The Best Lemon Bars

I love Lemon! & this hit the spot. I took the advice of the other reviews(using smaller pan), & used whole wheat flour intsead. didn't have regular, but still came out as a 5 star.

Ham and Cheese Bowties

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
I'm giving this five stars only because I haven't had a chance to try it exactly according to the recipe. I made it last night for dinner though with what I had available, substituting turkey for ham and mexican-blend (cheddar, monterey jack, asadero, and queso quesadilla) shredded cheese for colby. It was absolutely delicious. I also did have to add some extra milk (probably about 1/4 cup or so) to the sauce as it got way too thick. But again, this was a scrumptious meal. I loved it. My fiance didn't like it as much as I did, but he's not much of a cheese fan. I will definitely be making this again, hopefully next time following the recipe exactly.

Very tasty. I double it and used 1 regular pork sausage and one 1 pound hot. Served with crackers and chips. Kept it warm in a crockpot. Big office hit!

Followed recipe exactly first time out. Came out tasty and moist. Husband said it was the best pumpkin bread he'd ever had. I made two larger loafs from it.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Really tasty and easy recipe. I whipped it together while giving friends directions to our house and had it ready by the time they got here. I usually stick to the recipe exactly first time around. This time I strayed just slightly. I put half of the ranch in before realizing it overpowered the other flavors. I cut it off at 3/4 C and added a little more Frank's Red Hot sauce. I'm glad I did. All the same, this is an excellent recipe.

Gingerbread Waffles

I made these as hangover food for a house full of guests over Halloween weekend. Everyone ate and enjoyed them, but no one seemed wowed. But, that might have been the hangovers. I loved them WITH the whipped cream and bananas. I think they were necessary additions. I'll definitely make these again closer to Christmas.

Pecan Squares Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Absolutely scrumptious! If you are a pecan pie fan you will love these and so much faster/easier than if you were to make a pie using your own crust. The result is superb. I took them to a Halloween potluck at work and got rave reviews and was asked numerous times for the recipe. So addicting!!! Even better the next day! I used dark corn syrup since it was what I had in hand and only one cup. The pan I used is the one for Lasagna and it was great. I will try it again on Thanksgiving and use the full measure next time to decide which I like best but I don't really know if you can improve on perfection. Thank you Sylvia for sharing your wonderful recipe.

Triple-Layer Pumpkin Spice Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
The only reason I'm giving this recipe 4 stars instead of five is that it was only perfect with some minor changes. Firstly, there is no actual pumpkin in Jell-O Pumpkin Spice Pudding. Not even artificial pumpkin flavor. It's just the spices that are usually added to pumpkin pie. That in mind, I added half a can of Libby's pumpkin to the pudding as I was mixing it up. This made such a huge difference in the flavor. Second, you don't have to spend all this time making honey glazed pecans yourself. I bought cinnamon glazed pecans at my local grocery store and they tasted a million times better for no effort. Third, I dusted the top of the pie with some pumpkin pie spice. With my changes, this pie was absolutely KILLER. I will probably be bringing it to one of the Thanksgiving dinners I'll be attending this year!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
EXCELLENT RECIPE! Slow cookers and I are not normally friends, but this has given me a leg-up on my soon to be slow-cookin' sidekick. I used a chuck roast and followed the recipe to the letter. Did not experience any issues with saltiness. The flavor was nice and rich and full bodied. Made excellent gravy for the veggies I made on the side. Thanks for posting such an easy and excellent recipe. Will be a permanent addition to my recipe box!!!

Pumpkin Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
My kids loved this cake. They are great critics when it comes to pumpkin. I was laughing b/c some of my good friends always tell me that I like to make things that are in layers... well, maybe they are right but I can't wait to try this one on them. I did follow the recipe and the only changes I made was to add a little bit of nutmeg and a little ground cloves to the the pumpkin mix and chopped pecans for the crumb topping. Delicious!

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
Let me start off by saying that fish and tacos are not a natural affiliation for me. However, this recipe is unbelievable. My husband and 1 year old eat these tacos. We have tried grilled and fried fish and LOVE both. I have to admit that I cheated once as well- used store bought fried fish. Was still good, but much better when fresh. We didn't have any shredded cabbage on hand the first time around, but did the rest as indicated. Turned out better than expected. Must give credit where credit is due. This is a great recipe- especially if it can turn non-fish eaters into fish eaters. Thanks!

Fluffy Pancakes

These pancakes are awesome! They are so light and fluffy and flavorful that my daughter eats them without syrup. We now keep a batch in the freezer for those busy mornings when homemade pancakes just aren't on the menu. 30 seconds in the mic. and they're good as gold. Thanks for the great recipe!

Slow Cooker Baked Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Interesting recipe. Would you believe it's the same recipe as in my old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook copywrite 1981? In BH&G it's called "New England Baked Beans". The only diff is this recipe doesn't call for salt. But the crockpot method is identical.

Pressure-Cooked Beef Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I must be from a different part of the country, because I would call this recipe "Pressure-Cooked Pot Roast". I was looking for a beef stew recipe, found this one and realized, after making it with stew meat, that it was actually pot roast. Not too quick on my part, but the recipe is really good when made with stew meat. After the veggies are cooked, mix in the warm, cooked stew meat and you have a great stew. Kudos!!

Barbecued Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
Delicious. I used the rub from "Busy Day BBQ Brisket" instead to add more spice to mine too. I agree with others that the time may be off. My brisket was still a little tough at 5 hours into it. Ended up needing to cook another 1 1/2 to 2 hours to be fork tender and I would recommend doubling the sauce.
