Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
This family stand-by was absolutely original--zesty sweet! I usually use tons of worcestire, but this was great without it. Sauteing the onions and garlic with the beef was a great trick. My 4 picky palates asked for seconds! Of course, I had to skip the bell pepper. This will be my new give-away meal for moms with new babies, with a loaf of crusty french bread and a crunchy salad.

I used this recipe with beef ribs instead of the pork ribs and it turned out great. My husband loved them!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
I used 1doz eggs, and let it sit overnight, in the morning, before putting it in the oven, I stirred the bread around (I found that this keeps the top from drying out, as does covering it in foil to bake). My two little girls and my husband loved it.

Homemade Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
I really liked the look of this recipe, but I made some adjustments. I used 1C brown sugar, and instead of the water I used 1C of Prickly Pear Juice. My family LOVED it. Thank you for the recipe.

Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I made this sauce for my homemade egg rolls and my family loved it. The only thing I did different was to use a total of 2 & 1/4 tsp of corn starch, oh, and I didn't add any salt, it still turned out good.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
This was by far the easiest cake to make for me. However I did things differently. I followed the recipe for the cake. I bought a can of cherry pie filling (tart ones), and when I made the whipped cream I added 1/4C cocoa powder and 1/4C + 1/8C of powdered sugar. I put one cake on the stand after they had cooled, put a layer of the whipped cream, and a layer of cherries. Then I frosted the cake with the remaining whipped cream, and spread the remaining cherries on top. I then sprinkled cocoa powder and powdered sugar over the top (I didn't have the chocolate to make curls with).

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
I made this for my family as a pudding and they loved it. I added 1/2tsp strawberry extract (artificial). I also made it again with evaporated canned milk and it made it a little creamier. Love this (I plan to use it to fill a cake)

Russian Black Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I made this for my sister who loves black bread and she just loved it. Thank you for an excellent black bread recipe. I followed the advice of another and used onion salt and mixed by hand instead of a bread machine and it still turned out really good.

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I tried this recipe for breakfast and it was perfect! I did add 1/4 tsp onion salt, and 2T bacon grease (the turkey I used was extra lean, so to keep if from being to dry I added the bacon grease). My husband (whom is not into healthy eating as much as I am) really liked it after he tasted it.

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
I give this recipe a 5 star because of its potential. I think next time I'll eliminate the celery salt and garlic salt (and use minced garlic as others have recommended) as the salt content was overpowering. My kids and husband devoured it.

I've used this as a special Thanksgiving dish for 5 years now. What a wonderful, savory change-up to an ordinary everyday dish! I recommend using fresh herbs as they make it just that much more flavorful.

Country White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
This is by far the best bread recipe I have ever used! Now, I rarely buy bread from the store. I do add to it sometimes, 1tsp garlic granules or use onion salt instead of regular salt. I have substituted 1c rye flour, 1 1/2c wheat flour and the rest white flour. I have also done 3c wheat flour, and the rest white flour. I have ground up nuts (almonds, sunflower seeds, and flax seed). So far my family has loved everything. I am almost afraid to try another recipe. Thank you so much for the recipe.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
These cookies are very good. I love spiced cookies and these were very tastey, I liked how cakelike they were. I don't feel the recipe needs any changes. I liked the touch of sweetness the icing added. Going to make these again.

Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
These were delicious and easy to make. I was wanting to make some cookies one day and I had bought a lot of peanut butter so I looked for peanut butter cookies. I saw these and I really like nutter butters. They seemed too sweet for my husband and I at first but then became addicted to them. I plan on making these again soon!!!

Our Worship Pastor loves ding dongs, so I thought I'd make him a ding dong cake. I found this recipe and boy was it a hit. I've since made 3 and am always asked when I'm making it again. It was simple to make.
