Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I thought this was a tasty, nutritious side dish. My first time cooking with quinoa. I used only 1/2 of an onion, 1 1/2 cloves garlic, used chicken broth instead of vegetable, italian parsley instead of cilantro and only 1 can of the beans. I also did not have any cayenne pepper so I substituted that with some chili powder and spinkled in some crushed red pepper for some heat. I thought this was really good and I will definitely cook it again.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I like how you can interchange the applesauce and the vegetable oil. I used 1/2 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup white sugar & 1 cup brown suger. I think its plenty sweet with 2 cups total sugar. I highly recommend using the brown sugar. It definitely gave depth to the taste. It's what was missing in my old recipe. Next time I would not use the spray to grease the pan; I will use shortening instead so the bread comes out easier.

I made this mix for Christmas day and I really enjoyed it. It was thick and yummy. I did use V8 instead of tomato juice but other than that I followed the recipe exactly. Let it chill in the fridge.

Sausage Egg Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
I had never made any type of egg casserole before. I saw this one and thought I would try it. It always bothers me when others do this, now I'm going to. I used mild Italian sausage, 1/2 and 1/2, not milk, only 1 and 1/2 cans of the potato soup, I added rosemary, basil, chives (fresh), garlic powder and 1/2 of a green pepper. It was a HIT at Christmas brunch. Thank you so much for posting your recipe. I will absolutly make this again and again.

I loved this dessert! it was so easy and everyone loves it! I was a little worried that the cake would get mushy, so I made it only twenty min. before eating, but the left overs i put in the frige, were just as tasty.( and not really mushy)

Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
I loved this recipe! The first time i tried it I made as instructed and loved them, but my little boy was not so fond of the little green "bugs" so now i just leave them out. They are still so wonderful, I love the sour cream flavor, and it makes the potatoes so much tastier!

Country White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
This is by far the best bread recipe I have ever used! Now, I rarely buy bread from the store. I do add to it sometimes, 1tsp garlic granules or use onion salt instead of regular salt. I have substituted 1c rye flour, 1 1/2c wheat flour and the rest white flour. I have also done 3c wheat flour, and the rest white flour. I have ground up nuts (almonds, sunflower seeds, and flax seed). So far my family has loved everything. I am almost afraid to try another recipe. Thank you so much for the recipe.

Not for the non-garlic lover, but I love to fix this chicken for myself...a true garlic mama! I often cut it up and serve on top of greens and sliced strawberries with balsamic viniagrette dressing for a great salad! Super, garlicky chicken with lots of possibilities!

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
I found this recipe on this site years ago, and have been making it ever since! I use extra thick chops and it's fantastic! The only changes I make are to add 1/2 white wine, 1/2 chicken broth instead of the whole 3/4 cup broth for extra flavor. Also I usually use a cajun seasoning blend instead of paprika. Be sure not to boil the sauce after adding the sour cream-once it separates, it's ruined. I serve over cooked noodles. Very yummy!

Neat Sloppy Joes

Yum!!! I use to make another sloppy joeo recipe which me and my DH LOVED but the kids wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. The kids LOVED this recipe. I left out the celery and onions but did ad a 1/2 tsp onion powder. I also took one reviewers changes and used 1/2 ground turkey and whole wheat buns for a healthier version. This goes into my rotation!
