Acorn Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This was sooo good! I was apprehensive of the dill and curry combination, but it turned out fantastic! The ceyenne pepper added a necessary extra dimension to the soup, giving it a nice subtle heat. Very very good! I peeled, seeded and chopped a butternut squash (instead of the acorn squash) and added the uncooked pieces in with the chix stock and simmered it for 18 mins before blending it with an immersion blender. Turned out fabulous. I really appreciated the thicker cream texture too. Thanks for a great recipe!

Molasses Sugar Cookies II

I would give these cookies a million stars if I could! Followed the recipe exactly except I I got impatient and only chilled the dough for an hour or two. Came out perfect - moist, chewy, and spicy.

Hot Spiced Cranberry Cider

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Making it in the crockpot is a no-brainer! Thanks to whomever suggested that in the comments. It smells great in the house. People really liked this. I used cider from the store shelf, and 100% cranberry juice from the frozen can. I think you would want it in on high for 2 hours at least prior to the first cup you want to drink. It allows the spices to bloom a little. Delicious! Thanks!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Ohmygoodness!!! This bread is delish. Served it at a friend's BBQ, told them I made it and my friend's husband looked over at me with his mouth full of this bread and said, "YOU MADE THIS"?? (Guess his wife doesn't cook that much). Unbelievable recipe, get raving reviews every time I serve or give away. *Hint: Added 3/4 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Can anyone tell me the secret to keep them from sinking to the bottom??? lol.

Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
I tried coating the chicken in flour per suggestions from here and it still turned out really soupy-like. I had to pop them in the broiler for about 10 minutes and they ended being OK. I would rather have baked them instead of done the slow-cooker, but that is just because of preference on tenderness of the wings. Great, easy recipe though, but would have tasted better with just an oven!

Loved this! I did it on pork kebobs and I let it go overnight. I thought the flavor was great. It grills just beautifully. Can't wait to actually try it on chicken. Served with AR "Orzo and Tomato Salad with Feta Cheese." Yum!

Loved it. I think it's best to make pasta salads a day ahead. This one held up fine in the fridge overnight. Love the dill and parsley. I thought it was really great. Served with Garlic Lemon grilled skewers.

Chicken Fried Chicken

This recipe is great and super easy! The saltines were an interesting yet delicious way of making it so tasty. Ate alongside some garlic mashed potatoes & a green salad. Perfect meal! Definitely will keep this one in mind for future crowd pleasers. One thing I might add next time: a little parmesan to the mix.

Key Lime Pie VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
This was awesome. It's creamy and tangy and sweet with tons of lime flavor. I love lime! I ended up using about 12 small limes to get all the juice. It made more than enough filling for the shell, so maybe next time I can get a bigger shell. The leftovers were awesome as a dip with graham crackers though!

Carne Asada Tacos

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
This was relly great. The tomatillo sauce was much better than expected. I added cilantro to it and skipped the step of cooking it down with beef broth-it tasted lovely and fresh to me; also I was in a hurry. I used skirt steak, and we grilled it. It was annoying to cut up but I used kitchen shears. It took longer than expected. Thanks for a lovely recipe.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
This was the best Lemon Meringue Pie I have made yet. I followed the instructions exactly and doubled it for 2 pies. It was a perfect balance of sweet and tart, and firmed up beautifully. I tried it that evening while it was still room temperature and in the morning after chilling in the fridge. I MUCH preferred it after it was chilled/slightly more firm, and it was still good 2 days later! Thanks for a great recipe! NOTE: I brushed the unbaked pie shells with some of the egg white before I baked them. This protected the crust from getting soggy from the warm lemon filling.

Cherry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
This was excellent and incredibly easy! I followed exactly and chilled overnight. It was nice and firm, not too sweet, with a hint of lemon flavor. Perfect. NOTE: I used the Keebler "+2 servings" graham cracker premade crust and the filling fit much better and had enough room for the cherry pie filling. Thanks for a rediculously easy dessert!
