Omelet in a Bag

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I have had this around for years and it gets a 5 for me on fun, ease, AND clean-up. Great for camping trips (take all fillings in separate bags) and when kiddos sleep over. I do use only heavy duty qt size freezer bags. When making with kids I let them add all their own stuff and do the squishing. I just add fillings to the cracked eggs in the bag and squish everything together at once! (I also label each persons with a sharpie)

Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
Excellent .... I took the advice of some other reviewers by using 1 c. sugar and 1 c. brown sugar, added 1 t. cinnamon and used butter instead of shortening. Also, baked 1 hour in Bundt pan. Very Very good!

I was a little doubtful about this one when I read the recipe..but man oh man..this one is good!! I have made it a few times and my only adjustment is I cut back on the sugar. My husband loves this and I always have the ingredients on hand! This one is a keeper!

Super easy, nice flavor. Cooked mine in a skillet on the stove top instead of in oven. Turned out great!! Will make again!

My husband and I love this rice. I always have the ingredients on hand and it is just too easy!! Never too salty if you use the low-sodium chicken broth. Thanks for an easy and delicious recipe.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
This recipe was wonderful. I made these as a surprise for my fiance, which had to work a double shift last night. He came home and didn't get to bed until after 2 hours of sitting there eating these cookies and drinking milk! I did what other reviews have suggested and added 2 TBLS Vanilla, 1 tsp salt, and 2 tsp of Baking Powder. I didn't have two packages of vanilla pudding mix, but I did have one vanilla and one chocolate and they came out WONDERFUL! Thanks for a great recipe!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
Pretty good recipe I must say. Only problem I had was the outside was coming out a little hard, and the middle didn't cook through all the way. Did I do something wrong? I've always made bread like I did last night, and it always cooks through. Is there something I'm not quite doing? It was still amazing though :)

Strawberry Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
This is a WONDERFUL cake. I have used this for the past two kids birthday cake and then I use the wedding cake icing recipe off this site. It's wonderful. I put sliced strawberries and their juice in here and it makes it even better! I also use a mixer for mixing the cake, makes it cook more evenly.

This was pretty good :) Ran out of onions so I added green onions instead. For some reason the meat was a little chewy, but all in all, I'd make this again :)

These were great. I am just now starting to cook...it must be because I'm pregnant. But if I can make these and they turn out this good...anyone can..they were super easy and very "fudgey".

Not a traditional peach cobbler, but it turned out wonderful! I sprinkled brown sugar on peaches before I baked it. It reminds me of bread pudding.. Husband loves it! I will continue making it.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Ok, this soup/stew is awesome!!! First, it just does not get any easier to prepare. Second, it is just plain delicious. My husband is a little bit picky and really does not care for beans of any kind. He LOVES this soup!!! He loves it so much the leftovers don't even last long!! Wonderful with corn bread or tortilla chips. I also love that I can adjust the "heat" level by the choice of tomatoes and green chilis. I have used the regular once, lots of good heat. And I have used the mild, still really nice flavor. Great for winter days!!

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
I have never used a "recipe" for this dish in my life, as I learned to cook in my g'ma's Southern kitchen, but this is how I have always done it! One change I did make from Mamaw's gravy was to use half milk and half chicken broth. It won't taste like chicken gravy but it will have a bit more richness. This is the only way I make milk or cream gravy anymore. Another reviewer said to make sure your grease is hot enough and that is wonderful advice. Frying at too low a temp is a common error.

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2006
I have made this lasagna again and again, and I always receive wonderful reviews. A big Italian-cooking fan friend of mine says it is the best lasagna he's ever had! I've doubled the spinach and artichokes, which packs it with more veggies and still works great. I've also added ricotta cheese, mixed in with some parmesan, and done alternating cheese layers similar to traditional lasagna, with feta still on the top. Awesome!

I only had four small apples on hand and it would have been much better with more. I will try this again and cut back on the sugar, it was a bit too sweet for our guests.

White Chocolate Blueberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2005
I made this last night and couldn't wait to cut into it this morning.. It is delicious and my family loves it! I baked it for an hour at 275 degrees and it was very loose in the middle. So I turned the temp up to 300 and left it in there for another 20-25 minutes and checked it constantly.. The cheesecake and blueberry sauce is awesome, but my crust came out VERY chewy and even a bit hard in some places.. I'm sure it was something I did to it! Hopefully the crust will be better next time.. Will make this again and again!!
