Lemon Macaroon Tartlets

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
These were really good and have a good presentation. I made chocolate pudding instead of lemon. If I make these again, however, I will find a filling other than pudding. It just didn't seem to have the right texture or flavor as a filling for these. I like the idea of a lemon curd or maybe a chocolate mousse

Triple-Layer Pumpkin Spice Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This was so easy to make (the most difficult part is finding the pudding in stock at the store), and tastes almost like a real pumpkin pie! I used skim milk and light cool whip, so this is a tasty treat for fewer calories.

Very tasty! I didn't add radishes, and I used reduced-calorie mayonnaise. It was great in the fridge for days!

Venison and Wild Rice Stuffed Acorn Squash

Good recipe with an interesting mix of flavors. Next time I will remove skin and cube squash, ten place into a baking dish drizzle with butter and top with meat mixture, then broil before serving. Could be made ahead of time and broiled when ready to serve.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

The recipe is a great base to start with. I tasted it and agreed with other reviewers it needed more, so I added a can each of tomato sauce, corn, and black beans, as well as additional spices. I will be making this for years to come!

Oven Fried Chicken III

My family and I loved this. Kinda made my own mayo base - mayo on one side, Cardini's ceaser on the other. Ran out of breadcrumbs so I used 1/2 bread crumbs, 1/2 crushed Ritz crackers. YUM!

Hearty Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Made this last night 072809, it is very good. Furthermore, I did use several of the suggestions by the other reviewers. I used the amount of meat exactly as the recipe suggests but I thought it could have had a little more shrimp; like ¾ lb instead of ½ lb. As far as the spices I doubled all of them as suggested by another reviewer, and I added 2 TBS of crushed peppers along with 1/8 teaspoon of Chinese Five Spice (Definitely Optional). Additionally, I added (1) 14oz can of chicken broth and a splash of White Wine along with 1 TBS of tomato flavored chicken bouillon; all optional except the (1) 14 oz can of chicken broth. I agree with the other reviewers it would be too much tomato and not enough broth without the extra can of chicken broth. I made boxed New Orleans style rice from the store which had dried veggies and seasoning in the mix; I used two boxes of the mix and added one 10oz can of Rotel Tomatoes for each box. The box directions call for meat and other items to be added but of course I already had that in the Jambalaya. I served the Jambalaya and Rice separate but later mixed them together for storage of leftovers, it makes a lot. Next time I will just mix them together at the start. This is a good recipe and can be tweaked to what you like, I like very spicy Jambalaya, but if I were to make a single recommendation to this recipe it would be make it like the recipe but add one 14oz can of chicken broth.

Roast Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
Great recipe! Both my husband and I absolutely loved them. I used small russet potatoes and they came out beautifully. Because we both love bacon, I added 4 strips of thick-cut fresh bacon to the top. It roasted with the potatoes and added a nice smokey, savory flavor. The only thing that confused me is it doesn't specify whether to cook covered or uncovered. So I roasted them covered for about 20 minutes, then uncovered them and let them roast another 10 minutes and they came out cooked perfectly in the center with a slightly crispy outer. I will definitely be making these again!

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
I thought this recipe was too sweet for potatoes salad, although my family did keep coming back over the next couple of days and snacking on it until it was gone. I usually serve potatoes salad when we are having a BBQ and the other food is rich and sweet, so therefore the potatoes salad needs to be not so sweet. In my family someone always brings the bean salad to a gathering, this is a recipe famous to my family and consist of red beans, celery, celery salt, onion, sweet pickle relish or sweet jerkins cut up, and boiled egg just to name a few ingredients. All tied together with mayo, a little sugar, and either vinegar or some of the juice from the sweet pickle’s. My point is, I think the egg mixture from the potatoes recipe would work well with the bean salad recipe. The next time I make bean salad I am going to use this mixture and try it out on the family.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

I just saw this recipe but have made it many times. It's a great recipe but this person left out one of the most important parts; Eat them with a homemade style jam, it offsets the heat and gives it a good finishing touch. I suggest raspberry or peach.

Apple Muffins

Wow! I made this on a whim this morning for my husband and I and we've eaten nearly every muffin. Perfect sweet factor, not too sugary but not bland. Excellent texture from the apples (I used Gala) and very moist. I will definitely be baking these again soon.

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
The chicken was very moist, but that was the only good thing about it. The flavor was too sweet, or salty, or something was just off with the flavor. I really just didn't like it, and neither did my kids, I don't think I will make this again.

Ian's Potato-Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Excellent recipe, I followed some of the other suggestions and added three cheese tortellini's, as well as chopping some of the celery tops into the mixture, gives the recipe a rich look. I also doubled the recipe but included one can of beef broth mixed in with the five cups of water and I still added the beef cubes. With a family of four I thought there would be leftovers, and there was but not much . . .just enough for my lunch the next day. The basic recipe is good enough but you could be creative with this one. One example would be to add green chiles for some spice, maybe next time it was good the way it is.

Pumpkin Bread IV

I made this bread as directed except I used 1 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce. I made mini loaves for teachers. I cut one to sample. My kids said "we don't think we like pumpkin bread". I told them to just try it. "We likey the pumpkin bread" they shouted! Yipee - another keeper from Allrecipes. Thanks for sharing this great recipe.
