Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
I love tomatoes and I love onions soi this recipe sparked my interest. I was surprised at how lightly sweet the recipe was. No single flavor overwhelmed the other. I make this on a regular basis now and the only thing I have changed is that I halved the the vinegar, sugar and oil. This has enough juice to coat the tomatoes and onion so we get all the flavor without added calories/fat. My husband, who does not like tomatoes standing out in a recipe, really enjoyed this recipe. My 16 year old, on the other hand loves tomatoes (like her mother) but HATES onions, unless their chopped tiny and cooked into the food. She may not have loved this recipe as much as I or her dad but she liked it and that is a huge ordeal for me. I was shocked.

Stovetop Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This was a refreshingly, different, tasty side dish. I am always looking for ways to dress up standard dishes, like pinto beans, and this receipe did not disappoint. What's even more exciting is that the ingredients are those I nomally already have on hand so I can make it at a whim.

Misti's Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Delicious! I let my husband taste the chicken before dinner and he could not wait for dinner! At dinner, my 17 and 16 year old were impressed, as well. Excellent marinade recipe. I will DEFINITELY use this recipe again.

Ginger Pork Over Spaghetti

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
I found this recipe because I had various igredients and no idea what to do with them. Ths recipe was in the list of recipes my search produced based upon one or two ingedients. I had no idea what to expect but I was excited to try something different. I've only recently discovered "Ginger" (after it was a main ingredient in a couple other recipes) and I like the flavor. I was not disappointed. This has a unique flavor and I thought it was a very nice dish. I used steak because I did not have pork. I'm not sure if it mad a difference in the flavor but it worked for me. My husband, 16 year old son and 2 year old son all liked it, as well.

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
This was quick, easy and, as my seventeen year old says, good enough to come from Panda! :) Thank you so much for the recipe. I never realized sweet and sour sauce was made from ingredients I always have on hand...

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
This was okay. I have never seen ground beef in a stir-fry before, and it definitely wasn't my favorite. I think I would like it a lot more if the meat was seasoned and there were twice the amount of vegetables. We ended up adding some salt, sesame oil, and hot chili sauce to give it some more flavor.

Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
Absolutely Fabulous! My hubby loves them. I made a change and took the advice of others by using 3/4c. brown and white sugar. I also cut the rolled oats by a half of a cup and added 3/4 c. coconut flakes. We love coconut and they turned out great. The only trouble I had was getting them baked before my hubby ate all the dough!

World's Best Lasagna

This Lasagna was super. My husband and I enjoyed it. I would however use a more spicy italian sausage. It was a little on the sweet side and we like spice. Definitely will use this again. Thanks!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
This recipe is super easy and really tasty (not to mention fast). I always add a tablespoon or two of pizza seasoning to the crust, as it gives it an extra zip. This crust is equal to any of the double rise crusts I've tried and is ready in less than half the time!

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
I hate to do negative reviews, but this hummus just tasted like plain chickpeas. I tried it after I noticed that I didn't have any tahini to make my usual recipe, so maybe it was the lack of tahini. I ended up putting some lemon juice, more garlic, and paprika to make it tastier, but couldn't quite enjoy it.

This was much too greasy for me, it almost tasted "fried" around the edges. It would probably be better made with applesauce.

I always want to eat healthy muffins for breakfast but have never found a muffin recipe that has enough moisture and flavor for my tastes. I have now!! Even my kids liked them, at 16, 15, 1. Hubby did not like them as much as I did but he sure ate his share.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I thought these were really good cookies but they were not "awesomely delicious" cookies. Now, I did make them with vanilla instead of Brandy so I am going to make them again and see if there is a significant difference in flavoring. I would definitely make them again but they would not make it in my top 10 fave cookies list.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
My first attempt at lasagna and I could not have picked a better recipe! It was easy, it was delicious and it was a family hit. I can not wait to make this again. I following tips from other reviewers, such as not cooking the noodles and just soaking them, as well as not cooking the sauce. I made it the night before, as I was cooking that night's dinner and let the lasagna sit in the fridge until the next evening, popping it in the oven 1.5 hours prior to dinner. I had to cook it longer, since it was cold from the refrigerator. The oinly thing I will do different next time is use shredded mozzarella, rather than sliced. It was difficult to make sure it spread evenly, which is an OCD thing in my part, probably. Definitely a keeper.

I liked, not loved, it but no one else in my family did. I was the only dish still full at the end of dinner. I ate it as a in-between meals meal but ended up throwing over half of it away. Will not be making it again.

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
I made these for breakfasts, since my 16-year old daughter wanted something healthier than cereal or oatmeal. I thought they were so moist and light and tasty. The banana and strawberry combination was perfect and the hint of cinnamon was just right. I actually have not made these in a while and am printing this recipe right now to go shopping for the ingredients. I'm craving these for a morning treat. I feel comfortable giving these to my 21 month old, as well, as a nice alternative to his usual of bananas and a Nutrigrain Bar.

Sauerkraut Pork Supper

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
I really enjoyed this dish. The strong flavors complimented the pork wonderfully and I loved the veggies as a side dish. The brown sugar did not make the meal "sweet". Maybe it just mellowed out the kraut flavor? I will definitely make this again, as the whole family loved it and that ranks it high in my book.
