Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Use bacon grease or sasauge grease instead of oil. In a pinch, you can use butter. Do not brown the oil/flour mixture, but do be sure to cook it on medium/low for several minutes before adding the milk or the gravy will taste like flour.

We made this with my Mom and we just made the meat like taco meat, but in patty form. It was wonderful and the kids couldn't get enough. We bought fresh pita bread from a Middle eastern place ran home and made this. AWESOME!!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

We made this in the bread maker and I was not as impressed. Next time I will make it with fresh rosemary and mix it by hand. It went great with the Portugese Chorizo soup on a snowy day!

THis has an interesting flavor, but it tastes more like a hamburger with flavors added. It also does not look very good when it comes out of the foil.

Famous Butter Chicken

This was really good and a nice change to our normal shake n bake chicken! I do think it needs a tad bit more spice but other than that it was good! I will make again and add a little more seasonings for our taste.

These were good, but really they were not crispy on the outside, they were all kinda just mooshy. Anyways, they were still alright, but I will just stick with frozen ones in the deep fryer, thanks!

This recipe is my absolute FAVORITE! We make it all the time! I have it down by memory. We like to put olive oil in the bowl and then olive oil down when we cook it. Then brush it with butter and it tastes SO YUMMY! We always use garlic as well. We even tried putting pizza sauce and cheese and it tasted delicious! Thank you soo much for this wonderful recipe! I have shared it with everyone and it is a big hit with everyone that tries it!

These were good! A little time consuming, because I put my own concoction in it, but good! I put cheese and sauted onions and bell peppers in it. SO GOOD! We dipped them in some sweet and sour sauce!

Marinated Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I tried this recipe, and maybe it was because I didn't marinate for very long, but the flavor did nothing for me, I was really disappointed. I cooked it in the oven and it came out juicy and cooked perfect but the flavor just wasn't anything special. Maybe I will try again but not for a while. Thanks anyway.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
Thank you so much for submitting this recipe!Guys-these are the best! Such a simple basic recipe where you can take off w/it and easily customize to your scone eating tastes. As stated before...a food processor is going to make this recipe much easier. 1 tip on the butter---before mixing anything...cubed up the butter and place in a bowl in the freezer. After all your dry ingredients are mixed together, take cubed butter out of freezer and spread it evenly over the dry ingredients in fd proc. and pulse up. Also, just for my personal perference on appearance...after placing them on a cookie sheet-I dabbed each with egg whites and sprinkled sugar. It gives it that golden color on top. These were so YUMMY. I no longer have to go to the local coffee shop to get a scone because I can just make these.

Slow Cooker Tamale Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
Very easy to make and FILLING recipe! This is a cross between chili & tamales. The cornbread turned out delicious! 4 or 5 bites of this and I was so full I could hardly breathe. Definately will be making again. The only thing I tweaked is that while cooking the ground beef I threw in some chopped onion & chopped green peppers. I served with chili cheese fritos and/or tortilla chips. Yummy! Also, is used lean (93/7) ground beef.

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This is the 4th Sausage and Lentil soup recipe I've made from this site and I finally hit pay dirt. This one rocks! I essentially did the recipe according to the author except I used all chicken stock instead of water, a full pound of Italian sausage, added 8 oz. of sliced mushrooms, doubled the spices and added 2 cups of fresh spinach. I also used red lentils since the recipe didn't specify red or green. PERFECT lentil soup, delicious and hearty.

Easy Cheesy Cream of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
I thought the base for this recipe was really good, but I did change a few things. I added almost double the milk because it was way too thick for my liking. I also tossed in some onion powder (its like my secret ingredient for everything). I also ended up using regular shredded cheddar cheese, because I didn't have processed in the house. I think next time I'll add some ham or chicken... There are a lot of possibilities!
