Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I read a lot of mixed reviews for this recipe, but decided to take the plunge and try it for myself, and I am glad that I did! These were soooo yummy! I doubled the sauce to have gravy for our mashed potatos, and added mushrooms to the pan while the patties were simmering. They turned out so juicy and moist, the sauce was delicious! Maybe a little bit on the salty side, but hey, it's condensed soup. We had some unexpected dinner guests over and everyone raved about this dish! Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Scrumptious Frosted Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
TEN STARS!! BEST brownie's I have EVER had, let alone made! I had to share them with my family for fear of making myself sick from a chocolate overdose. I seriously could have ate the whole pan. Thanks Celeste! My search for the perfect brownie is OVER!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
These lemon bars were okay. Nothing too spectacular. I followed the recipe exact. I had a huge issue with my crust sticking, I did use butter to grease the pan so maybe that was my problem? Also didn't feel like they were "lemony" enough. I used 4 fresh lemons which gave me just over 1/4 cup, plus the zest from one of the lemons. I will probably try to make these again, but will increase the lemon juice, and add an extra egg yolk.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
At first I did not think I had done this correctly, but the end result was fantastic! I had to add 2 TBLS. milk to get a good consistency, I don't know if that had to do with our high elevation or not.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I made this for a co-worker for his birthday. Many people in the office said that it was the best pumpkin cheesecake they had ever had. I agree.I also used a homemade graham cracker crust and added a pinch of cinnamon-amazing!

Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I've been meaning to make a peanut butter pie for just about forever and finally made this one tonight...it was very good!!! I used a chocolate crust, added a bit more peanut butter and did not use the additional cool whip for the top...will definitely make this again :)

Cranberry-Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Loved these, I didn't have any fresh cranberries but will definately give them a try with those another time, just used crasins a generous cup, so yummy, my little girls liked them too! The hubby not so much, he likes his with chocolate chips :) update: tried these again with fresh cranberries even better than the first time, however I think I will chop the cranberries next time, the big halves were pretty tart. So yummy, my new fall favorite!

Baked French Toast

Good, a little soggy on bottom - probably could turn it and make it better. Great for guest, I would have as a side dish not as the main just because it is as sweet as cinnamon rolls.

This was a nice recipe. My 14 year old was able to make it himself for his school party. We did use canned frosting but it was just fine and the kids didn't care.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
I made the cake mix cookies first and thought they were good, but then I made this recipe and it was even better. I made the first batch plain, the second with choc. chips, and the third with choc chips and walnuts. I personally liked the ones with the nuts. Save your money, dont buy the box and make this recipe!

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
I had some left over pasta that I wanted to use up, but wanted to add a meat to make it a meal. I found this recipe and upped the spice and then poured the marinade and shrimp into a skillet to cook. Poured the sauce and shrimp over the pasta. My boyfriend thought it was great!

Unstuffed Cabbage Dinner

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
I really liked this!!! I made a few minor changes...I used turkey instead of beef, omitted the pepper because I hate it, used beef boullion cubes and water instead of broth, and omitted the chopped onion because I was being lazy and I figured the onion soup mix would be sufficient...and it was. This was a hearty, tasty, and very easy meal!! Will make again :)

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
This chowder definitely lives up to it's name! It is not too milky, or too clammy, it's just right! Very hearty and easy soup to make. I used chicken broth in place of water to cover my potatoes, may try using extra clam juice next time. I also added in an onion with the potato and carrot, just because I had one and I felt like it should be in there . I did only use one package of the leek soup mix merely because I am a dork and only grabbed one at the store. I think one did the soup just fine though : ) Served it up in some sourdough breadbowls (wish I could have made those too!) and it was to die for! My man couldn't stop saying how good it was, best we've ever had. Thanks for the awesome recipe Cindy!

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I followed the recipe as stated and my muffins fell flat. I added 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 granulated sugar as reviewers suggested. The flavor of these were good, but they were not as pretty as Jordan Marshes muffins for me. But I love blueberry muffins so these were not wasted, just not the recipe for me.

Byrdhouse Mushroom Barley Pilaf

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
GREAT recipe! I used half chicken half beef broth, baby bella shrooms, and omitted parsley simply because I had none. I also do not own a dutch oven, so I made it all on the stovetop. It took a little over an hour on medium-low heat for all the liquid to absorb for me. What an AMAZING depth of flavor! This dish left me feeling very full and satisfied, we will definitely be making this one again! Thanks for the awesome recipe Sunnybyrd! Who knew barley could be so good without soup!

Made the recipe as instructed but increased wocestershire sauce to 1 TABLEspoon and omitted the celery. Was super good! Next time I think I'll leave out the onion and add dry onion soup mix instead.

French Bread

Very good! I added a little olive oil as recommended and I skipped the glaze. I made a quick garlic spread out of pre-minced garlic and Country Crock and I used this for garlic toast on one loaf. Very good! Thanks for sharing, Janet!
