Shrimp Mold

Wonderful....but to make even tastier: Add a tablespoon of dried dill (or more to taste) and omit the half the water and add a quarter cup of dry white wine to dissolve the gelatin. YUMMERS!

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Amazing. My first attempt at from-scratch stuffing and I will never go back to the boxed stuff. I used a loaf of homemade wheat bread that I had in the freezer (it was 1½ pounds) and followed the rest of the recipe, and I added around 1/3 cup chopped walnuts. I baked it in a 9x13 pan and it fit perfectly. My stuffing came out a little crispy on top, but that's my fault. I meant to add a little broth as it was cooking. It was so excellent! Thanks for sharing, Carlota!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I followed the recipe (although my turkey breast was around 8 pounds) with the addition of maybe 1/4 cup chicken broth in the bottom of the slow cooker. I cooked it on high for around three hours and then on low for around four hours. The gravy that the broth and juices made was lovely, but the turkey had a funky flavour to it. I'm not sure if the slow cooker sort of intensified the turkey taste (in the same way that we don't like the flavour of ground turkey) or what, but it was off-putting... It may have been our turkey, though it's a well-known brand I've purchased before without problem. I don't think I'll do it again with turkey, but definitely with a chicken! Thanks for sharing, Ms. Sally!

This was a very good dish and easy to make. It was super sweet, though, so I it seemed more like a dessert type dish. My husband gobbled it up!

Very good! I added a little olive oil as recommended and I skipped the glaze. I made a quick garlic spread out of pre-minced garlic and Country Crock and I used this for garlic toast on one loaf. Very good! Thanks for sharing, Janet!

Creamy Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I'm sure people who enjoy pumpkin soup would love this, but we had never had it. I made it because my daughter heard about pumpkin soup at school and decided we needed to give it a try. It was weird and not great... I tried saving the huge pot of soup by adding brown sugar and additional spices as recommended; unfortunately, while they improved the soup, it was still unappetizing. But I don't regret trying! Now I know that we'll keep pumpkin in our pies and cookies. :) Thanks for sharing, Emmi!

Almond Wild Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I bought a brown/wild rice blend (wild rice is EXPENSIVE!), and followed the directions on the bag in cooking it, which means I didn't need the full 5 1/2 cups of broth. It turned out great - served it with cranberry chicken at a dinner party, and people could not stop talking about it. Next time I will add some more golden raisins and some green onion/shallot. As far as leftovers are concerned, follow the other tips here and add a little broth or water to it before heating, otherwise it gets really dried out. Overall, though - a great side dish!!!

Cranberry Streusel Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
Top notch! Even my husband who doesn't approve of high-calorie desserts succumbe to this pie. I cut the sugar in half, substituting a 1/8 of a cut of Nu-Stevia, in both the cranberry filling and the steusel topping. Used pecans instead of walnuts. This is a KEEPER!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
I've tinkered with this recipe some. I make it a little wetter by adding buttermilk (sometimes take out a little sour cream and substitute the buttermilk). I add in white choc chips and frozen huckleberries. My son can't get enough. Any other scones are now just a dissappointment.
