the Thanksgiving Dinner today. They all loved them. I used French's Horseradish Mustard. So horseradish and ground mustard were already mixed together. It was awesome!!!! Thank you for this horseradish idea.

Thai Curry Tofu

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Having only been cooking tofu for about a year, I was having a hard time figuring out how to prepare a tofu dish in which you didn't taste the somewhat nutty, bland flavor of tofu (I'm not a big fan). Well, this is it! I made slight modifications: I added a green pepper (cubed), used about 10 green onions rather than one small regular onion, omitted the cilantro, used about 3 tsp red curry paste rather than powder, and added about 1 1/2 tbsp of soy sauce. (Also used reduced fat coconut milk, and then added a little corn starch/water to thicken it up a bit.) Served over jasmine rice, and I believe I may never have tofu any other way again!

Cheesy Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
These were easy and fabulous tasting!! My daughter kept saying how they resembled the Red Lobster biscuits. My husband came back after dinner to snack on the few leftovers. We will definitely make again!! Used a small cookie scopp for perfectly shaped biscuits. Added 1.5 tsp of garlic powder and added parmesan cheese over the top with about 10 minutes remaining in the baking.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This was a great tasting sauce. I had a bunch of Roma tomatoes from my garden and I just put them in the food processor and used them instead of the canned tomatoes. I used the sauce to make lasagna and OMG it was incredible. I will be making this sauce from now on. Thanks for sharing.

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Perfect! Will use as my standard banana muffin recipe. Took the advice of others and used 4 smaller bananas, 1 tsp of vanilla, some cinnamon, and 1/4 c milk. I didn't cut back on sugar and I think it was perfect. LOVE not having to have oil or butter on hand to bake something fabulous!

Hearty Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
Although I didn't use my slow cooker, I followed the recipe almost exact. The only deviation was I omitted the milk at the end as I wanted my soup thicker. I also used chicken broth instead of water. I was pleasantly surprised with the results!! First time I have ever attempted split pea soup and I will always, always use this recipe in the future! Thanks so much.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
This soup is delicious! To cook the chicken, I boiled four breasts with a whole onion, quartered, 3 cloves of garlic, 2 celery stalks, and salt and pepper. I also added poultry seasoning and used half and half in place of the cream of mushroom soup. Turned out thick and creamy- just perfect!

Carmel Apple Martini

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I thought this was just okay. I would have used less vodka, it was pretty strong tasting. Someone had put apple juice in it, that may tone it down. I don't think I'll be trying this again.

Chili Verde Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Although, I didn't follow the recipe to a "t", I think that the results were great. I didn't want to have to go to the store, so I omitted the g.pepper and the wine. I didn't have any canned chilis, so I used a can of Rotel and because of this I also omitted the salsa. Put the pork shoulder in the crock pot with garlic and cumin, added the rest and had a great dinner last night. Thanks!

Italian Sausage Soup

I doubled the recipe and took it to a church function. Everyone really enjoyed it. There was none left to bring home. I add some barley to it and used white beans. I will be making this again.

The Best Dang Rib Sauce, Period

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
I used this as a guide as I had to make tons of substitutions with what I had on hand...I loved how it turned out though! I cut back on the sugar, used no honey, and as I didn't have molasses I tried adding a bit of unsweetened chocolate for the dark flavor. I used a roasted jalapeno instead of a poblano, regular cooking white wine for marsala, white and red wine vinegar instead of cider vinegar, plus a little chipotle with adobo for the smoky flavor...LOL, it was a great guide for a fun BBQ sauce! And I was happy it didn't call for Ketchup (my apologies for making so many changes...I just didn't want to go to the store!)

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
I wanted a chilled shrimp for a party and thought this might fit the bill--it did! I made the marinade as written with one exception--I had only rice vinegar. Fresh basil and garlic is a MUST--don't substitute that dried stuff. I refrigerated for two hours and then steamed them quickly. Chilled in fridge and served cold. Yummy!

Great flavors! We put it on spaguetti, I think the bow ties would have been better. I wouldn't change a thing! I didn't give it a 5 because it has to knock my socks off for that. This was just plain good!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
So good! If you are a fan of Olive Garden's Bruschetta, I believe this would be very close to (or even better than), if you add just a couple tablespoons of grated Parmesan to the mixture and skip the cheese on top.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
These are delicious. I used butter instead of margarine. I also ended up using about 1/2 c. more flour than stated as my dough was quite sticky. I flattened my cookies and wished that I wouldn't have. They came out very flat, although that may be due to the altitude as I am in Wyoming. Great taste and with a little tweeking I know I will use this recipe again!! Thanks!
