A very fun and tasty recipe for Haloween. I made it with Rachel Ray's Harvest Moon Pasta and it was delish!

One-Pot Pasta with Tomatoes, White Beans and Pesto

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
I used this as a great base recipe. First, since others thought this was too salty, I halved the bullion (1 cube instead of 2). I also used penne because I didn't have bowtie. Then, I added some sauteed onion, garlic, mushroom, and spinach. This made for an awesome presentation and was so yummy with the extra toppings!

Indian Dahl with Spinach

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly, except I can't have chili powder so I omitted that. I actually felt the spice level and salt to be good as written. It is missing a zip. I am not sure what I did wrong. I used the coconut milk you purchase in the refrigerator section, so I don't know if it would have turned out better with the canned coconut milk. The yogurt idea is fabulous but I also can't have dairy (I am a walking food disaster-- hard to find recipes!) It is not bad, just missing a zip in my opinion. Maybe I'll try adding some fresh squeezed lemon before serving?

Thank you! Have been looking for this kind of recipe. Worked well folded out into dinner rolls, I oiled the tops, covered with cloth, let set overnight, baked in early morning. My loaves were great, had to give some away!!!

Jewish Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
This was fabulous! I did modify it based on the ingredients I had and it still turned out great. I only had reduced fat sour cream (probably a good thing since it calls for so much butter). I took the advice of others and used brown sugar for the filling. I also didn't have walnuts and only a handful of almonds on hand. I chopped up the almonds in the food processor and added about 1/2 cup of oatmeal to the mixture just for a little texture since I was low on nuts. My husband ate the whole thing is a couple days and asked when I was making it again! Can't wait to try it with walnuts!

Roast Pork Loin Chop

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
Everyone seemed to be saying these were moist but bland, so I marinated mine in a tequila lime marinade all day. I would say mine turned out flavorful but dry. What did I do wrong! I followed the instructions exactly and they are almost inedible they are so dry. The only difference is that I marinated my chops. I'll try something different next time-- maybe a crock pot chop recipe.

Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
I gave this 5 stars because I am not a big fan of Drop Biscuits, but these were excellent. Maybe it was the combination of the Gravy and the Recipe that made everything work to perfection. I made one change with the sausage. I cut the required amount in half and used bacon for the other half. My kids wolfed it down and were beggin for more.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
This was an excellent recipe! I would have given it 5 stars except I made the alterations suggested by others, mainly substituting my favorite barbecue sauce instead of ketchup. I also added some crushed garlic to the pot that isn't called for in the recipe. Lastly, I also made my own Chili sauce rather than using canned sauce, and it made a big difference. Great recipe, it should be made often!

Spicy Sausage and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Needs more liquid for the rice, and more sausage. Also, try to put the rice on the bottom as opposed to scattered throughout. We had some rice that was on top that didn't get enough liquid and was quite crunchy! Great flavor though.

Happy Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Made a couple of changes to this recipe by adding some mushrooms and heavy cream to the sauce. My family thought that it didn't have a lot of flavor and didn't really care for it. I thought it was pretty good, but needed some additional spices after it got to the plate to help give it some more flavor.

Penne with Pancetta and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
Made this for my family last night and it was met with ho hum's. They complained that the sauce wasn't flavorful enough and that there wasn't enough of it. I substituted regular bacon for the Pancetta and Angel Hair for the Penne. I also doubled the amount of liquid that the recipe called for and it still wasn't enough. If I were to make this again, I would probably add some white wine, butter and some salt to the sauce to give it a bit more pep.

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This was a good recipe. I followed the recipe as outlined only I used boneless pork loin instead of what the recipe called for. The flavor and aroma were wonderful. I cooked it for 8 hours, but amazingly my meat came out a little dry. My family loved it except for the dryness of the meat. I made the gravy as others have suggested and it was great. Will try again, only will try and use meat that has a bone to try and prevent the meat from being dry.

Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

Really good. I love the richness that the cream cheese adds and all that butter, what more could you ask for? I took half to work and ended up passing out the recipe to everyone. I made a second cake and substituted cocoa powder for the cinnamon (I like CHOCOLATE!!!). It was even better.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Made this recipe exactly as outlined and the entire family was licking their plates clean! The only suggestion would be as others have said, pre-cook the bacon and crumble it on top, rather than wrapping it. I enjoyed it wrapped, but a couple of the family said they would have preferred it the other way. Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
My family enjoyed this very much. Like some of the reviewers I cooked 1 inch chops for approx. 8 hours. I was surprised that mine came out somewhat dry. I added a 1/4 cup of white wine to the liquid as others suggested, and I would recommend doing that. Not sure what to do to prevent the meat from being dry? Good recipe, will make it again.

Skillet Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
Too much vinegar! My husband hated the flavor. I thought it was ok. And my 3yr old daughter who loves chicken no matter what you do to it loved it! she ate most of it! She thought it was chicken with runny funny ketchup! And she loves ketchup! so one star is straight from my daughter! Maybe my husband and I just have too high of flavor palats!
