Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
This earns a full 5+ stars! I wasn't sure about a few of the ingredients (celery, bacon, bell peppers, Italian sausage) but was I ever wrong! This is the chili I will be making from now on. I used to use a kit, until now, that had Masa flour you added to the chili. I liked the flavor it gave, so I may try that in this recipe next time! My family likes hot food, and as this recipe stands, we did not find it hot- it did have some spiciness to it though. For us I would add some of my fresh x-hot Hatch chilies to give it a bit more kick. Spicy food is different to everyone though so it is hard to tell someone exactly how hot something is! I will be sending a batch, which by the way is HUGE to work with my husband. One batch of this is enough for 3 meals for my family of four. Served with Fritos, onions, cheese and sour cream! Comfort food at it's best! Yum!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I found this recipe today and went right out to get the ingredients to make it. I used fresh boneless/skinless chicken breasts, Franks Wing Sauce, cheddar cheese, and Marie's Blue Cheese dressing. I am taking it to a party tonight, and after tasting this...I fully expect it to be a BIG hit. This is very yummy!! I even used the occasion to buy a new small 4 qt. crock pot that came with a travel bag! ;) This way my husband can transport it to work, because I know all the guys there will LOVE it! I can't report on any surface oil yet, but I suspect it will be gone before that happens! I'm serving it with celery sticks, Chicken in a Biskit, and Tostitos scoops.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Very good! I made this for New Year's Eve for a quiet family night at home. It was a big hit. I added the bread crumbs, and I'm not too sure about them. If I use them again, I would just put a small amount on, maybe 1/4 cup. Too bad you can't deep fry the bread crumbs for that great crispy taste! This will be used often. I can't wait to take it to a party.

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
I followed the ingredient list exactly, but used boneless, skinless breasts. I marinated all day. This was really tasty. I served with broccoli and white rice and used the leftover marinade as a sauce on the rice. The leftovers were even better! Thanks!

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
These were pretty tasty. I used low sodium soy sauce and they weren't too salty (and I don't really care for salt). I marinated for 8 hours and then baked. I will definately make thesea again. Thanks!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

I thought this was good but I had something richer in mind. Still tastes like Nestles out of the pouch. I had a to die for mix given to my family as a child and I am still searching for something that stands up to that one!

This was great! I think next time maybe I will add a little sour cream to make it a bit creamier, but it was great just the way it is also. Thanks!

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
This IS the best carrot cake ever! The one and only recipe I use. I get rave reviews everytime I make it, and if I'm not making it- I am always getting requests. Very thick, dense and heavy. Full of flavor. I soak the raisins for 1 hour, drain the pineapple for 1 hour, add 4 tsp of vanilla and have used 1/2 oil and 1/2 applesause. I make mine in 3 10" pans and make it a three layer cake. This cuts down on cook time, plus makes a great appearance. I use the cream cheese frosting ll for this recipe. Exceptional!!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Very good, thick pancakes. I added a little more sugar and a bit more spices. Delightful on a cool fall morning! They are thick, so if you prefer them a bit thinner add a touch more milk.

Great recipe. Not too sweet, and very quick and easy. I wasn't sure if I would prefer the ketchup to the tomato sauce/soup recipes but I do. Very good!

Excellent noodles for a homemade soup. My family likes them 1/4" thick. Big and hearty. I cut them into fun shapes with very small cookies cutters too. No changes to recipe.

Jamie's Minestrone

Your search is OVER! Oh my GOSH! This is absolutely outstanding! When I make this I double the recipe, making leftovers. This freezes well too. I made this for some guys my husband brought home from work. I was a little nervous about using the batch I had frozen, but it was perfect. The guys were still talking about it at work 3 days later! I make no changes to this recipe, perfect as is.

Cinnamon Rolls III

This is a great recipe! Very easy to make in a bread machine. I used a whole box of pudding mix as recommended by others. I think without doing that it would have been fine as well. They didn't last long at my house and by the next day I was getting requests to make it again! A true keeper!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
Yummy, yummy, yummy! I have been cold all day and refused to grill, so I just put this with all of the marinade in the oven and cooked it that way. Some of the sauce separated, but it was still so delicious! I marinated it for about 8 hours. I always over-marinate. I made rice and put some of the sauce over the rice. Thanks for a great recipe! I am trying hard not to go get more!

Tzatziki Sauce I

This was delicious!!! I used dried dill because that was all I had and it was still great. I will definitely try fresh next time, but I don't see this getting any better! I used this with the Grecian Pork Tenderlion on this site and made gyros out of it with this sauce. Thanks for the recipe!

Grilled Montana Trout

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This was good, but I thought it was missing something. Even though rosemary is a strong herb the taste of the fish seemed to overwhelm it (maybe because my fish were so fresh?). I think that next time I'll add a bit of onion powder. That might do the trick. Don't get me wrong, though--good trout recipe!
