Crab Quiche II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
I promise this is the best crab quiche recipe ever made. you can use 1/2 cup egg product instead of the 2 eggs. I used cream instead of milk for a richer flavor. After mixing everything together I added 3 T dried onion, 1 T flour, 1 t garlic powder, 1 t old bay, and 1 t hot sauce. My parents died over it. I made crab cakes the night before and they said they liked this so much better.

Ron's Bread Machine White

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
Cool recipe. The addition of the egg makes this recipe unique and extra awesome. I like my bread rich and buttery so I made a few changes. Instead of water i used warm milk. Instead of 1 egg I used 1/4 c egg product. instead of 1 T white sugar, I used 1/4 cup confectioners sugar. Instead of 2 T oil, I used 1/4 cup butter. Everything else I left basically the same: 3 cups flour, 1 1/2 t salt, 1 1/4 t yeast but then added an extra 1/4 t yeast. I let the yeast sit in the warm milk for about 5 minutes then mixed everything together in the bread maker! Pulled it out about 10 minutes early cuz I like my bread my chewy soft and underbaked. My family loved the flavor and texture of this bread. Ive made bread-maker-bread lots of times and my mom said this time was the best Ive ever made it.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
I used "Shorbread Crust" from this site and then followed this recipe as stated except for these following changes: I used 4 cups strawberries total. 1 cup uncooked on the base and 3 cups as part of the sauce mixture. I didnt have 1 cup granulated sugar so I used 2 cups powdered sugar instead (which maybe helped better solidify the sauce since powdered sugar is more thick and pasty when mixed w/ liquid.) Instead of 3/4 c water I used 3/4 c grape juce (I personality just like lots of flavor). And then just to note, 3 Tablespoons of cornstarch is perfect. This was so good Usually I make "Strawberry Glazed Pie" but didnt have jello so made this one instead and I'm glad I did. Both are super good though.

Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
This is really really good. I changed just a few things. I used 1/2 cup chopped onion instead of 1/4. I used seasoned italian sausage instead of just plain sausage. I never added the rice. Just cooked the rice seperate and used the sausage mixture as a topping for the rice. I springled the sausage mixture w/ garlic salt and flakes in addition to the salt and pepper and then baked in a 9x13 as stated then sprinkled it w/ a full bag of shredded cheddar cheese and only baked for about 30 min since everythings already cooked. Several people have said to leave out the processed cheese which I think is not a good idea. The processed cheese helps solidify the mixture and 8oz is such a small amount to even make a dent in taste, if anything just makes it a little cheesier thicker and better. Next time I might even add 4oz more of the prossed cheese. And then I might just take the whole sausage mixture and mix it w/ spaghetti sauce and serve it over noodles instead of rice. Anyway great idea for a recipe. Uses my 3 favorite vegetables and I love sausage so thats why I made this!

Beef Stew VI

I followed this recipe to the T and it was fantastic. My picky husband loved it and even my 7yrs old daughter kept asking for more. Very easy and delicious. The only change I made was that I cooked it in low in the crock pot for about 5 hours. I will make it over and over again.

Arroz con Leche

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
Skipped the whole 1st step and just used 3 or 31/2 cups pre-cooked rice. Then used 1/2c cup of milk instead of 1/2 cup of water for 2nd part and didnt have cinnamon stick so used 1 t cinnamon instead.completely omited anise and lemon. (never had to strain the mixture). never pulled out a second saucepan, just left the cinnamon milk mixure in sauce pan and after boiling 3 minutes, i added the evap milk and condensed milk and 1 teaspoon cornstarch and heated that till thick. once thick i added the vanilla and salt in addition to 2tbs butter (that just melted itslef into the hot mixure). wouldve been awesome w/ the raisins (just didnt have any) and can be sprinkled w/ sugar (if like it sweeter) and milk (if like it thinner). This was super good even though i changed it up a lot. my family kept fighting for seconds.

Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
These shouldnt be called Flautas. Flautas are made with flour tortillas. Taquitos are made with corn tortillas. I wanted Flautas so I used flour tortillas instead of corn and fried the flour tortillas in hot oil for 4 sec per side. Then followed recipe as writen except I added red enchilada sauce to each flauta(poured about 2 tbs sauce over chicken mixture on each flauta and then topped w/ cheese and then rolled them up and then baked). Recipe as writen is only a 3 star recipe. Recipe my way is 5 stars (absolutely delicious). sorry arlene):

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
This is so amazing! I didnt change anthing except I did 1 cup of butter and no applesauce. My family said it was the best quick bread I'd ever made. ********I made this again tonight. It was still amazing. I was thinking though, you could play around a lot w/ this recipe. you could add mini chocolate chips to make chocolate chip cinnamon bread or you could add choped apples to make apple cinnamon bread or you could glaze the top w/ icing to make like a cinnamon roll type bread. I also think this would make really good muffins.

Toll House Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Turned out kinda like blonde brownies w/ a crust. I baked this in an 8x8 square glass dish. Instead of a pie crust, I Did a shortbread crust ("Shortbread Crust") from this site. It'll seem like its not done after the entire 1hr of baking, but if really is, it just needs to sit and chill for a bit. Definitely tastes good w/ ice cream on the side. The conistency of this, in my opionion, works a little better w/ 1/8 cup added flour and 1/4 cup subtracted butter and no nuts.

Oh Yum! I made this for the base of chantal's cheesecake. Its so good! The only thing I changed was I did a heaping 1/2 cup confectioners sugar (more like 3/4 cup). You don't have to fo this but to me it just makes it all the more perfect. I just like everything a little more sweet!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
My family said this cheesecake was the best ever! It all got eaten in just one night. I only changed a few things. I cut the recipe in 1/2 baked it in a 8x8 square glass dish. I love shortbread crusts, so instead of a graham crust, I used a shortbread crust ("Shortbread Crust" from allrecipes.) I also added a little more sugar to the recipe. When you half this recipe, it calls for 3/4 cup of sugar. I did just slightly under a full cup (pretty much a level full cup). You dont have to do this, but I like my cheesecakes more sweet. And to me it was absolutely perfect this way!!!!!!! Loved every modification I made. Loved the way I did it! But this is definitely the best cheesecake recipe I have ever tried!
