Black Bean Tart

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This recipe makes a nice presentaion, it tastes good too. It does take quite a bit of time to prepare, from start to finish, so read through all the directions, and plan ahead. I don't have a tart pan, so I used a 9 in springform pan.

Lemon Snowballs

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
A pretty good cookie. The first batch, I didn't cook quite as long as the second batch. I thought the second batch was better. Make sure they have browned nicely on the bottoms before taking them out, they'll be a bit crisper that way.

Brown Rice Lentil Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
We thought this tasted okay, but not 5 star like I was hoping. There's no question that it's a salad you can feel good about eating. To make things easier, I put 1/2 cup each, uncooked rice and lentils in the rice cooker with 2 cups of water and the bouillon. They came out perfectly done, and the rest was easy to throw together.

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I doubled this recipe cuz it's sooo good! You have to make these changes though, it makes them amazing! Add about 4 cloves of garlic if you double it, 1 bunch of chopped green onion, and you MUST add about 3/4th of the chopped stems if you love a JUICY mushroom, if not this recipe tends to be too dry. Then top each one off with some mozzarella cheese! It makes ALOT of filling if you do it that way, so you may want to buy extra mushrooms. About 5 pre-packaged medium-large mushrooms does the trick. I also did not broil them, I just preheated the oven to 350 and it took around 10 minutes, I put the cookie sheet of them on the middle tray or even 2nd to bottoms so the bottoms are cooked well, once you see some juices run and the bottoms are soft their ready to eat!

Spanish Rice Dinner

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
Once I added all the ingredients, I was skeptical that the rice would get cooked, as there was hardly any liquid. But, I followed the directions. Turned out just right. If you make sure the heat is turned very low and make sure to cover tightly, the rice will cook without added water. It is also probably more flavorful without adding water. My husband really liked this. Very easy to make with things I always keep on hand. I did add fresh onion and garlic, however.

I thought this was really good, and of course, so easy. I used fresh vegies becuase that's what I had on hand, other than that, didn't change a thing.

Orange Walnut Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This is good, although I would marinate for at least 8 hours instead of 2 or 3. I grilled my chicken instead of cooking it in a skillet. I toasted the nuts (I used pecans instead of walnuts) and made the sauce in the morning and just re-heated it while the chicken was grilling. Overall, pretty tasty and easy recipe.

Rice Cereal Energy Bars

These are really good. I used walnuts, ground up instead of sunflower seeds because I didn't have any. I used 3/4 c honey and 1/4 c corn syrup and 1 c brown sugar. They were quite sweet. I will try different mixtures of frit and nuts next time. I will also only use honey and brown sugar. Thanks for the GREAT recipe!

Waffle Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I've been making these cookies for years. I've never added nuts to mine. I also add more cocoa, probably close to 3/4 cup. I use a large family size waffle iron (not belgian) and drop one tablespoon full onto each section to cook. I always make a chocolate glaze, sometimes with mint, and after the cookies have cooled, I dip the tops in the glaze.

Aunt Jewel's Chicken Dressing Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
Something was missing, Kinda just average tasting, kinda bland I dunno what it was something was just missing. Also for time this took, and cost of ingredients, definitely not worth it! I have gotten comments every night on recipes I've made here, this is the first one where they ate it but no great comments, said it was ok to be nice... Chicken mixed with homemade stuffing with gravy poured on top tastes alot better then this. Will not make again.

Chicken in Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
This is really good! I grilled the chicken in season all season salt, pepper, and garlic salt, those flavors really mixed well into the sauce. Also I cooked it in a tablespoon fat free butter spray, instead of the Vegetable oil, cut down alot on the fat. Saving fat from that I added some cheese on top of the chicken and sauce then covered for it to cook, or be super healthy and leave it off, it's still low fat with the cheese and super delicious!

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This is a really good gravy, fast and easy, and I had all the ingredients for it already. I did the recipe exactly how it was written, It was the perfect thickness, so I wouldn't recommend the cornstarch and extra flour like some reviewers did. Next time I think i'll put in half of the poultry seasoning it calls for it was a little overpowering. I also cut this in half which is 14 servings, but in reality halving this recipe perfectly served enough gravy for four of us.

Slow Cooker Marmalade Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This is pretty good, a little to orange peely for me though, I didn't get to try the can of coconut milk because I forgot to get it at the store, maybe that takes it away and evens out the flavors cuz the orange over peels over power it, i'll make again though cuz my sister and dad loved it. I probably will try halving the marmelade though

I think 3 minutes on each side is way too long, unless the heat should really be between medium and low. I didn't put in currants because I have no idea where to find them, but I thought they still tasted alright.

PHILADELPHIA Smarter Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This was aewsome!!! Sauce was amazing! People are forgetting this is virtually a fat free alfredo sauce! I did fat free cream cheese spread instead and it was to die for still! I didn't mix the sauce with the noodles, I cooked noodles, put them over a plate, then put the chicken slices on the noodles pouring sauce over it. I also used entire box of fettucini and just 1 and a halfed the sauce recipe and it perfectly fed 4 people.
