Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2006
This was an easy recipe to make. I did add extra garlic, but the garlic taste was not very strong. We still used sauce to eat it with (bbq sauce and ranch) but it would have been good without it. I think this is a good base recipe for other recipes. I would use this for chicken parmesan like others have done.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
I probably shouldn't rate this recipe because I made so many changes, but it is a great base recipe to tweak to your own liking. The end result was the best chili I have ever made!! I used 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb sausage to give a little more depth to the flavor. I also followed the advice of others and substituted the tomato juice with tomato sauce and the tomato sauce with diced tomatoes. I didn't realize that I was almost out of chili powder until I had already started the chili, so I only used about 1 T and added hot sauce (tobasco) in place of the rest of the chili powder. I used one can of chili beans (with liquid) and one can kidney beans (rinsed). I followed the rest of the seasonings. It only took about 15 minutes to put together, then I let it simmer for about 2 hours. Served with sour cream, cheese, fresh chopped tomatoes and corn chips. I will make this recipe over and over again. I have never received so many compliments - on anything I have ever made!!

Spiced Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
I'd have to say that this wasn't my favorite. It mostly tasted like pork chops with ketchup. We ate it, and it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't make it again. The pork chops were cooked perfectly, though. Nice and tender.

Dried Cherries and Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
So so good. Got nothing but compliments on this pie. After ten or fifteen minutes I lowered the temp to 325 and I cooked it a little longer. Works well even without cherries. A definite Thanksgiving favorite at our house!

Sour Cream Chive Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
Great bread machine recipe! I used fresh chives, and wished I would have used a lot more because the chive taste was not very strong at all. That is the only thing I would have changed.

Sour Cream Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
Excellent pie! One of my favorite apple pie recipes. I don't chop the apples, but slice them like a traditional apple pie. I also like to double the crumb topping. My two cents on the crumb topping - I like it to be crumbly, so I do not add any extra butter. When you are combining the ingredients, use a pastry cutter and cut into it until it has turned to fine crumbs. This is more of a crumb topping to me than adding extra butter and leaving it in bigger chunks. Just my opinion, though!

Coconut Cream Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I must have done something wrong with this because when we cut into it, it went everywhere. I am figuring it was something I did - not the recipe. But the pie still tasted fantastic. I used the never fail meringue from this site which was amazing. I want to try this recipe again to see if I can fix what I did wrong last time!

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I felt really badly, because I took this to Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws, and no one could stop talking about it!! It stole the attention! I would give this 10 stars if I could. Don't skip out on making the dressing...it's worth the extra 5 minutes it takes to make it. The bottled dressing is not the same. I did cut back on the sugar a tad in the dressing, and I used fresh lemons. But I followed everything else as written. I will be making this salad over and over again!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
This was very easy, but a little bland. I had to add a lot of salt a pepper, but it was super fast and easy. Also a great way to use up any extra noodles you have in your pantry. I didn't have any egg noodles, but used a mixture of bowtie and fettucine noodles, and they worked wonderfully.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
These were ok, but not WOW enchiladas. I love enchiladas, and have tried many recipes, and I would never make these again. I left out the water, but the filling was still quite runny. It needs some more kick - didn't really taste like Mexican food.

Oatmeal Banana Raisin Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
These taste really good, but they are quite crumbly. I didn't have any margarine, so I used 1 1/4 c butter and 1/2 c crisco. I cooked them for 11 minutes (my oven cooks a little hot)and they came out good, but falling apart. I actually think this recipe would make great oatmeal cookies - just taking out the banana. But a great alternative to use up bananas besides banana bread!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
Excellent. I didn't use as much hot sauce because my husband doesn't like it really hot, but this was really tasty. I wish I would have read the reviews before I made it and tried the bleu cheese dressing instead of the ranch, but I will do that next time. I wouldn't change a thing besides that!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls II

Very simple and yummy. Very sweet, but I wouldn't expect anything else!! I made a frosting to go on top, which added to the sweetness. Not really like cinnamon rolls to me, but they were still tasty!

Cheesy Potato Soup II

This was really good and perfect for a cold night. I used velveeta instead of the cheese slices, and used all chicken stock instead of the water. I also doubled the cheese because my husband and I both like it cheesy! Really easy and I had all of the ingredients on hand.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
So easy and super tasty. It couldn't be any easier. I think the bbq sauce you use could be the big determining factor for this recipe, so make sure to use one that you already know that you like. I put my pork ribs in the slow cooker for about 7 hours on low and it was extremely easy to pull them apart. Served on buns, and was the best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever made at home.

Yummy! This is total comfort food for me. Although it did take some time to make, the end result is fantastic. I followed the recipe exactly, except for doubling the cornstarch/water mixture to make it a bit thicker. I wouldn't change anything else!!!
