Foolproof Rib Roast

Made this for our Christmas dinner and it came out perfect. The meat came out tender, with good flavor and the right color. Will make again for sure!

Cream of Mushroom and Soy Sauce Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I made these when my husband came back from a deployment and we both thought they were incredible. They are very easy to make and literally fall apart when you start to eat them. The sugar and saltiness of the soy sauce make a nice mix. I didn't cook mine in a slow cooker, I just browned the chops and then threw it all in a baking dish and baked them for as long as I could stand. Excellent with rice!

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This was great. I scaled the recipe down because it was just for two people but it still made enough for us to use twice. I also changed the oil to butter. I just figured it would have a nicer flavor. Some reviewers suggested that you should use bacon or sausage grease and I agree...if you are using it for a breakfast or biscuit topping. We had ours with country fried steak and honestly I don't think the grease would have made any difference to how good it tasted with the steak. Either way, this is a good gravy, it passed my husband and he is horribly finicky so it HAS to be good.

Dried Beef Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I have been making this for our Christmas Eve Party for about ten years and it is always a massive hit. I cannot believe someone rated this as awful! I can only say that they must have really screwed it up, which seems impossible. This recipe, or one very close to it since we always add a little garlic powder, was so popular with my sister in Britain that we have to mail her care packages of dried beef so she can make it back home.

Chicken Manicotti Alfredo

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
This was good but I had some small problems with the end result. The filling wound up being a little too dry for my taste, I think next time I will omit the egg and see what happens. My hubby thought it was too rich and too cheesy but he is very picky anyway. It was good and went a long way but I don't know if it was worth all the time it took to prepare.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
This was one of the best soups I have ever made. My notoriously picky husband thought it was awesome. The only change I made was to use chicken broth and the juices from when I baked the ham previously instead of water and bouillion. It has a great creamy, smooth texture and a delicious flavor. Really fantastic.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
This was so easy to make and it turned out wonderfully. My husband literally stood around in the kitchen waiting for it to be done. He gave me a five star rating so I had to pass it on. Best Banana Bread I have ever had.

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
This was pretty good. I do agree with another reviewer that the addition of oyster sauce would add some more depth to the sauce. I also found that the noodles (I used spaghetti) will soak up that sauce as it sits and cools. The leftovers were less soupy and bore more of a resemblance to restaurant style than the freshly made dish. I did have to make a couple of adjustments. I used ground ginger, switched the noodle type and I used shrimp since I had some I wanted to get rid of. All in all this is a nice recipe, it is adaptable which is always nice and my very picky husband ate it without complaint...after I picked out the mushrooms from his serving.

Easy Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I was looking for interesting new things to do with my existing recipe when I found this one. I would honestly have never thought to use string cheese. Thank you so much for sharing this, it makes the wrapping process so much easier and the cheese stays inside instead of melting out into the pan. Great addition! Thanks!

Swiss 'n' Bacon Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This was really good but be forewarned: it is really rich. Both my husband and I could only eat one slice a piece. I did adjust the recipe a little, but only to make a larger pizza, essentially I doubled most of the ingredients. I will definitely make this again but probably stick to what the recipe states and make half as much as I made this time.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

This recipe was SO good. Be really careful when choosing salsa because the heat on the one I chose was a bit much for my kids, but overall WE LOVED this one. I will for sure be making this again.

Skillet Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
I really loved this recipe! I cooked with 1 can of chicken broth instead of water and I cooked the ham with the onions and cabbage the entire time so it could release its juices. My daughter loved it and so did my parents.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This is an excellent recipe. I made it in a pinch after someone requested it at a Christmas Eve dinner. I didn't have everything I needed so I improvised. I had to use fat free milk instead of half and half so I added mayo to the mixture to give it some richness. I left out the egg because of this and I had to use the cheeses I had in the fridge instead of the ones listed. It was the best I have ever made and there was none leftover.

Charleston Breakfast Casserole

This was great! I made it this morning, Christmas! Everyone loved it. I used bacon instead of ham and also grated some onion, which gave it a great flaver without my husband knowing onion was in it! Will make this again! Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Ham and Cheese Appetizer Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Loved It!! I made this for my nephew to take to work for a potluck. He said it was the favorite of the day! I used Hawaiian King rolls and cut the poppy seeds to 1 Tbl. I used about 8 oz of swiss cheese because I wanted cheese on the bottom and top of the ham. I spread a thin layer of the butter mixture on top of the rolls and still had some leftover. I had to email a copy of the recipe because everyone liked it so! Great recipe...I will make this again!

Cheesy Sausage Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
This was very good! I made it to have on Christmas Eve. I decided to use low calorie ingredients to make it healthier. I halved the recipe and used only the 1 lb of turkey sausage, low calorie cream of mushroom soup and velveeta 2%. I omitted the flour and added some cayenne pepper and cumin to spice it up a bit. My family really liked it and I will make this again! Thanks for the recipe!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
I made these for my boyfriend and didn't get a good review. I don't like sweet stuff so I only nibbled one and it seemed fine to me but he only ate one and then hid the rest in the back of the fridge (I think he was afraid to tell me he didn't like them.) He is a fussy eater though so perhaps it is much more his issue than the recipe.

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
I was really happy with what I wound up with. I was looking for something warm and cozy and as close to our local Chinese Restaurant as possible. This was a good pick. I made one adjustment, adding more cornstarch because I like a thicker consistency but otherwise stuck to the recipe. Next time I am going to add some sweetcorn, like the local restaurant does just to see what I end up with. Thanks for a yummy recipe!

Chicken Tortilla Soup IV

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This was really good, but I did make a few adjustments, which is why I rated it a 4 star instead of 5. I sauted onion and bell pepper then added rest of ingredients. Also, I didn't have any salsa so I added a can of rotel. I sometimes add an additional can of petit diced tomatoes. I usually double the spices to 1 tsp. I do not fry the corn tortillas...we just use baked tortilla chips and top w/low-fat cheese and sometimes a dollop of light sour cream. My family loves it.
