Maple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
I loved this bread, made it with Mrs Butterworths syrup but I do think it would be better with real Maple Syrup. I will up the syrup next time if I don't have the real stuff again. But was wonderful, looks great and taste great.

Jalapeno Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
this recipe was awesome! so far i've made the following alterations, i omitted the italian dressing since we don't care for it as a marinade and left the chicken as is, i pounded it to 1/4" thickness. i took whole fresh jalapenos and cut the tops off and de-seeded them, heated them in a skillet for about 5 minutes, filled them with mexican taco cheese instead of cream cheese since we can't get past anything with cream cheese in it besides bagels and cheesecake lol. i took the remainder of the shredded cheese and sprinkled it on the chicken put the jalapeno inside and rolled it up and put thick cut (all i had) peppered bacon around it and pinned it closed with toothpicks. i pan seared it until the bacon was almost all the way cooked and then baked in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. pan searing it first made the bacon crispy and just right, plus it stayed on the chicken after i took the toothpicks out! putting in the oven for the remainder made the chicken perfectly moist and juicy. yes, as some other reviewers said the jalapeno is crunchy even after baking, put i think the contrast in texture is part of what makes it really great! i will certainly make this again, even my normally picky partner who hates spicy food called this "gourment cooking" served with fresh green beans pan fried with garlic, red onions, bacon and olive oil.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
this was really really good. i think what might make it a bit more fancy is if it had artichoke hearts and maybe some roma tomoatoes on top.... mmmm. seasoned chicken with mrs. dash garlic and herb, sauteed it in olive oil. i only used one pack of spinach, (accidentally used the other one) and it wasnt enough for us. we love spinach. overall, delicious.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
i didnt find my chicken to be salty at all, but made sure to always add pepper. heres what i did: i cooked my own bacon which i added some peppercorns to, 2 cloves minced garlic in some evoo. while that was cooking, i cut slits in the chicken and added a teriyaki marinade for about 15 minutes. i then cooked the chicken in the bacon grease until done on both sides and place in my baking dish. i added some fresh ground pepper on top, and then just drizzled the chicken with ranch. i didnt follow any of the marinade measurements. i added the cheese and bacon the last 10 minutes and fresh parsley on top when it came out of the oven. i served with broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes and hawaiian sweet rolls. im not sure i would make this dish for children, i dont think they would like the tanginess of the flavors mixed.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
i dont usually rate so low, but i had to change alot of this recipe to make it tast good! one night i made the vegitarian version, the next night i just added a shredded chicken breast that i boiled in some s&p, cumin, season salt, fresh garlic and onion. heres what i did differently: i doubled the recipe! 1/2 t. cumin and 1/2 t. chili powder, a can of diced green chiles, 2/3 c. frozen corn kernels, 8 oz. cream cheese, a can of Rotel diced tomatos and green chiles and upped the garlic to 3 t. i also used yellow and red bell peppers and mixed in some lipton spanish rice that i cooked on the stove. with these changes it was delicious!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
we marinated overnight. i added some onion powder since i didnt use onions, fresh parsley, and 1 tblsp of pinnaple juice to the marinade. i also used red bell peppers, zuchinni and pinnaples (the canned kind). it was very yummy, we served over white rice for a nice healthy meal. :D

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
i made this last night with all of the ingridients. the only thing i did was rup a little evoo on my steak before cutting into pieces and rubbed s&p on them. i also cooked the garlic right in with the steak as soon as it hit the pan. everything else to a tee! while not completley authentic, pretty good for us!

Shrimp Fried Rice II

we had this about two nights ago. while it was good, it was DEFINATELEY not something that you would order at your local chinese resturant, nor does it taste like it. but it was good, just not authentic. would make again with minor altercations.

