Turkey in a Bag

This is the best and only way I'll do a turkey in the oven. Saves time in roasting and clean-up and the taste, texture, moisture can't be beat!

Very good! Per some other suggestions, I doubled the cinnamon and ginger! They were a hit with my kids...they almost tasted like pumpkin bread!

I really wanted to like this, but the texture was less than desirable (pasty) and it wasn't sweet at all. My husband and kids didn't like it either.

Yum, yum! I made this on the grill in my iron skillet and I must say they are delicious. I'll be making them again when I have a real kitchen back in place. Thanks to Patty Cakes for suggesting and thanks to SGRCOOKI for the recipe!

Just a comment - this is not the recipe I have that claims to be from Neiman Marcus...mine has pulverized rolled oats and no coffee in it.

Sweet Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This is a very adaptable recipe, I just wish the ratios of flour and sugar were corrected. I used 2 T of honey instead of 4 T white sugar since I was looking to make a wholesome sandwich bread without any sweetness. I also ended up using 4 1/2 to 5c. whole wheat flour (Golden Buffalo flour to e exact - you can find it in the bulk section of many natural foods stores/co-ops). I used vegetable oil rather than margarine, and added 1/4c+2T ground flax meal for added nutrition. Rather than rolls, I made loaves of bread. One recipe (using the 4 1/2 c. flour) makes 2 standard sandwich loaves. You don't need to let the loaves rise as much as you would think because the eggs make it puff in the oven. I live at 4000 feet elevation, and baked the loaves at 375F for 25 minutes. The flavor is subtle, light, slightly-earthy, and DELICIOUS. It toasts really well too! I will definitely be making this again, but with whatever sweet-orange vegetable is in season: pumpkin, butternut squash, carrots, maybe even sweet corn...

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Delicious!! I had to cook it in my electric skillet as our kitchen is torn out, but it was very, very good. I did add about two teaspoons of flour to the cracker crumbs since I was frying it and thought that might help hold the crumbs together when I turned it - and it did! Will use the remaining two breasts tonight w/ spaghetti sauce and cheese for chicken parm!

Jalepeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2009
The flavor was pretty good, but I thought the garlic salt on top of the garlic was a little overkill. I would cut the garlic salt next time. But the thing that ruined it for me was that after it sat for a few minutes, the liquid grease pooled on top of the cheese...a lot of it. Even after I tried pouring it off it was still there, and every time I took a bite it was greasy. I don't know if substituting cream cheese for mayo would help, or using a non-fat mayo, but I wouldn't make the recipe as is again.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
I have made french toast for years but it was never as good as this. I omitted the salt & upped the eggs to 4 and milk to 3/4 cup to make 11-12 slices. 5 year old twins & 2 year old gobbled it up, even my husband raved about how good this was.

Five stars for taste but one star for "quick" equals 3 overall. Any recipe with slicing and dicing and this many ingredients shouldn't be described as "quick."

We made this for dinner last night and it was excellent. It's a little more labor-intensive that what we usually cook, but well worth the effort. We'd give 10 stars of we could! Don't change a thing!

Excellent as written - I think I'll use 1/2 cup each white sugar and flour next time and toss the peach slices w/ the almond extract for a better mix.
