Apple Butterscotch Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
I tried this because I was looking for an apple pie without a crust top(ran out of Crisco making the bottom!) Like the first person who tried this I made a larger portion. I used the servings calculator for an 8 serving pie. I also used my own crust (Basic Flaky Crust from here). The filling was perfect but the topping I will half the next time, just a little too much. Over all though we all really like this including my husband and out 2 guests! I will make this again as I loved the butterscotch with the apples and not having to deal with a crust top.

I made this for breakfast last week and didn't bother prepping it the night prior. I followed the recipe exactly and my friends and son loved it!

Watermelon Cooler Slushy

I left out the salt and sweetened it with honey instead of sugar. It tasted like a Watermelon Limeade! I may take the suggestion of others and add flavored vodka or Midori next time I make it.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
I printed this out in 2003 and finally made it. Now I am sorry I didn't find it earlier. This couldn't be easier to make and it is a great recipe. Maybe I'll try to mix in an herb or two next time but just as written, we enjoyed it.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I made this for 130 women at a church dinner. It was a hit! To stretch it, I added spinach leaves and threw in some tropical mix instead of the separate nuts/cranberries. The dressing is fantastic!

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
I made this receipe but I did it on the stove top and just simmered it. I also added sliced peppers and onions on top of the pork chop before adding the cola mixture. It came out tender and the sauce was very rich and thick

Aegean Chicken Salad

Fabulous! I just made this today for lunch and it is great! Trying to get away from so much mayo (which I love, love, LOVE) because it is really not good for you. Greek yoghurt is the key here. American yogurt just won't do!

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Very good! (But you should maybe warn others before tasting so they don't expect chocolate and get disappointed! Either that, or add more ginger so that it has a more obviously "spice cookie" kick)

Sour Cream Enchiladas

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This dish was great....easy to make and very tasty. I was worried about baking them seem side down but they stayed rolled when I served them. Next time I'd make more sauce and add more cheese to the top but thats just personal preference. The changes I did make this time were using smaller tortillas and since I didn't have a whole onion on hand I just used instant chopped onions, which were cooked with the chicken...and the chicken was seasoned with pepper, seasoned salt, cayenne, garlic powder and crushed red pepper.

White Velvet Cake II

It tasted just like a sugar cookie like another reviewer said. My cake was so moist that it fell apart and I couldn't turn it out onto a cake stand. It also was so sweet that none of us could finish our pieces. I don't think I would make it again.

Award Winning Chili

Talk about your false advertising! No chili made with packaged chili mix would win any awards at a chili contest. And bacon? You HAVE to be kidding! This is good, but award winning it's not.

Lebanese-Style Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I made this with dinner tonight and we liked it a lot. I used just 1/4 tsp cayenne and it was plenty spicy for us (I have a 5 year old daughter), 2 Tb oil, the juice of just one medium lemon, more salt, vegetable base instead of chicken, and 2 chopped carrots. Also some extra cumin: it's hard to get too much of this awesome spice in my household. I did not have any cilantro on hand so I skipped it but it was great anyway. Highly recommended for weekday supper; try with salad and a baked potato. Easy, high fiber, and healthy!
