Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
I made this recipe exactly except I used one can of chicken broth instead of water. It was very easy to prepare. It was yummy too. I have 3 very picky kid eaters and two out of the three ate it liking the chicken the best. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought it was pretty salty.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Not a favorite. It was kind of bland and we didn't like the texture. Maybe it needed to rest more. I had some leftover and made my husband an meatloaf sandwich a few days later and he liked it better as a leftover.

This was yummy and easy to make. I made half to go with dinner and saved half to make for lunch tomorrow! Followed the instructions exactly except I use a light margarine to cut on calories.

Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I made this sauce for my homemade egg rolls and my family loved it. The only thing I did different was to use a total of 2 & 1/4 tsp of corn starch, oh, and I didn't add any salt, it still turned out good.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
Bravo! It is rare that I don't "tinker" with a recipe, but with this one, it was definitely unnecessary! My fiance requested that I make this dish. I had not ever sampled this kind of soup, but I was blown away by the results! As mentioned, I made no changes. It is truly rich, scrumptious and wonderful as written! Take it from a true "foodie" ~ this one is worth giving a try! Thank you HAMM for a fantastic recipe!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
Oh my goodness! This recipe truly deserves it's rave reviews! I started making this last Fall, and taking it to work. My co-workers keep begging me to bring more in. It disappears fast!!! Much moister than other quick bread recipes that I have tried, with the perfect amount of sweetness. I added just a dash of ground nutmeg and ground cloves to mine. A small word of caution: at first I was taken aback by the thickness and stickiness of the batter. I thought I had done something wrong, but it is supposed to be this way since the end result is so wonderful! I did find it helpful to use a greased (with cooking spray) rubber spatula to transfer the batter to the baking pans. Thank you,v monte, for a recipe that I know will be enjoyed again and again!

Tequila Cocktail Sauce

I made this for my brother's birthday (he adores shrimp!) and it was very well received! Great flavor as is~no changes necessary! I did refrigerate the sauce overnight and it was the perfect consistency when I served it. Thanks for a great recipe.

Awesome Ham Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
I made this recipe recently when I had a lot of leftover ham. I guess I should try it with dill pickles instead. I found the sweetness of the sweet pickles and pickle juice to be a bit overwhelming. It did taste better the second day, but overall not my favorite flavors.

I didn't care for this dish much. I was surprised since I like orange and we eat a lot of chicken. It needed something, more spice but less curry.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
This was delicious, very easy to make. It's nice that it's a one-pan meal. Probably super delish because of all the butter and oil. I didn't have any sherry so I used 3/4 cup marsala.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
This was by far the easiest cake to make for me. However I did things differently. I followed the recipe for the cake. I bought a can of cherry pie filling (tart ones), and when I made the whipped cream I added 1/4C cocoa powder and 1/4C + 1/8C of powdered sugar. I put one cake on the stand after they had cooled, put a layer of the whipped cream, and a layer of cherries. Then I frosted the cake with the remaining whipped cream, and spread the remaining cherries on top. I then sprinkled cocoa powder and powdered sugar over the top (I didn't have the chocolate to make curls with).

Pastry Cream

I made this for my family as a pudding and they loved it. I added 1/2tsp strawberry extract (artificial). I also made it again with evaporated canned milk and it made it a little creamier. Love this (I plan to use it to fill a cake)

Russian Black Bread

I made this for my sister who loves black bread and she just loved it. Thank you for an excellent black bread recipe. I followed the advice of another and used onion salt and mixed by hand instead of a bread machine and it still turned out really good.

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I tried this recipe for breakfast and it was perfect! I did add 1/4 tsp onion salt, and 2T bacon grease (the turkey I used was extra lean, so to keep if from being to dry I added the bacon grease). My husband (whom is not into healthy eating as much as I am) really liked it after he tasted it.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I thought this was a tasty, nutritious side dish. My first time cooking with quinoa. I used only 1/2 of an onion, 1 1/2 cloves garlic, used chicken broth instead of vegetable, italian parsley instead of cilantro and only 1 can of the beans. I also did not have any cayenne pepper so I substituted that with some chili powder and spinkled in some crushed red pepper for some heat. I thought this was really good and I will definitely cook it again.