Chicken Chimichangas

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
i forgot to look at recipe while cooking, lol, but i satueed chicken in oil with greenpeppers and onions, seasoned it with cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper. add zatarans jumbalaya rice mix, water on back of package, black beans rinsed and drained, mccormick enchilada sauce seasoning packet, 1 1/2 cups of water, and a can of enchilada sauce. i rolled them up with refried bean/cheesy tortillas, drizzled evoo and loaded them with cheese on top. cooked for 15 min on 350, served with homade quac, pace salsa, and sour cream. they had just enough of a kick but not to much to ruin the taste, and thats a compliment from me since i hate spicy foods. thanks for the orignal recipe though, i just like mine better. i'll try yours one day ;)

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
this was good, but not extravagant per other reviews. my steak was a little dry, and i was expecting juicy. i even basted the steak with the garlic butter while it was cooking and poured it over the top. good recipe my steak was just a little tough.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
i baked my potatoes in the oven and when they were done, they werent cooked in the middle. so i ended up microwaving them with a damp papertowel on top, and instead made "baked mashed potatoes". still good, but cooking time was off. a little disappointed in that, but is a good recipe overall.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

i loveddd these!!!! hubby didnt care for them, but we both have never tried brussel sprouts, so thats understandable. followed recipe until ten minutes before they were done, thought they were a littl plain so i sprinkled some garlic powder on them, and that was the icing on the cake!! used frozen sprouts, and heated in microwave for 2-3 minutes (microwave times vary)

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

this was scrumptious!! i added a 1/2 cup of water to die down the wine taste, and added celery salt and onion powder/minced onions instead of using fresh. made diamond cuts and stuffed those with fresh minced garlic, drizzled with evoo and topped with rosemary. all of my dinner party guests raved "very flavorfull and rich" it was a huge hit!

Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
my dinner guest and family really enjoyed this dish. i used arborio rice per other reviews. i forgot to get whipping cream or half and half (whatev you use, personal pref) and i was using skim milk, so i added another 1/2 cup. I didnt have celery on hand so i used celery salt instead, 2 cans of chicken broth, and a tbls or so of more milk by accident. :D but all in all, tasty for sure. just a fancy rice with mushroom. i recommend making big slices of mushroom incase you have picky eaters, so its easy to pick out.

Ratatouille

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
i made this for dinner last night, and while it was good, it was just okay. with these provisions, i am sure to make it magnificant. i satuaeed (s?) the eggplant in evoo and garlic, then added that as well as the rest of the veggies. i mixed all of them together and used sargento mozz with sundried tom and basil, mozz cheese, and parm to top it off. i also added what i thought was quite a bit [but obviously not enough] seasoning from my italian seasoning grinder and fresh garlic in with the veggies. added a few splashes of white wine and drizzled with evoo. i didnt get the sauce consistency that everyone else did, and was hoping to since i served this over spinach and tom pasta. next time, i will use sundried tom for more flavor, garlic salt, fresh basil, rosemary, and a can of tomatoe sauce italian seasoned. then i think it will be perfect and more for our tastes. good starter recipe, very versatile.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
hubby and i had this last night, and it was o-so-delectable. good way to get me to eat refried beans, seeing as i hate them, but unnoticable in this!! :D hubby said would have like it to have crunched tortilla chips instead, so next time i will make half and half. simmered all the spices for 30 min (really lets it all blend) and forgot salsa/taco sauce, but had some mild sauce taco packets on hand, lol, so used about 15. :D i also added mexican rice already cooked, so my layers were as follows: meat, rice, cheese, beans on tortillas, xtra tortillas, ect... MUCH better with rice!!! :D a new fam fav!

Allie's Mushroom Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
this was awesome!!! i loved the oil based sauce, however my husband preferred sauce, so i just made some marina for him to dip it in, and all was forgiven. now for the recipe, this is what i did different, however the actual recipe is wonderful by itself. i prebaked my own crust with garlic and mozz cheese, and placed in fridge night before. next night, preheated the oven, used thawed frozen spinach, mozz/montarey jack cheese. then put shredded chicken sauteed with garlic and onions on top. we werent crazy about the mushrooms, so only put it on a small corner just to taste it. added some fresh minced garlic and sprinkled on top of everything else and a dash of oregano and mmmmmmmmmmmmm. it was so yummy and awesome the next day to!!! :D its the first pizza without the fatty taste, and its so good!! not to mention a great source of protien with the chicken! :D
