Hamburger Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
This is an "all right" stew... i added a little less water than called for, and it ended up tasting sorta like the chili I make in my crock pot. It's not bad, but it's not very stew-like.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Delicious! I too used less sugar and substituted the swiss for feta. Next time I will cut the cashews to a heaping half cup instead of a full cup.

Pineapple Orange Sorbet

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
This recipe is absolutely amazing! It's just the right texture and has the best taste with no funky after-taste like a lot of other sorbets. You don't necessarily HAVE to use pineapple tidbits- you can use any kind- we used rings and it turned out fine. Very good- if you are in doubt about making- MAKE IT because it is sooooo easy and sooooooooooooo good!

Ground Beef Mexican Style

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
i took everyone's advice and added taco seasoning, but I felt it was a little TOO flavorful with that in addition to the onions, salsa, sour cream and cheese. So I think next time I'll use half of the packet I used macaroni noodles, too (because i don't like the texture of egg noodles) and it turned out great! I think I'll use the other advice and try it with rice next time.

I've made this recipe a couple times now, and each time it has turned out the same. It tastes pretty good, but sinks down in the middle. It looks really bad. I will go with a different recipe from now on.

Mini Cheesecakes II

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
I wish I could give this more than five stars. When I started out looking for a cheesecake recipe, I wanted a WHOLE CHEESECAKE, but this is SO much better! I made these for my husband's birthday, and they were to DIE for! Usually, if there is more than one bad review, I'll expect the worst when I try a recipe, but these turned out perfectly. I like a thick "crust" though, and the first batch i tried didn't allow that. I just scooped the graham crackers directly on the bottom, and only what was sticking to the cheesecake stayed. The rest sat in the muffin liners. Since that didn't work at first, I just made a whole graham cracker crust recipe, and scooped large portions into the muffin liners. It was perfect.

It was pretty good. I would probably make again, especially on a cold night. I think I'll try adding lime juice as recommended by another.

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
This was my first time eating and making crepes. So I guess my review comes from somewhat a picky eater perspective- I personally thought that the crepes were kind of flavorless. I made a strawberry compote and topped with whipped cream. I didn't much care for them but my family raved over them- My mom said they reminded her of the ones her mother used to make so I guess that's good because my grandma was a gourmet chef! overall they were quite good- I just personally don't prefer crepes after growing up with my grandpa's German french toast (very flavorful) I grew up with very strong tasting foods so this was just a bit bland but everyone else liked it so it was pretty good.

Ham and Pineapple Kabobs

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
This is a really great tasting food. I was somewhat hesitant to put the glaze on but i generously dosed it on and boy was it good! it tastes exactly like the honey glaze on honey baked hams believe it or not. However, the food itself was somewhat plain- like it needed something more on the kabob to make it finished- it just didn't seem like it was finished. Good served with seasoned wild rice.

Ultimate Cranberry Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
The cake is really REALLY rich. it does have a really nice flavor however. for the topping I used half and half instead of cream due to resources and I thought it to taste even better. 3 bites was about all i could take this cake was just too rich for me and my family- have a big glass of milk nearby if you intend to eat a whole slice. otherwise very very very good!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
This chicken is just amazing! It is moist and tender on the inside, crisp and flavorful on the outside, and somewhere in between the garlic is there. The garlic taste isn't too extremely overpowering which is nice. I use crushed up Ritz crackers for the coating, leaving some big chunks for a crunchier texture. The crackers also brought a nice buttery kind of flavor to the blend. My family now constantly asks for this chicken dinner almost every week they loved it so much. It is just a very very good recipe. (tastes good as a meal with seasoned wild rice cooked in chicken broth and some green beens or blend of vegetables.)

German Potato Salad

These are good, but very different. My husband lived in Germany and he said this is very similar to what he had over there. We ate it a little luke warm, and it's much better to eat really warm or hot.

Very tasty. You can pretty much add whatever you like. I added chopped fresh spinach and orange peppers (I didn't have red) to get a little color. I also added some dried basil and oregeno.

Italian Wedding Cookies III

These were easy and tasted great! Instead of rolling them in powdered sugar, I put about 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar into a plastic bag and dumped about 10 cookies at a time in the bag and shooked them up to coat them. It was way faster and easier than doing them individually.

Very easy and delicious. I followed a tip from Jessica Seinfeld and added a cup of puree'd Butternut squash for added veggies. You couldn't even tell or taste the difference!! Great for picky eaters. I still added a veggie side dish as well.
